Beautiful thatched riverside cottage. A lovely circular layout adds to the 'flow' of the house where living rooms interconnect with the Arts and Craft style kitchen which has a gas fired Aga, electric cooker and adjoining dining area. Three new state of the art bathrooms have been installed with walk-in showers and large bath. Two are en-suite. Beamed Entrance Porch and Reception Hall welcome you to this wonderful holiday home; set in country cottage gardens with many old varieties of flowers such as hollyhock and roses, tulips and daffodiiles adorn the lawns in spring. The riverside lawns stretch down to the river patio near the waters edge. Inside there is a captains cabin reconstructed from a ship bound for Australia with wonderful carved ships figureheads and 17th century beams used on the outside. The Old Wharf Cottage is in a fantastic location as it is close to London, Royal Windsor and Heathrow with plenty of restaurants and attractions nearby.

Beautiful thatched riverside cottage, named the 'Old Wharf Cottage' as once barges unloaded cargo of copper at the wharf, now the site of the outdoor heated swimming pool. It was originally built in 1903 in the Edwardian Era. The Arts and Crafts Movement between 1880 and 1910 influenced the owners many of them artists and sculptors themselves, and later arts and craft features were added including ornate plaster work around the bedroom cornice's,a coat of arms as you climb the oak staircase with carving depicted by aged red and green paints, much used by the Arts and Craft Movement-inspired by medieval colour and image seen in the works of the artist/designer William Morris.

It is approximately 40 minutes drive or train journey from the centre of London with an array of sightseeing opportunities available to you. The Old Wharf Cottage is also just down the road from Royal Windsor and the magnificent Windsor Castle where the Queen spends her weekends. Why not try a cream tea opposite the castle to have the quintessential English experience?!

The Old Wharf Cottage is situated close to the town of Windsor and Windsor Castle. It has gardens edged by the River Thames and the opposite bank is Old Windsor. London is 40 minutes drive to the city centre and Piccadilly circus. There is a train station in the village with direct access into Windsor where the line ends or London City Centre in the opposite direction.

The nearest tube is Hatton Cross which is only a 15 minute drive away from the house.

Windsor Great Park is easily accessible and the town itself offers beautiful shops and fashionable high street boutiques in a pedestrian area and Victorian arcade. Sight seeing tours operate around the area. Horse and cart trips are available around the narrow cobbled streets and along the mile long walk right up to the gates of Windsor Castle. Heathrow is near by for direct flights and easy transfers.

We had 10 days to catch up with family and friends and this idyllic spot is ideally situated for everyone to meet up from different corners and relax and enjoy the late sun we had last September. We ate outside, children had space to run around and play, it was all very easy, with help on hand if need be. I would recommend it to anyone and all our guests adored it

Our stay was everything we wanted

The Old Wharf Cottage provided our family a wonderful week of comfort and homeliness. It was just like staying in your own dream family home with all the familiar comforts. The house itself is large but also very quaint with some very interesting features including the captain’s cabin bedroom. We loved the living area flowing through the house from kitchen to dining to the wonderful river lounge overlooking the Thames. The kitchen is very grand and well supplied and we spend many enjoyable hours preparing and cooking wonderful meals on the Aga stove. The grounds of the house are beautifully laid out and maintained and offer a fantastic setting to the views and boating along the River Thames. All the services of the house were fully functional and the owners and their staff were always available if any assistance was needed. our stay at the Old Wharf Cottage was everything we wanted as the perfect place to assemble our family members so as to enjoy each other’s company.
