|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
Our beachfront getaway is on the 6th floor of Playa Azul I, in the seaside village of Luquillo, located in the northeast coast, northwest of Fajardo; and east of Rio Grande. It is approximately a 30 minute drive from San Juan Airport.
Playa Azul I is part of a gated complex with a swimming pool, and tennis and basketball courts. The front gate and buildings are staffed with security 24/7. The beach is less than a one minute walk! Please note that the beach in front of the condo is not staffed by lifeguards.
The apartment has two bedrooms each with new air conditioners. Bedroom 1 has one queen sized bed and on suite bathroom with walk-in closet. Bedroom 2 is larger and has one king sized bed with an on suite bathroom and walk-in closet. Each bedroom has windows that open overlooking the ocean. Bed linen for all beds and towels are Egyptian high-end cotton.
The kitchen is fully equipped with a new cooktop, dishes, knives, utensils, and cookware. We also have a washer and a dryer for your convenience.
The living room has a ceiling fan to circulate the ocean breeze to keep things cool. We have an HD TV with a cable and WiFi internet access.
We have a large balcony to enjoy the scenic view. We eat most of our meals outside.
DO NOT LEAVE SMALL CHILDREN UNATTENDED ON THE BALCONY!! They may crawl up on furniture and be in danger. Keep the furniture away from the railing.
You can have a lazy relaxing vacation, active vacation or a combination of both!
Monserrate Beach or Luquillo Beach has breathtaking coconut palms that shade more than a mile of fine and shimmering sand. It is one of the most popular and nicest public beaches in the San Juan area. It offers food stands, public bathrooms with showers, access for disabled people, and an ample parking lot. This is one of the public beaches most frequented by the locals and is a 10 minute walk or a 2 minute drive from Playa Azul. Lifeguards are on staff and the water is warm and calm.

Michael lives in Minneapolis MN in the freezing cold winters. I love traveling, meeting new people and experiencing other cultures.
Michael purchased this apartment in 2012
Luquillo is special to my family. We started vacationing here 7 years ago as a family and were 'hooked!' Playa Azul I is on the beach with the scenic views we love.
Our apartment has views of both El Yunque Rainforest and the ocean. We feel so relaxed and at home in Playa Azul. We hope you will feel the same!!

This is a lovely 2 bedroom spot with an amazing view of the beach across the street! Both room have good AC, the beds are comfy, the beach is fantastic, and the pool is also good. If you are coming with kids, there is a nice playground, and there is actually a pack 'n play in the apartment, which we didn't realize, so you don't need to travel with a crib. I will go back for sure! The rainforest is close, there is a super market nearby. Overall we had a great time with two little kids. Thanks!
Perfect location for all the activities that we wanted to do. Loved the lay out with the bedrooms separated by the living room and each bedroom had its own bathroom. Management was very friendly and helpful.
This place fit our needs perfectly. It's not some super posh resort (nowhere in Luquillo is), but it was nice and clean enough and was strong in the places that we were most interested, namely that it had a big balcony with a nice view and a good location.
The place was missing a few simple things like a sponge and trash bags, but we were able to pick those up at the Walgreens across the street. It was also only a short drive to all the things we were interested in over near Luquillo, namely Balneario Monserrate, El Yunque, the Fajardo Ferry, the Bio Bay, and the Kiosks.
When at the condo we spent most of our time on the spacious, gorgeous balcony which was the main reason we chose this condo.
It's located in a bit of a rough looking area (again, most of Luquillo is going to look this way compared to a nice suburban neighborhood) but we never had any problems and the actual building itself is gated with a security guard.
My husband and I just spent 15 days at your wonderful condo. It was everything you said it would be and more. Beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed. Two bathrooms were a plus. We loved the ocean breezes and the sound of the surf from the condo. The location was the best, with the beach and water being right there. All the amenities, both in the condo and at Playa Azul were great. I especially loved all the cats. Thank you for all the tips on places to eat, shop, and things to see. So many within walking distance. El Flamboyan was a favorite of ours, great food and cheap beer. We met so many wonderful people at Playa Azul and loved partaking in the St. Patrick's Day festivities - parade and meal. The Rain Forest is a must for anyone that has never been to one. It was breathtaking. And the roadside eateries on the weekend gave us a good "taste" of the local culture. Definitely a trip we will always remember. Thanks again.
My family of 4 (including 2 teenage boys) stayed for a total of 8 nights at Playa Azul I the first week of June 2013. We chose to stay in Luquillo due to the close proximity to the El Yunque Rainforest. It is also a very simple and relaxing town to stay in with restaurants within walking distance and makes a great hub for day trips to other parts of the island. The view from the condo is AMAZING and the balcony is great.
However, PLEASE BE ADVISED that while we were there 2 people drowned on the beach directly in front of our condo and one of them was even a rescue worker/lifeguard who drowned trying to save his son, who also drowned. This is not a safe beach for swimming. It is gorgeous, but not advisable to go out more than 8-10 feet from the shore, if that. There is a very safe and tranquil beach just a few minutes by car, Monserrate Balneario, which is a public beach area right by the famous Luquillo Kioskos. It is about $4 a day to park there and there are showering facilities and snack/drink vendors. Monserrate Beach is a gorgeous and serene beach with clear, calm waters.
The condo has ample room for a family of 4 with 2 separate bedrooms and a rollaway bed as well. There is a small kitchen and laundry in the kitchen area. Not very spacious but if only 1 person is in the kitchen cooking it is adequate and has all the pots, pans, utensils and serving pieces that you will need. The condo is gated and you will have 1 key to go in and out of the gate to the beach, which is kept locked and you will not be able to use the gate after 6pm as it will be chained up at that time. There are no exceptions. There is a large pool and basketball courts on the grounds. The guards are helpful and friendly.
This is a clean, basic condo that has everything you need for your stay in Puerto Rico, my favorite place on earth :)
We particularly enjoyed this VRBO for its access to the beach. We were able to take long morning walks all the way to Luquillo beach each morning. It was also in easy proximity to walk to dinner every night or to the kioskos during the day. It was easily reachable by PR 3 and provided us easy access to the east coast and Fajardo as well as Loiza and San Juan. We used it as a launching off point for several excursions to the ferry at Fajardo, El Yunque, and the Pinones forest.
The rooms were large and the kitchen well appointed. We found a grocery store nearby and were able to cook many meals in the kitchen and found every tool we could need. Beach gear in the form of towels, sand castle making materials, and chairs were available for use. The laundry access was a life safer! Also, we enjoyed borrowing several books from the library in the lobby downstairs.
Enoc and Michael were very helpful and answered every question we had with speed and accuracy. Also, we felt very safe with the building and parking lot guards. One guard at the parking gate in particular was very kind and took to greeting us each time we came. We felt like residents! This was truly a highlight of our trip. Thank you for helping us make these memories. We highly recommend this VRBO! We would love to return.
