This brand new villa can accomodate large groups up to 18. It is a four bedroom / 3 bath property. However, because the pods are completely separate, so you can rent either 1 BR's, a 2BR, or the whole 4 BR complex or anything in between, and you will have your privacy and your own apartment no matter which unit you choose. Each unit is it's own condo and has its own bathroom with hot shower and its own kitchen along with it's own screend in patio and private sun bathing / bird watching deck. The large unit has two queen beds in separate bedrooms and two twin beds and its own kitchen with large screened in sitting/dining area. The two bedrooms are private and are set up like small hotel rooms. The middle unit has one queen and two twins along with a full kitchen and large deck beyond. The lower unit has the same features as the middle unit. ALL units have interior living space, screened in living/ kitchen/ lounging space and a large deck space beyond that is not screened in and is ideal for sitting in an Adirondack chair and nature watching or sun bathing. Delight in being totally immersed in nature- beautiful rock formations, enormous trees, hummingbirds, deer, gecko, iguanas, occasional chicken, donkey and goat. Lull yourself to sleep with the symphony of tree frogs. New, comfy mattresses, new high thread count linens- everything is new- be the first to stay here. This is a great alternative for travelers who love Maho and Concordia for their low prices and connectivity to nature but also want modern conveniences and comfort they don't offer- like comfy mattresses (the Queens are top of the line Serta mattresses), real full size refrigerators, powerful ceiling fans, reliable electric heated hot water. This property is in the mountain, so it can get cool at night. You might find yourself turning off the ceiling fans at night so you don't get too cool! St. John is an expensive island; I am offering comfortable accommodations at a low price so you can afford to really enjoy the island. There is so much to do and see; if you 'do' St. John right, you will be out during the day and only primarily using the villa to sleep, cook and shower. So why get an expensive villa when you will likely be out exploring!! Plus, you will feel a connectivity to nature that you will never experience staying at an inn in busy Cruz Bay. Each unit has a brand new full size modern refrigerator and cooking facility consisting of a 2-burner gas stove cook-top set in the thick concrete counter-top. Brand new microwave, toaster oven large enough for a small pizza, blender, coffee maker in each unit. All basic utensils and plates, etc provided. Save money by cooking at home that local fresh Mahi or Wahoo filet you bought from the local fisherman or caught yourself. Caribbean lobster is plentiful if you know how to catch them. Bathrooms are corner showers - prefab ones from American Standard with sliding glass doors. Pics of bathrooms coming soon. Nice toilets and porcelain pedestal bathroom sink. Contact me for advice on inexpensive car rentals. Also, you don't have to rent a car to stay here; I am walking distance to the bus stop in Coral Bay, but it is a steep walk up form the bus stop. The one bedroom photo I have is just a sample- all bedrooms are similar- all enclosed patios are similar except the smaller units have slightly smaller enclosed patios. The bedroom photos are before blinds and artwork were installed. The smaller units have LARGE deck space beyond the enclosed patio area. It is best to call me to help figure out which unit will best suit you or your group. Art on the walls, fixtures are not seen in the pics but have since been installed. RATE SCHEDULE: $420 for seven nights ($60 per night) is for low season (summer in the US); rates are slightly higher in high and shoulder seasons. HIGH SEASON: For the one bedroom units, prices start at $99 per night and for the large unit $125. Some high demand weeks are higher. Christmas and New Years up until January 5 there is holiday pricing. Shoulder season rates start at $75. Low season is a great time to come to the island- warm water, no crowds and low nightly rates. ***PLEASE NOTE: I DO NOT USE THE AUTOMATIC RATE CALCULATOR OR THE WEBSITE CALENDAR OR SOFTWARE. We just spent ten days at Tree-top hideaway and had a great time! This was our second time staying there, we spent a week there in April. The units are super clean, the location is fantastic, and you really feel like you are staying in a tree house. We were regulars at Maho Campgrounds before it closed. This is a more luxurious but still laid back version. Definitely get a car and explore the island. Highly recommend!
We spent 7 nights in the lower unit and loved it. The place is very close to the action in Coral Bay yet secluded and private. Our two daughters (5 and 7) loved the outdoor deck and all the lizards and birds that kept them busy all day. Accommodations are clean and in very good condition with a functional kitchenette and bathroom. We chose to sleep "outside" in the screened-in porch and sleep in nature; the kids took the bedroom. Will definitely stay here again next year. Definitely need a 4x4 to get there though. The way in/out is steep but not a problem with four wheel drive. Kitchen is equipped but not to the gills, so if you want to bring stuff to the beach you'll need Ziploc bags, travel water bottles, etc. As with all St. John travel, stop at the Cost-U-Less in St. Thomas first if you can (rent the car there) to get relatively cheap groceries. Pack coffee, salt/sugar, nuts, etc., whatever high-ticket items you have room for in your bag (no produce allowed, though). Coral Bay groceries are $$$$$. Thomas was very quick to answer all of our questions and misrepresented nothing. We were VERY happy with our stay!
This was our second time in the large unit. It was very nice being back, the place was exactly as we remembered it, functional, clean, affordable and...in the middle of paradise. Definitely a hidden gem, don't let it slip through your fingers!
My wife and I spent 10 days in the lower unit. We found that it provided a very private, efficient and cozy living space. Everything was just as described. The unit was very clean and everything we needed was provided. Donny the caretaker was very hospitable. He met us in Coral Bay and led us up the road to the villa. It was like meeting an old friend. He explained everything clearly and answered all of our questions. Never seemed to be in a hurry. Very helpful. He did check in with us the next day to see if everything was ok and then left us alone. Of course he was available by phone if needed and once when the power went off briefly he was there within minutes and restored it (a tripped breaker). The unit had enough space for 4 so if we go back with our daughters, there would be enough room. Tfhe beds were great. I slept better there than at home! Windows on all sides allowed for breezes to flow through and cool things off and ceiling fans took over when there was no breeze. The sound of the tree frogs at night makes this location unique and very relaxing. We cooked most of our meals and found everything we needed in the kitchen. The layout of ot the unit worked very well with the deck, screened in porch/kitchen, and bedroom/bathroom. We would, without hesitation, stay there again when we return to St. John. By the way, the east side of the island is so much more relaxing and less busy than the Cruz Bay side. There are 2 small grocery stores nearby so it is not necessary to go to the "big city" to buy groceries. We were able to explore all parts of the island easily from this location with our rental jeep. Driving to the unit was no problem after once or twice you get the hang of it and a concrete pad for a parking space is found right next to the unit which was very handy. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to see the island at a slow pace without feeling like a tourist.
We had the middle unit and it was exactly as described. The beds were clean and comfy, the kitchen had everything that was needed, the bathroom clean as well and the view from the deck was absolutely glorious. Donny, the caretaker was fantastic. When we called to say that the electricity was down, he arrived immediately, fixed it with a smile and a "no worries!" We would most definitely re-visit St. John and stay at the Tree Top Hideway again.
The property is very nice at the near top of a huge hill in coral bay. St johns is an amazing place and this is a very economical and fun way to spend it while your not out doing whatever it is you choose to do all day in the park. Charles and Donny were very helpful. We rented a two wheel drive car and just parked it @ the top of the driveway and then its a 1 minute walk down, otherwise you might want a 4x4. thanks guys.
