We know what we would like to find when we travel. Need an extra cookie sheet or serving dish? Did you forget something? Or did we? We're downstairs- just ask.
We provide extra quality linens and stock our dispensers with quality toiletries.
For entertainment- a 42' flat screen TV with a PVR, digital channels and a quality sound system, a clock radio with an ipad docking station. And of course, a stocked bookcase and quality Canadian Magazines.
For work- a notebook desk with ample outlets, usb charging ports, wireless internet access, phone service with free North American calling (international calling by arrangement)- and those little things you need- scotch tape, staples, etc.
Our home was completely rebuilt with the finest mechanical systems, eschewing granite countertops in favour of soundproofing between units, a Heat Recovery Ventilation System (which constantly brings fresh air indoors), and we are never out hot water.
How about a full size washer and drier- and even a shoe drier and lock box for your valuables?

We travel a lot ourselves, and we know what it's like to be impressed or disappointed with accommodations. We have created a welcoming, comfortable, clean place where visitors will feel at home.
We are the type of travelers who want to be surrounded by locals and to get the feel of the place we are visiting and what it might be like to live there.
We don't want to jump off a tour bus, have our picture taken beside a Totem pole, then get on the bus to the next photo op.
We want to understand the Totem Pole- who carved it, and where are they? What does it mean? How did it end up in Stanley Park?
If you are our kind of traveler, Strathcozy is you kind of place.
One thing we really hate about travel- places that raise their rates during busy times. What's that about? We will never do that.

We purchased our home in this neighborhood because of its close proximity to downtown. We are both cyclists- our primary mode of transportation in the city.
We are a 40-minute walk or 10-minute cycle ride to Granville and Georgia Streets- the center of downtown Vancouver.
Our neighbours are really nice people. Most are socially and environmentally conscious, and share our city's ambition to be the world's greenest city.
Strathcona has been designated a Heritage area by the City of Vancouver. Older buildings are protected and new development must conform to guidelines that maintain its late-Victorian character and charm. A highly desirable neighbourhood in a highly desirable city.
The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) has rated Vancouver as the third most livable city in the world, and its spectacular natural setting makes it one of the world's most beautiful cities.
It is also a tolerant, diverse city. It is impossible to be a resident of our city and not have an acquaintance or friend who is from a cultural background that is completely different than yours. The multiculturalism here is amazing. There are people from everywhere in the world- it would be hard to find a culture, ethnicity or religion that isn't represented here, and everyone gets along
The suite we are offering is truly beautiful. High ceilings, lots of light and quality finishes lend an atmosphere of coziness and warmth.
Our strict non smoking, no candles, no incense and no pets policy together with our ventilation system, hardwood and tile floors (only the stairs are carpeted) all add up to fresh, clean air. No need for chemicals to mask odors. Ideal for those prone to allergies.
We had a super time in this beautiful, comfortable, very clean, convenient apartment! Everything from kitchen supplies, sour dough bread in the freezer, shopping bags, books, maps, wifi, umbrellas, etc., were very thoughtfully provided by Richard and Frank. We have family in Strathcona and have stayed various places. Strathcozy is by far our favorite, and we will return for sure. Thanks, Richard and Frank!
We highly recommend Strathcozy for your stay in Vancouver. This fabulous unit is half of a duplex that has been lovingly updated by the owners. Every single detail was considered and executed in their remodel. Highest quality appliances, and it included laundry and a jacuzzi style tub/shower! Cozy and comfy through out. Spotless. Nice touches like coffee and a basket of snack food in the kitchen. Very attractive and comfortable living and dining rooms, and amazing kitchen. The full bedroom had a very comfortable bed and quality linens. And the owners are totally great guys who were generous and gracious. We enjoyed brief chats when we encountered them in our comings and goings and they offered great tips on where to go, what to do. They even have printed maps available of suggested tours. We will definitely return to Strathcozy the next time we are in Vancouver!
I’ve stayed in plenty of great places in Vancouver. This is my absolute favorite.
The hosts: Richard and Frank are super nice and welcoming. They really make you feel at home.
The Apartment: It’s already a large apartment, but they make it feel even bigger with the clever use of space. Its clean, comfortable and has every modern amenity. The house is located in a peaceful, colorful neighborhood. It’s close to lots of great food. It’s just a short walk or drive to downtown.
To sum up, the apartment is amazing. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Vancouver.
We had stars above our heads when we came upon Strathcona in our search on Homeaway! What a wonderful place to stay. My only regret is we didn't have longer. The apartment is secluded, beautifully decorated, CLEAN, and so well thought out. There wasn't one thing we needed that wasn't stocked in the apartment. Richard is so welcoming and made us feel so very much at home. Thank you for such a wonderful first experience in your beautiful, friendly city! We will definitely be back!!! Janis and Lily
We just spent three nights at Strathcozy and enjoyed every moment of our stay! This apartment is so tastefully put together, and so well thought out. We especially enjoyed the balcony, which is festooned with grape vines (although they were not ripe yet). Frank and Richard have obviously put a lot of thought into making this a comfortable and pleasurable refuge for travelers. In addition, they were so helpful and kind, offering us all kinds of hints on sites to see and isn't the transit system. They are wonderful hosts! You will not regret staying at Strathcozy!
My partner and I stayed at Strathcozy for 8 nights. We came to Vancouver to visit our 2 children, who live nearby. We were able to have them over for dinners and to spend some good times with them in a comfortable setting. A lot of thought, attention to detail, and care were put into setting up Stathcozy. Richard and Frank made sure we were comfortable and all our needs were met. I would highly recommend staying there, and we will stay there again on our next visit to Vancouver.
We are located in Vancouver's oldest neighbourhood, 6 blocks east of Chinatown and the exquisite Dr Sun Yat-sen classical Chinese garden. On your way to Chinatown you will pass the Strathcona Community Center. If you're up early enough you can witness the Chinese people doing Tai Chi in McLean Park, and pass by a small but really beautiful Buddhist Temple. When you reach Chinatown you are half way downtown. Gastown is just north of Chinatown.
One block to the east is the Ray-Cam Community Center, seven blocks east is the Vancouver Aboriginal Friendship Center, and Commercial Drive.
We are next door to the Roman Catholic Sacred Spirit Center, Sacred Heart Parish and Kateri Center.
At the other end of our block is the Ukrainian Cultural Centre and around the corner is the Russian Hall and a small Russian Orthodox church.
We are a 20-minute walk to Science World, Pacific Central bus and train station (VIA rail and Amtrak), and the Main St or Stadium Skytrain stations. For further transit info go to Translink.ca- use E Pender @ Campbell Ave as a departure point for trip planning. We are a block away from Hastings Street (Hwy 7a) which is a major transportation artery. The transit service from here is great.
The following car share programs operate in our neighbourhood: Car2Go and MODO.
We are 4 short blocks north of the Adanac bike route- leading downtown to the west or towards Commercial Drive to the East. Vancouver is scheduled to have a community bike share program in place by the summer of 2013.
If your visit to Vancouver is to work or relax, you just might want to stay in Strathcona. Walk over to Union Market, a corner store unlike any other. They bake their own bread, and the tables outside are a great place to watch the cyclists whiz by.
