We were a family of 4 - Me, my wife and the two kids (3 and 6 year old). Starting with the house: Comfortable, cozy, functional! Exactly what we needed. With the local product and kitchen we were able to whip up meals for ourselves. The setting: Amazing. This is what is a breath taker. Its in the middle of a jungle, right across a big waterfall (5 minute walk), has a superlative hike built into the backyard (that goes for quite a few miles), has a small stream in front and exotic birds, frogs and fireflies all around. The location is close to El Gaital, Chorro macho and many other places worth visiting. The only worry we had was finding the house (which is not easy at all). While you are there, make sure to contact Carlos who was our guide and knew the area very well including the stories, back paths and hidden areas (ph: 507-6486-3673). Between our home and Carlos this was the best vacation we had! Thanks Maribel
We recently stayed at this property after seeing it on the VRBO site and instantly deciding this was the place to visit for a relaxing trip. Although we only stayed for two nights I can say that I have never felt so relaxed in any other place before. The owner was in constant contact with us and gave us so much information that we never felt as though we would want for anything. The caretaker Lorenzo is incredibly attentive and had a small problem with hot water fixed instantly (there is NO problem with hot water, don't worry). The surrounding gardens are wonderful with the small stream meandering through the grounds. Take the time to walk up the trails at the side of the property and you'll see some incredible views. At night don't be afraid to wander round as I saw quite a few different tree frogs and other creatures around in the gardens. The walk into town is pleasant (downhill) but catching a bus is very easy and only costs 30 cents. Just flag down any minivan and check that it's going to the centre of town. For getting home just ask if the bus goes in the direction of Chorro Macho as El Sueno is only 3 min walk from the waterfalls (worth visiting by the way!!). El Sueno is actually a bit larger than the photos show. There is a very comfy kitchen/dining room inside with a sofa and a TV with DVDs to watch. There's a BBQ you can use and a hammock which you can hang at the side of the house. All cooking implements and towels etc are provided and everything is immaculately clean. Lorenzo really does an amazing job. You won't need air conditioning as the climate is perfect. In the unlikely event you need blankets, these are also provided. This really is a wonderful property, there is a sofa bed downstairs along with a single chair bed too but the property is absolutely ideal for a couple with the lovely bedroom in the loft. The bed is very comfy too. In short I have zero problems recommending this property to anyone looking, if I had any reservations it's that I hope there's still availability for when we go back as we decided then and there that this would not be our last visit to El Sueno Esmerelda.
Both the house and grounds of this property are amazing - so peaceful and relaxing. The house has everything you could possibly need for a comfortable stay and is close enough to the town to get supplies, though you should have a car. The owner responded quickly to e-mail and the caretaker (Lorenzo ) was pleasant and easy going, even guiding us on a couple of hikes. I could not have been happier with this house and would gladly recommend it to anyone.
A wonderful jungle house in a large slice of paradise in the Gaital national park. The property is close to the famous El Chorro Macho waterfall, and is about 15 minutes walk to town. Having a car is highly recommended. The area surrounding the property is breathtakingly beautiful. The house, while cozy, had all the modern amenities - Refrigerator, Stove, Oven, all utensils etc. The owner was very friendly and easy to deal with.
This is a great place to stay in El Valle. It is only a 5 minute drive to town but it is completely secluded on a really large piece of property. There is a waterfall/natural swimming pool right down the street, which is a popular place for tourists and locals. If you're not sight seeing around town, hanging out at the house is just as nice, if not nicer. As far as the cabin goes, it has everything you'll need for a comfortable stay. Definitely would recommend this place for families, couples or friends. Enjoy the noises of the jungle at night, most people buy CDs from Sharper Image to sound like this while they sleep.
This is truly an enchanting getaway in the midst of serene gardens in a quiet area of town. Yet you are still close to what Valle de Anton has to offer. We spent our afternoons relaxing on the comfortable front porch watching the birds and the striking incandescent blue morpho butterflies that were often present. This is a private setting although you can still watch the occasional local resident travel along the winding road that fronts this secure, gated property. We felt very safe and the cabin had everything you could want. The owner is very responsive and trustworthy. We paid up front, including a deposit that was promptly returned. Be sure to print out her instructions to take with you in case the gate is locked when you arrive. The very helpful caretaker does not speak any English, so brush up on your Spanish as you’ll need it throughout much of Panama. If you are a tall person or have any physical infirmities, remember the bathroom is downstairs while upstairs is the romantically decorated bedroom, where you cannot stand up straight except for the very middle of the room and if you are less than 6 feet tall. If this is a problem, you can easily sleep downstairs on the couch or pull-out bed. We just loved this place so much we went to the grocery store and cooked all our meals here just so we could have more time to enjoy the property – dangling our feet in the little stream, wandering around to look at the plants and just soak up the incredible beauty. We drove around town and saw some hotels, but nothing beat this place. You will not regret a minute in this little paradise.
