We operate a family owned organic egg business in the Mission Valley and bought this house as a future retirement home. My husband and I are both from the midwest and grew up in farming communities in Missouri and Minnesota.
Crystal Walkup purchased this cabin in 2010
We have always loved the Kalispell area for its beautiful scenery and closeness to many outdoor activities.
We love the wildlife you can see from the house, as well as hearing the creek and seeing it from the loft bedroom in the house.
What a great place to stay! This spacious and clean cabin provided all the amenities needed. Loved the secluded setting with two outdoor patios to choose. The owners provided very detailed and accurate directions. Really enjoyed the evening drives back to the cabin, landscapes dotted with more deer than one could count. The wood burning stove provided a cozy setting for the chilly late summer nights.
We stayed here for our vacation to Glacier National Park, which would be quite a trek each day if it wasn't for the beautiful scenery in Montana, which made the drives quite satisfying and seemingly quick (about 1 1/2 hours if I remember correctly).
We made most of our meals in the cabin, but Moose's Saloon was quite the local drinking hole experience in Kalispell ($2 microbrews all the time), and Hops in downtown Kalispell had very delicious burgers.
Would highly recommend this cabin to those who don't mind a little drive to attractions and want to get away from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Great value! This cabin helped us all truly enjoy our Glacier National Park experience!
The cabin was pretty much as advertised. It was clean and kitchen amenities were good. The owner met us and gave us good directions to property. The futon bed does not really work for an adult but would be fine for a child. The surrounding country side was beautiful with a lot of deer and a bubbling stream on the property. The one negative thing I would say is the water to the cabin is full of rust. It tastes bad and the water actually stained our clothing when we used the washer.
It would be impossible to adequately praise this very comfortable and lovely retreat home nestled into beautiful woods with a gently flowing creek tucked in behind. The bedrooms were very comfortable (with a lovely en suite Master Bath complete with a walk-in shower), the kitchen well equipped, and the living room welcoming and restful. The property is sufficiently far off the beaten track that one feels a sense of retreat, but is nonetheless close enough to Kallispell and Whitefish for great shopping and all of the wonderful points of exploration in the area, from Glacier Natl Park to the fabulous Flathead Lake. The owners are just incredibly gracious people who did far more than was necessary to help us settle in, discover this beautiful part of the country, and enjoy a much-needed respite. We can't wait to come back and enjoy such beauty again. Little phone coverage and no wifi or cable/satellite TV might prove to be an inconvenience to some. To us, these were part of our break and we appreciated these 'features' too. For those looking to explore this part of Montana, we can't think of a more restful, beautiful, and central spot from which to begin your great adventure. Enjoy!
The property is located in a secluded, quiet setting, with a bubbling creek close to the house that you can hear when you open the windows. Located about 14 miles southwest of Kalispell, only 1/4 mile off of a paved road, it is a great starting place to visit Glacier National Park (50 miles), Whitefish Mountain Resort (37 miles), Blacktail Ski area (45 miles), Flathead Lake (26 miles), Wildhorse Island, Trail of the Cedars (110 miles), Kootenai Falls (96 miles), Lone Pine State Park (18 miles), and many area lakes, rivers and trails offer whitewater rafting, canoeing, sailing, fishing, horseback riding, and hiking. During the snow season all-wheel or 4 wheel drive vehicles are recommended, as the roads are plowed, but often remain slippery.
