About Nina Holte

We purchased this property in 1999 and were married slightly later in the year. We started mowing and cleaning up more of the property, adding steady improvements, and upgrading a lot of the buildings and trails around the 120 acre property. We planted trees, hedges, shrubs, and added numerous gardens to the property and a 1-acre vineyard.

Nina Holte purchased this cottage in 1999

Why Nina Holte chose Coon Valley

This property was my husband Pete's family farm. We had wanted to keep this in the family and continue to improve, and add to the property. This farm at one time had a dairy barn, and a fairly large tobacco base.

What makes this cottage unique

The setting here is very appealing! The property is surrounded on several sides by running water. Several Waterfalls are on the property and the immediate scenery is incredible throughout the four seasons of the year.

Girls weekend

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home. We all loved it and enjoyed it tremendously. The owners were very friendly and on site if needed. Our weekend had beautiful weather so we had a great afternoon sitting by the waterfall and making memories...and drinking wine. Close to town if needed anything. We went to town to do some Antique shopping and then went to Viroqua to the Winery. Would recommend this rental to others. We are hoping to come back sometime.

Nicely secluded

  • 4 of 5

The house was lovely, nicely appointed for a VRBO offering and very well cared for. The owners were more than friendly and very accommodating. The setting was serene with a gorgeous nighttime sky.

I would have rated this at 5 stars but withheld one due to a couple of things:

Lack of cotton sheets. Micro fabric material is not desirable for most anything to include bedding. This type of fabric does not breathe and one tends to stick to the sheets.

Lack of proper sidewalks to the doors and lack of proper parking. Poured concrete would be a good choice for both. With the number of natural springs on the property, some of which are very nice, the ground can get and stay quite wet / muddy. Park off road at risk of becoming bogged down in mud.

Wonderful stay out in the woods in a beautiful home

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredible visit to the Villa at Waterfall Vineyards and will definitely be back. Trails that start on the property, cute town a short walk away and just overall a very welcoming experience. The owners were extremely accommodating and friendly and it was the perfect get away for our girls weekend... 6 of us were the perfect fit for this place! I would highly recommend a stay here - in fact, I'm strongly considering bringing my family back in the fall. It's fabulous!

Great Place! We Could Not Ask For Better Service!

  • 5 of 5

The owners are terrific. We had small children and they accommodated all of our requests. Our son loved to talk to them. The house was cleaned, friendly, practical and well set up. The location was secluded enough that we could relax but close enough to businesses and towns that we did not feel out of touch. If we had to rent again in this area, we would rent this place again.

B-Day Get-Away

  • 5 of 5

The Villa at Waterfall Vineyards was delightful! The location was very peaceful, relaxing, and lovely...the natural features provided a beautiful, calm environment. We (three cousins celebrating a birthday) could not have asked for more! Only sorry we were not able to stay longer. The owners, Nina and Pete, have thought of everything...so many amenities that are not often provided in hotels or other larger establishments. Also, they are extremely friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable of the area. Looking forward to staying at the Villa again in the near future. Fall would be a wonderful time to enjoy the colors of the season and a terrific campfire!

Beautful! Friendly service~

  • 5 of 5

We were looking for a romantic getaway with a little bit of adventure.

Our hosts were fantastic at giving us ideas on where to go for dinner--wine tastings, breweries and fun things to do. The house was a beautiful setting with a lovely fireplace. Great accommodations and good, friendly people.

They allowed us to use their snowmobile to check out the trails around the farm. We had a lovely time!
