Tucked away, the cottage apartment is a very private location, set deep into the grounds of Beachcomber. Accessed directly from the gardens, Cottage has it’s own private garden and outside area for resting and relaxing, as well as a substantial lounge with a kitchenette. This used to be the bar area when Beachcomber was a country club, and so the bar has been converted into worktop with all amenities, facing into the lounge and it’s impressive traditional fireplace – a perfect option for those who love character in their holiday rentals! The two bedrooms are a generous double at the front and a twin single beds in the second rear bedroom. With plenty of space to spread out and a spacious family area at the front, Cottage is an ideal choice for families or those travelling as a group.

What a fabulous week we had at Casa Beachcomber, the location is perfect for those who want peace and quiet without the need of a short train ride to get a loaf of bread in the morning. I would recommend having the use of a small car if you have children with you but walking to the marina is not out of the question. The old country club makes for a perfect little hide-away without being pretentious or exclusive. The individual apartments, quirky layout, mature gardens and well maintained facilities are ideal for those not wanting the formal atmosphere of a hotel complex and yet a cut above the non-descript masses of apartment blocks springing up. I cannot praise highly enough the friendly and helpful assistance from Colin at the resort and Agatha, a delight to deal with. If you have teenagers who need entertaining, BoomBoom every night and like football bars this is probably not for you but if you can put up with a good read by the pool, a sea of gin & tonic, the smell of the garden flowers and the prospect of a Portuguese supper ahead of you, then I think you would not be too disappointed.

FANTASTIC WEEK AT CASA BEACHCOMBER!

My boyfriend and me want just to say thankyou for the wonderful week that we had spent in your beautiful cottage apartment. The apartment was delicious, big and comfortable, a very quiet place. THE PERFECT PLACE TO STAY!

We spent ten days in early September at this lovely place - and congratulated ourselves for having found this hideaway! The property is beautiful, lush garden, fantastic pool, nice terasses and balkonies, everything excellenty maintained (thanks to Colin, the caretaker, who is a very nice person and always willing to give advice or a helping hand!!). The Villa is placed on a hill a little outside of Lagos centre and the Marina. It took us about 20 Minutes to walk down to where the restaurants and the Marina are, but we had a car (which we would recommend to get to all the lovely beaches and bays arround this area). Lagos itself turned out to be an excellent starting point for various activities. There are lots of nice beaches and snorcheling spots nearby, we rented a motorbike one day to go to the West Coast and the Monchique Mountains (it's amazing how quickly you are away from the average beach tourism and feel like now you are REALLY in Portugal) and in the Marina there is a lot of water sports on offer (we went on a sailing trip, but they also have grotto trips, kayaking, glas-bottom boats, speed boats, etc.)
Once you are back home after a day ful of activities, Lagos offers a great variety of restaurants and bars. And if you don't want to walk back up to Casa Beachcomber, you can take a cab for arround 5 or 6 Euros. There is also a big supermarket (Pingo Doce) nearby Casa Beachcomber (close to the Marina) where you can get everything you need to self-supply you. the kitchen in the Pool Appartment that we stayed in was perfectly equipped and we also used the huge Barbecue that they have at the pool. Ah - and we actually used the jacuzzi as well: We didn't think we would because it was really hot weather during our stay in Lagos - but after our motorbike trip we were quite chilled through and enjoyed half an hour in hot, bubbling water.

All in all we would highly recommend Casa Beachcomber for everyone that doens't want to stay in a hotel "ghetto" but prefers to have a lot of space and freedom - without having to lack comfort and nice, well-maintained surroundings. We could make use of all the lively sides of Lagos - but didn't HAVE to. We fell in love with the idea of coming back with all our friends and rent the whole Villa (not just one appartment) - but, well, I guess that idea has to wait for a little more :) Anyway - we would come back agai any time - thanks, Colin, and thanks, Agatha!

Beachcomber is as delightful and relaxing as it sounds. You can see twinkling of the sea from here, but you’re surrounded by stirring countryside. It’s prime walking territory. You could head for a hike in the hills or be in town or on the unspoilt Meia Praia beach in 10 minutes. On the way, at Marina de Lagos where boat frequently set sail for leisure, fishing or watch dolphins in the ocean, it's truly amazing sights. Or you may prefer to take a leisurely walk on the Promenade by the river; a wonderful place to watch sunset. The delightful Lagos centre with its historic Castle, churches and traditional tiled buildings set along wander of cobble streets, squares with fountains where there are fantastic selections of restaurants, café and bars. Zoomarine, Slide & Splash and ZooLagos are within half an hour by car. For Golf lovers, Beachcomber is only 1 km away from Palamres, 10 minutes from Boa Vista, 15 minutes from Parque de Floresta to the West and Penina to the East.

Other Activities: Restaurants and bars at the Marina and Pingo doce supermarket are with in 15 minutes walk

Large beautiful well planted mature garden with orange and lemon trees for shade near the pool. Lovely, well maintained lawn that used to be a bowling green. A purpose built barbecue , 5 person jacuzzi / hot tub under palm tree and a swing seat all near the pool. Lagos is popular with holidaymakers from northern Portugal and so boasts a vast array of fantastic restaurants, interesting sights and stunning coastline and beaches. Sun worshippers will not be disappointed with the reliable Algarve weather bringing them the best to either relaxing in private by the villa’s large pool, or it’s a short walk to the longest beach in the area, Meia Praia.
