This home has 2 bedrooms each with a queen size bed and a third bedroom with a twin bed. It has a great room with fireplace, fully equipped kitchen and laundry room. There is a screened porch for dining or relaxing. It has a great swing. There is excellent fishing from the dock and plenty of room to tie up your boat.
I came to Mississippi in 2005 just after Katrina to help with the recovery. Bought this home in 2006. It was gutted at the time so I completely rehabbed it and moved in in 2007. It has been a great place to call home for the last 6 years. I am married now and have moved to a larger place in Diamondhead but I will always remember some of my best years 'Livin' the dream on the Bayou'.
Owner/Property Manager purchased this cottage in 2006
When I decided to buy a waterfront property on the bayou I looked at around forty of them, some less damaged some bigger some more expensive, some less expensive. But most were on a canal, dug by man, with other homes across the canal. it would be like living in a subdivision only water instead of black top. This home is on a natural bayou at the convergence of waters that creates an unbeatable view with marsh lands across the water and wildlife all around. I have made the inside as beautiful as the outside with large windows, an open floorplan great room and a very comfortable screened porch.
The location of the home is perfect. You are less than an hour's drive from The New Orleans French Quarter and all that Louisiana has to offer but you are out of the hustle and bustle. In the other direction you are minutes from Gulfport/Biloxi's great casinos and attractions. But the real beauty of the location is the community of Bay St. Louis itself. It is a little gem of a town with a great historic downtown area, lots of fun shops, restaurants and bars. There are miles of white sandy beaches to enjoy and an intricate system of bayous, canals and rivers that are exciting to explore by boat or kayak.
The house and location are perfect. All our activities were just 15 minutes, shopping and restaurants are close.
The house was great had everything we needed and friendly neighbors too. Really enjoyed the screened in porch and large deck. We were there every morning and evening enjoying the peace and quite. Seeing the otters swimming on by was a nice treat. Neighbor shared stories about Katrina, unbelievable. Wish we could have stayed longer. Owner was very helpful and patient, enjoyed working with him. This cabin was perfect for our family's needs. My niece and nephews came over and played on the porch, fished, and enjoyed a boat ride with my brother. Perfect for cooking out while overlooking the bayou. Owners provided plenty of local information for restaurants and local attractions. Cabin was well-stocked for basic necessities and even more. Thanks for sharing your home with us. The Smithhart family
Everything you hope for on VRBO. The property is as described, the price is right, and the owners are most accommodating offering you a right at home feel with a clean, well-stocked home in the sweetest, little spot in Bay Saint Louis! My husband especially enjoyed the complimentary fishing equipment as he wasn't expecting to get to throw a few casts into the bayou! We really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to another weekend with our boat in tow! Thank you Greg for your prompt responses before AND after our stay, and especially for accommodating us even at the last minute! For me, that was the best of all!
Beautiful, clean house right on the bayou. Decorated really nicely. My favorite spot was the screened in back porch. We spent the week prior in New Orleans and this is the perfect spot to just relax. If you like to fish this is the place. The guys next door caught a 15 lb. catfish this morning. We enjoyed Bay St.Louis. Great restaurants and shopping toured Stennis Space Center. Went to the Ground Zero Katrina Museum in downtown Waveland. We plan to come back this summer!
We picked the perfect spot to spend the new year. The house had everything we needed. We brought kayaks and spent hours each day exploring the area. The beach was only a 5 minute drive away but I was glad not to be right on the beach since it was much warmer at the house than on the gulf. The kids had fun fishing off the dock. Overall, we couldn't have found a nicer place for the money.
Enjoy some of the world's best fishing and boating. Relax in the peaceful setting of one of Mississippi's most beautiful, natural bayous. Or experience the exciting nightlife of local casinos and the New Orleans French Quarter. You can have it all in our bayou retreat. Try antiquing in the eclectic shops of Old Town Bay St. Louis and dining in the many fine eateries. Try your luck at gaming and golfing at nearby casinos. Fish off the dock or bring your boat to plunge into some of the best fresh water, salt water or in-between fishing on the planet. This a great place to go flat water kayaking. Both kayaks and bicycles are available for rent at Bay Breeze in Old Town. There is plenty to do in South Mississippi, both on and off the water.
