Gettysburg House Rental Photos and Description

1st floor of historic building (2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, garden, parking)

This charming Civil War era house is located on historic Baltimore Street in downtown Gettysburg. The first floor has been restored, with two bedrooms (queen beds), and there is a queen pullout sofa bed in the TV room, so the house can sleep 4 + 2. The bathroom has a shower. In addition there is a fully fitted kitchen, dining room, reading room, and a parlor with a gas-log fire. There is central a/c throughout. At the rear of the house is a secluded garden and parking for 2 cars.

The house is ideal for 4-6 people. You can walk to most of the shops and restaurants. The National Military Park (Battlefield) is two minutes walk away. Paranormal investigators might enjoy their experience here as well!

About Owner/Property Manager

I have operated a business in Gettysburg for 25 years, and currently own the Barclay House (vacation rental), four shops and an ice cream parlor, and I am the co-owner of The Brickhouse Inn B&B.

Owner/Property Manager purchased this house in 1994

Why Owner/Property Manager chose Gettysburg

I bought the house with the intention of living in downtown Gettysburg, but moved into The Barclay House instead.

What makes this house unique

The house witnessed the Battle of Gettysburg. It has many charming period features. It has an ideal location.

Spacious and comfortable home

  • 5 of 5

There is something lovely about eating with friends and family around a large dining table at the end of a busy day. Mark's house is spacious - a comfortable living room and a large dining room. We cooked most meals. There was a great quiet dish washer. We sat in the sun on the back deck. The house is just steps from the shops in town. I highly recommend the Segway tours of the battlefields.

If you could add one thing to the house it would be a second bathroom, but it is a historic, old house, beautifully kept, clean, with lovely bedding.

It was perfect!

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at this charming Civil War period home and it made an already perfect vacation even better! It was immaculate, well laid out, has a new kitchen and bathroom, the washer/dryer were invaluable, and is in a great location that allowed us to walk to almost anywhere in the heart of town. Plus the owners were as charming and gracious as the home itself. We truly felt at home there and it will definitely be our go-to place on our next visit.

Great House

  • 5 of 5

This house is kept immaculately clean and has been recently refurbished so the kitchen/bath and entire house seems brand new. The fact that it's a civil war era house makes it so much fun to be in Gettysburg for three days. Everything is in walking distance, just pull into the parking spots out back and you are conveniently located. Great restaurants, ice cream spots, historic markers, and people watching galore. Only time we got in the car was for the auto tour of the battlefield and to drive to the visitor center (which we could have walked but we were doing auto tour right afterwards). Beds comfortable, kitchen fully stocked with cooking items if you bring your own groceries. AC was awesome. Back bedroom was perfect for being away from the street noise. Sleeps 6 comfortably, one bath with a tub/shower and washing machine and dryer. Perfect place to stay. Would highly recommend. Owner was very nice and accommodating about check in and out times and we were able to contact him easily.

Comfortable, convenient, relaxing

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here for three nights while visiting Gettysburg on our way to Philadelphia. The owner is super laid back and easy to deal with. He even called me before I rented to answer some questions. Upon arrival, the house was immaculate and the A/C was appropriately cool. We used both bedrooms and the parlor bed (which my teen loved because he could close the doors off to the rest of us). We also used the washer and dryer, the kitchen, and the DVD player and TV. Even though it was a bit on the cool side while we were visiting, the A/C worked great and would keep you cool even when it's really hot. The house was also conveniently located on a main street with access to everything in town and the battlefield, and within walking distance of ice cream and several restaurants. It was awesome to be able to spread out a bit before we traveled on to Philly and had to confine ourselves to a regular hotel room. Would definitely recommend.
