A newly-built guesthouse with the feel of the Old West.
We are located far enough out of Alpine to give you a rural feel, but in reality being just minutes from downtown, this studio guesthouse gives you the best of both worlds.
Sit out on the large covered porch and enjoy watching the quail and other wildlife, or visit with our own assortment of livestock. We are pet-friendly, and can even board horses for a small fee.
After you have enjoyed your day, relax around a fire in the fire pit, or soak in the hot tub while watching the sky for shooting stars and satellites. If you feel like cooking outside, there is a gas grill available, or you can BBQ over the fire in the fire pit.
Inside the guesthouse, you will experience the warmth of rustic and the comfort of modern from the custom-built cedar furniture and cabinetry to the knotty-pine vaulted ceiling, along with the wall of windows opening onto a fantastic view of Alpine against the mountains. The kitchen has a full-size refrigerator, sink, cook-top, and pantry. It is equipped with a microwave, toaster oven, automatic coffee-maker, toaster, and cooking utensils.
The queen-size custom-built bed has plenty of storage space under it in case you want to stay awhile.
The television is a 32-inch flat screen with satellite service and a DVD player.
The guesthouse is climate-controlled with a whisper-quiet heating and cooling system.
The modern, spacious bathroom includes a large walk-in shower, and a vanity with plenty of counter space. There is also a hair dryer, and an iron and ironing board.
Come stay outside the box, and experience the true West Texas.
Clean, spacious, nice little kitchen. Sweet little farm with chickens and horses in back yard.
Owners friendly and helpful.
My friend and I needed to get out of the city and into a peaceful environment, and this proved a perfect place to do just that. As many have said, pictures just can't do this place justice. As we walked through the entryway and into the walkway up to the guesthouse upon our arrival, we were immediately greeted with a breathtaking view of the mountains. The house itself was perfect for two and its location was right in the center of all we hoped to do in the area. The first night we enjoyed a dinner in town (Reata) and then came back to soak in the tub to view the amazing night sky and stars (the white wine that was so graciously left in the fridge was a pleasant bonus). Our visit to Marfa the next day was an easy drive. After a day of walking, the guesthouse was a welcome shelter, clean and with a roomy restroom. Each day, we woke up with a landscape view of the mountains from the bed. We would then walk out the door and enjoy the sunrise and the daily morning dance of the quails, chickens and horses as they started off their day. It was peaceful and felt very private despite its proximity to the home. I definitely plan on coming back. Thanks for providing such a wonderful sanctuary.
From waking up with a landscape view of the mountains to watching the stars from the hot tub right outside the door of the Mountain View Guest House, this spot is perfect. The location was perfect as a central hub to Big Bend and Marfa. When we walked through the doorway into the walkway to the house we were immediately rewarded with a breathtaking view. The house itself was exceptionally clean and charming. It was the perfect size for two and we were welcomed with a bottle of wine waiting for us in the fridge. The hot tub was easy to use and the view above in the night sky was worth the price for our stay alone. We woke up both days in time to catch the sunrise and watch the chickens, horses and goats perform their morning dance of eating and visiting. We drove a short distance into town and ate at the also charming Reata followed by a trip to Marfa the next day. Each night, the guest house served as a peaceful shelter. So thankful we found this spot! The owners truly take care in communicating and creating an ideal getaway haven. I miss it already.

Great place to stay just a few minutes outside of town. Perfect for seeing the stars and enjoying the Big Bend area.
We stayed here last year for my husband's birthday! They were great, they really do have animals who you come to look forward to seeing in the morning, fresh eggs, beautiful sky, just lovely....
Located on the Fort Davis Hwy., we are just minutes away from downtown Alpine, Sul Ross University, restaurants, and shopping, including boutique art galleries and gift shops. Alpine is the gateway to Big Bend National Park, along with historic mining towns such as Terlingua(famous for its annual Chili Cookoff) and the bordertown of Lajitas with its championship golf course. To the west of Alpine is Marfa, filled with many historic buildings and a growing art community. In between Alpine and Marfa is the famous Marfa Lights visitors' center. North on the Fort Davis Hwy., along the Texas Mountain Trail, is the Chihuahuan Desert Research Institute, which features native plants of the Chihuahuan Desert located in a gorgeous canyon setting. Further down the road is the historic town of Fort Davis, just 20 minutes from us. While there, you can explore the actual Fort Davis, which is a National Historic Site. Fort Davis is filled with charming shops and restaurants that add to its Western flair. A little further up the road is the McDonald Observatory, where you can attend their famous Star Parties, or just take a tour. The Fort Davis Highway is used by both bicyclists and motorcyclists as a year-round scenic ride. There are so many activities to enjoy in this area, and we are located right in the heart of it all.
