Casa de Delfines is located on the first street outside of Puerto Viejo and only a 200 meter walk down our quiet street to Playa Negra. This location means you are close to fabulous restaurants, shopping, spas, and nightlife in town and in complete tranquility at the house!
The lower level consists of a dining room, kitchen, full bathroom, bedroom, and laundry room. The dining room has a hardwood table and chairs. The kitchen is fully equipped for days when you would rather eat in. The full bathroom has terra cotta tiles and a large walk-in hot water shower. The downstairs bedroom has air conditioning and is the perfect place for sensitive electronics. The laundry room has a washing machine and wash basin. Dirty beach clothes are no problem and no need to pack tons of clothes!
The beautiful hardwood upper level consists of the living room, two bedrooms, and half bath. There are cathedral ceilings for great air flow and Hunter fans in every room. The living room is open air and faces towards the Caribbean. There are chair hammocks so you can relax and listen to the sounds of the jungle and ocean! The half bath can be accessed from both bedrooms. The master bedroom has a full sized bed, mosquito net, and shelves for clothing. The second bedroom has two twin beds with mosquito nets and also has shelving for clothing. Also each bedroom has a keyed door.
The outside is completely fenced and gated for security and there are tall privacy hibiscus lining the entire property. The entrance gate is beautifully carved with dolphins and opens to a covered carport for your vehicle. The back patio has a large hammock for lounging by the new concrete outdoor grill which is perfect for cooking up your day's catch without heating up the kitchen. If you see any ripe bananas, cocoa, plantains, papaya, limes, passion fruit, or coconuts in the garden feel free to pick any of them and try what a truly fresh organic piece of fruit tastes like!
The house has a home phone for free local calls and wireless Internet. There is a large safe for personal belongings. Casa de Delfines gives you the comforts of home while being in a tropical paradise!
We came to Puerto Viejo with our family and fell in love with the area and the people. It was like finding that dream place that has been in your head for a long time. We knew we had to call Puerto Viejo home, at least part- time! Since we cannot be there full-time we want to share our home and this wonderful place with others.
Krystle Richardson purchased this house in 2012
We believe it is a great house for many reasons. It's proximity to the beach and town are perfect. The home has a cool concrete bottom with vaulted ceilings and ceiling fans on the upper level for maximum comfort. The kitchen and bathrooms have all of the modern conveniences that make you feel at home while in a jungle paradise.
This is a wonderful house just outside of Puerto Veijo. My family had a great stay here. The location is terrific! Very short stroll to an incredible black sand beach and town. There are all sorts of restaurant options within walking distance or cook your own meals in the well equipped kitchen. We also found a yoga studio that we visited every morning....what a great way to start the day. There are many options for things to do in the area with several businesses in town to organize trips or rent sporting goods. This is a great place to enjoy a wonderful holiday....whether it be relaxing or active.
We stayed at this lovely home for the weekend and we enjoyed it tremendously. It's a great house, everything you need is in it, great locations, owners and property manager are truly nice people. I recommend this place 100%!

My husband and I absolutely loved our stay at Case de Delfines. Krystle was so helpful leading up to our stay and the property manager, Susanna, was such a sweetheart and so full of helpful information. She even called a friend of hers to find out where we should snorkel. The house was clean, cozy, with a lovely open-air upstairs that allowed you to sleep with the sounds of the ocean and the jungle. The property is a quick five minute walk from the main part of the Puerto Viejo town. Overall we had an amazing experience at this property and would highly recommend it to anyone.
Beautiful 2 floor home. Just as advertised. 3 bedroom, 2 baths. Could sleep up to 6 people. Great location. Steps from black sand beach and 5 minute walk into Puerto Viejo. Functioning kitchen. Main floor bathroom has shower with nice pressure and plenty of hot water (nice after day at the beach). Great upstairs outdoor space. We slept upstairs with windows open and slept great. You can hear the jungle all around. Loved this house!
Thank you for sharing your amazing home with us! Krystle was extremely responsive to inquiries, and went above and beyond in providing information about the area, including multiple options for how to get there from San Jose.
The neighbor and landscaper, Oscar, promptly met us at the house upon our arrival to provide the keys and show us around the house and the property. He even retrieved a coconut from a tree on the property, cut it open for us so that we could try the coconut water inside, and showed us how to retrieve them for ourselves.
The house is just as it is described, and the pictures are accurate. The house was neat and tidy, and absolutely amazing. We particularly enjoyed the open air living room, and spent most of our time there when we were not out exploring the area. The yard is picturesque, and we enjoyed having our morning coffee in the open air living room and listening to the sounds of nature. We slept upstairs every night, in a room without air conditioning, and we were comfortable. We were awoken every morning to the sounds of waves crashing on the beach, multiple bird species chirping, and howler monkeys. It was heaven. The internet at the house worked extremely well, and there was a radio upstairs that we had on most of the time when were hanging out at the house.
The beach is just a short walk down the lane, and town is also a short walk down the road or the beach. We usually stopped in at Kaya's Place on our way into town and on our way back to the house, where we made friends from all over the world. Thank you to Dex and Anthony for taking good care of us there.
Puerto Viejo is a lovely town with lots of shops and restaurants. We particularly enjoyed Outback Jack's Roadkill Grill and the owner's Jack and Penny. We also visited the Jaguar Rescue Center and went horseback riding on the beach and through the jungle, both of which were a short car ride away, and I highly recommend both. At the house, Krystle has provided lots of information about these and other available tours/excursions in the area.
Our vacation was magnificent, in part because of Krystle's hospitality and communication. We plan to visit Costa Rica again, and would definitely try to stay at Casa de Delfines again.
Thank you Krystle and Josh; Pura Vida!!!!
We stayed here for the month of February. It is located a 5 minute walk from a very private beach with black sand. Relaxing was easy listening to the sounds of the ocean and enjoying the ocean breezes. The house has a bedroom, bath with large shower, kitchen & dinning area on the screened first floor with an open sitting area on the second floor including 2 bedrooms & 1/2 bath. All bedrooms have a keyed door. The only a/c was in the downstairs bedroom but honestly it wasn't needed except for a few days. The house was clean and comfortable and the yard was magnificent. Oscar the yard man takes great pride in the yard and even cut some coconuts for us. Susana the manager was there to meet us and checked in several times to be sure everything was ok. She even helped us to the bus station when we were leaving. Krystle, the owner, was a pleasure to deal with and supplied all the information we needed for our first trip to Costa Rica. Lots of "soda's" close by, wonderful bus service, grocery stores and all within walking distance. I would suggest a few items to improve this rental: new pots & pans, more than 1 wine glass, rod to hang clothes in downstairs bedroom. With that said, I would certainly recommend this property to anyone wishing a affordable place in Puerto Viejo.
