Esperanza: Spanish interpretation 'anticipation - hope'
We live in Vancouver and have enjoyed the luxury of having a vacation spot in Whistler for 15 years, which we successfully rented on VRBO when we weren't there skiing or golfing. In 2006 during our first visit to Costa Rica we discovered Playa Negra and heaven on earth. Now that we have completed the construction of our new vacation home (completed Dec 2012), we are enjoying the warmth of the costa rican sun and the hospitality that Costa Rica has to offer. We have built Villa Esperanza with much care and attention to detail to ensure our guests are beyond comfortable and not left wanting - the only problem is - you won't want to leave. The home is built to accommodate a single family or can be easily shared by 2 family's and or friends.
Playa Negra offered the perfect, tranquil beachfront get away - away from the hustle and bustle of a hectic life, while having amenities such as shopping and restaurants close by. Who could resist the incredible beach and the crashing waves.
Luxury Villa - View - Beach You only need to walk onto the terrace to check out the world class surf. There are endless activities in the immediate area depending on how active you want to be or, you can stroll the beach looking for the perfect seashell or the not so perfect one. Relax on the terrace or in the infinity pool and watch the most spectacular sunsets with the zen of crashing waves.......chill after a full day on the water or maybe some personal time with your fishing rod......
Additional activities: boogie boarding, paddle boarding, dolphin watching, sunset cruise, zip trek, ATV, turtle watching, nature tours river or jungle, bird watching, walking the beach in search for shells, discover the tidal pools and yoga.
Playa Negra Restaurants:
1 of our favorites is Villa Deveena for fine french dining in a secret oasis setting. Casual dining try Mary's Place, Cafe Playa Negra or Hotel Playa Negra. A must do is lunch at Lola's which is only 5 minutes to the north in Avenallas.
Junquillal is a 10 minute drive (5Km) to the south and has a small but fairly well stocked grocery store for basic items, including spirits.
Tamarindo is the main town in the area and is 20 - 25 minutes to the north. You will find larger grocers, banks, many beach side restaurants, bars, surf and gift shops.
Gas stations are few and far between so you must plan in advance - Santa Cruz, 30 / 35 minutes south east has gas stations. There is not a lot to see here but there are grocery stores and basic services.
Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency () unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.
