La vista Del Oceano (view of the ocean) named for the many spots you'll catch ocean glances in this lovely, quaint California beach cottage home. Built in 1928, but lovingly restored with modern features in 2007, while keeping the original charm of the era. From the classic O'keefe & Merritt stove in the exceptional kitchen to the hardwood floors throughout to the glass door knobs and push button light switches, it's a nostalgic journey with all the modern amenities.
Both bedrooms have a queen sized bed with comfortable mattresses and luxurious bedding to assure a restful nights sleep in this very quiet neighborhood.
A very short 10 minute walk to the beach or cruise downhill 2 minutes by car or the provided pair of beach cruisers with baskets. If you wish there are beach chairs (4), beach umbrella, boogie boards(2) and wet suits(2) provided with our home.
For relaxing after a day of adventure there is a lovely patio with hot tub spa in the back under the shade of the sprawling avocado tree (feel free to sample as many as you please, along with sweet oranges from the front yard).
Along with the close proximity to the beach, La Vista Del Oceano is very close (5 minutes) to the convenience of the many shops, restaurants, and amenities in the mesa 'village'. If you desire to eat healthy and cook in there is the Lazy Acres grocery, as well as, an exceptional fresh, organic produce market nearby.
The west beach, wharf, downtown state street areas are all within a 5 minute drive and there are safe bike lanes should you choose to cycle. Be sure to make the short walk up the street above our home (3 hundred yards) for the most spectacular view of the ocean and channel islands you are likely to see anywhere in the Santa Barbara area.
Whether you are seeking a romantic couples getaway, a fun family time or have just learned to love the area as we have, La Vista Del Oceano should meet all of your needs.
We are newcomers to Santa Barbara having fallen in love on a recent visit and within a month had returned and purchased our retirement home. It quickly became apparent that the small town feel with the world class culture, outdoor adventure opportunities, and beautiful scenery with mountains meeting ocean was a great fit. The Mesa area was the best of the best for us and this was confirmed when we quickly met several lovely neighbors. We know that you to will be enchanted by Santa Barbara's allure.
Our home was love at first sight for us. We have lived in a historic neighborhood and have a great appreciation for the quality and charm of 'turn of the century' home.
We are only the 3rd occupants of this home built in 1928, and also appreciated that all of the heavy lifting in terms of remodel had already been done, quite tastefully by the previous interior decorator owner. Lastly, this neighborhood (the Mesa) has a wonderful energy and friendly spirit.
The combination of location and charm were an appeal and when we walked up the front porch steps and realized the neat view of the ocean and islands; combined with the beautiful restoration of the interior, we were sold on La Vista Del Oceano. The previous owner had a background in interior design and obviously put a lot of attention to detail in the lighting, utilization of space. and amazingly cleaver kitchen.
It really is hard to say that any one element created that 'this is the one' feeling, but it was hard to give any other properties we'd seen consideration after our first visit.
If you enjoy the outdoors, beach activities from boggie boarding, surfing, kayaking, etc., nearby world class shopping from high end to antiquing, sight seeing, hiking, bike riding with super off street trails, whale and dolphin excursions, fabulous concert venue (Santa Barbara Bowl-limited season), wine tasting locally with excursions to nearby wine country. Several very nice restaurants withing walking distance in the 'Mesa Village' and for those who like to eat healthy a super fresh, organic produce market along with Lazy
Acres market is a short walk or use the beach cruisers with baskets. Endless possibilities!
