The town of Ludlow is nearby and contains many excellent restaurants, a fine wine store, antique and gift shops and a local museum. The lake area is outstanding for those who wish to jog, walk, or bike with its famous Red Bridge and dam a favorite destination. Mountain bike trails head out right from the quaint unpaved roads which lead back into the lake country.
The lake is deep with plenty of opportunity for water skiing and other water sports. Canoes and kayaks make good use of the nooks and bays which define the edges of the lake. A kayak is available for use, and there is plenty of space to bring your own boat and tie up to the dock.
Okemo Mountain offers wonderful skiing as does Killington which is 30 minutes away. Okemo, less than a 10 minute drive, offers an adventure park as well. Vermont is made for skiers so the roads are plowed and maintained and always accessible.
There is outstanding golf at the Okemo Valley Golf course. It is open to visitors. In the winter, the course offers cross country skiing and snow shoeing on groomed trails.
One favorite destination is Weston with its picturesque village and famous summer playhouse. Another excursion is to Woodstock known for its restaurants, covered bridge, and Billings Farm and Museum. Both places are 30 minutes away. There is even a brewery to visit on the way to Woodstock. Long Trail brewery with its tours and pub are popular all year long.
Plymouth State Park is only a short bike ride away. The Calvin Coolidge historic site and museum is just up the road in Plymouth as is Coolidge State Park for serious hiking and camping.
The lake usually freezes early in the winter and is well used by skaters and ice fishermen. It offers nice cross country skiing right from our dock.
