We are a professional couple who have been 'empty nesters' in our large home for 3+ years. We want to spend part of the year back east closer to our children and explore the possibility of bi-coastal living.
Lisa Sanderson purchased this house in 2000
This house is a vacation in and of itself. You never have to leave! Whether its the 2 of you watching the sunset from our jacuzzi while the fire pit blazes or the family watching a movie, or reading on the quiet garden patio in the sunshine while the hummingbirds buzz around you, this house is the ultimate getaway-- located in the world's kindest climate and in a city with more than you can do in a lifetime. Perfect for kids/family reunion, the multi-level nature of the house means room to be together without being on top of each other.
All three generations (six of us) enjoyed the time in this beautiful home! What a find! The kitchen was well stocked for cooking, and the view was outstanding! Plenty of room so everyone could have some private time, and comfortable gathering places when we came together. The deck was enjoyed by all of us, with a grill, fire pit, and large hot tub. Would we stay there again? A resounding yes!
Our extended family spent 5 nights/5 days here, with our group ranging up to 12. This house worked extremely well for us. It has multiple conversation spaces, allowing us to easily mix and mingle in smaller groups. The kitchen accommodated three of us working at any given time, plus a bar space to the side. The dining table accommodates 10 adults easily, and 12 with just a little squeeze. There were ample plates, flatware, etc. in the kitchen for us; and some "extras" like a food processor and blender. The deck, outdoor grilling space, hot tub and chaises were very welcome on this warm weekend. The view was great from this hillside home, too. The neighborhood was quiet and clean. The décor is perhaps a little dated, but that wasn't important to us. My one and only reservation would be that the house has too many steps to be a good spot for young children or anyone with mobility challenges.
Thank you Lisa for sharing your beautiful home with my family over the weekend. There are breathtaking views all over the home. The pictures on the listing doesn't do any justice, definitely exceeded our expectations. The featured amenities is everything you can ask for to entertain your family at all ages. Our family enjoyed grilling on the deck while sitting aside the fire pit overlooking the view during sunset. In my opinion, the only downside was the amount of stairs.. it wasn't kid friendly for children under the ages of 3. However, we will definitely consider again for our next stay-cation.
Amazing house. Very open layout, very comfortable, great neighborhood. We stayed here last summer and enjoyed it so much that we planned another trip to San Diego this summer just to stay in this house again, and booked it 6 months in advance. Grilling every night on the large deck was a particular highlight. Highly recommended.
We absolutely loved staying at this home!! It was even better than the pictures! Loved walking around Mt Helix for the great views of the city! Home is very spacious and has all the high end amenities that make for a comfortable stay! Thanks again and we hope to be back next year!!
Our extended family of 8 (2 parents, 2 grandmothers, 4 college/grad students) gathered here to celebrate our daughter's college graduation and enjoy some family time. This spacious, artistic home was just perfect! The view was gorgeous, the home and kitchen well appointed and comfortable, and we now have memories that we will treasure. Thank you, Lisa!
