About Kathy Alford
We have lived locally in Pendoggett for more than 30 years and have offered holiday cottages at Higher Trewiggett for rental since 1999.
Kathy Alford purchased this barn in 1997
Why Kathy Alford chose Port Isaac
We had been looking for an opportunity to create a samll number of high quality holiday cottages from former farm barns. Our criteria were that the barns should be near the coast, near where we live and yet in an idyllic rural location.
Such opportunities come up rarely in our area as barn conversion holiday cottages are for the most part owned, developed and operated by local farmers and hardly ever come available on the open market. So we were looking for a very long time!
The opportunity to purchase Higher Trewiggett came about because a local farmer, who owned Trekee Farm, bought the adjoining Higher Trewiggett Farm to scale up his working land area – with the result that Higher Trewiggett Farmhouse and its farm buildings plus some of the surrounding land became surplus to requirements.
We heard that Higher Trewiggett was coming on the market on a Saturday evening, looked at the property on the Sunday and it looked ideal – wonderful old stone buildings, compact, private and peacefully yet conveniently located - and made an offer for it on the Monday. We bought the property in 1997 and developed the barn conversion holiday cottages between 1997 and 2000.
What makes this barn unique
Peaceful rural location yet close to the coast, golf courses and local attarctions.
