Easy going and love life! Love to travel as much as I can with my wife an enjoy all of the great cultures this world has to offer. I enjoy helping others do the same by offering up our home and sharing my experiences.

Marco Nelson purchased this house in 2010

After living in New Orleans we quickly realized that the Uptown, Garden District area was the best place to be to enjoy all that New Orleans has to offer and still get the traditional southern neighborhood experience. Our home is over 100 years old and so are most of the homes in the neighborhood, so you get to stay in one of the homes most people take a tour from downtown to come look at.

Family trip in NOLA

This property is really nice. Great location, a little bit noisy because of the busy Tchoupitoulas St, but only in the green bedroom. Great location, short walk to Magazine St. The house is nicely renovated and well furnished. Some items are missing in the kitchen, like big sauce pans. An additional chair could be great because you can only seat 5 persons to eat.
The only problem we had in this house was the cleaning. This house really needs a DEEP CLEANING. The floor hasn't seen a vacuum and a mop for a while. We were not able to walk barefoot in the house without having the feet black... There was dust on all the furnitures and frames. The bathrooms were clean. The kitchen was not clean at all. We cleaned the fridge before to put our food in it, the dishwasher was disgusting, the range was dirty too. The cleaning fee is too high for how we found the house when we arrived and I think it doesn't worth it. The doors were dirty. I definitely recommend this property but it really needs to be cleaned. The owner is lovely and very responsive. He answered every time we had a question in a very short time. Super accommodating owner.

Owner's Response: Thank you for the great feedback! My wife and I are often on travel and often do not get to check up on the house between guests to ensure the cleaning crew is keeping the standard our guests expect. We have already spoken with the cleaning crew and have scheduled a deep clean to ensure all of the things you mentioned are taken care of.
Thanks again for staying and the great feedback so we can ensure future guests have a great stay.

Safe travels

A marvelous place for seven women for the annual "girls get away". Marcos was extremely accommodating whenever we called him. The house was clean, comfortable and had a private backyard to hangout in. Once we got ourselves orientated to the area it was close and very convenient to restaurants, shopping, transportation and fun! When we return to New Orleans this will be the place we will rent. Don't miss out on this one.

Great house, very spacious and perfect for three couples. It's about a 10-15 minute cab ride to the French Quarter. It's in a good neighborhood and there are a lot of great restaurants on Magazine street. We often used the trolley to get around which was very inexpensive and just a 5-7 minute walk from the house. Marco was very easy to work with and available to answer any questions we had.

My family & I love this house! It has such a warmth and great decor. It has everything you need to feel at home (kitchen fully stocked, blankets, etc). The bedrooms are a great size - sleeps 7 very comfortably. It's in a great location to walk to the St. Charles streetcar line, on the way you can see so many wonderful old style houses that are so beautiful. It's located close to huge grocery named Rauses. We found there was a mama cat with her three kittens living under the house, so adorable! If I could have coaxed them to trust me I would have taken them home. It has a nice backyard with a high fence- privacy wall. It's nice to sit outside around the table -so relaxing. It's a great house and a wonderful place to stay, in the most awesome city in America!

I definitely recommend staying at this house. My family and I were in town for a wedding and really enjoyed this house during our stay. We had 6 adults, 1 child, and 1 pet. There aren't that many house rentals in NOLA that are pet friendly so this was a pleasant delight. The house looks even better in person and is very spacious. It is located in the Garden District and only 3 blocks away from Magazine Street which has several restaurants, shops, and a grocery store (Breaux Market). The surrounding area doesn't have many paved sidewalks so it's not the greatest place for a stroll but it is definitely doable. We were able to walk to St. Charles and catch the streetcar to the French Quarter. We had 2 cars and were able to use the gated parking and easily park the other car in front of the house. There was one faulty chair in the dining area that collapsed while one of us was sitting on it, but the maid service handled this professionally and without incident. This is a very clean, comfortable, and more economical choice rather than staying at a hotel. Marco, the owner, answered all my questions before our visit and was very responsive.

Here are a few tiny suggestions for this house:
- Stronger water pressure for the guest bathroom shower
- Have a full length mirror in the guest bedroom.
- Have an additional key. (The lock-box for the key was very convenient but I would've liked an additional key for my other family members to make it even more convenient.)
- Have travel sized bath soap or shower gel in the bathrooms for guests to use.

Other than these minor suggestions, my family and I really enjoyed our stay at this house and definitely recommend it!
