Nestled at the top of a mountain, view the beautiful Avila Valley and Pacific Ocean from your cozy quiet apartment. Sit in front of the fireplace or on the balcony while watching the hawks soar, hummingbirds flutter and deer roam.
The open living room/kitchen boasts a 54 inch flat screen TV, Bose entertainment system and full kitchen. The bedroom has a Queen sized bed with full bathroom and lots of closet space for even long stays.
Enjoy a BBQ on the patio balcony while taking in the beauty that is the Central Coast or take a short trip down the mountain to the quaint town of Avila Beach to fish off the pier, take a walk or bicycle ride on the Jones Trail, golf, whale watch, have a special meal or soak in the redwood tubs under the stars or massage @ Sycamore Hot Springs and Spa. San Luis Obispo is a quick 15 minutes away with their famous Thursday Night Farmers' Market, many shops and restaurants. The 5-cities area to the south including Pismo Beach is just 10 miles away. Being surrounded by almost 200 wineries, wine tasting is very popular. Travel north about 1 hour to the magnificent Hearst Castle stopping nearby to see the elephant seals who migrate here. There is so much to do or not to do, depending on your heart's desire. Come visit us at this secluded special place.
We are nestled on a mountain side on twenty acres, over looking the Avila valley and the Pacific Ocean. Please check out our website for more information.
Quiet and in the country, but close enough to all that the central coast has to offer. 10 minutes away from San Luis Obispo, 10 minutes to Pismo , and 5 minutes to Avila .
This was a wonderful place to stay. The accommodations were lovely, very clean and the amenities were very thoughtful. The view from the apartment (and also on the balcony) are spectacular. You get a healthy dose of viewing the ocean and the hills. We would stay here again in a New York-Minute!
Worked out to be a perfect place for me to spend surfing, fishing, watching movies, 1-1 time etc. with my boys. Great location, very clean and nicely laid out for a small place. The time went by too quickly!
This place is totally amazing. I spent three months at fern canyon rim this winter. Lots of elbow room and quiet and peaceful. The owners are wonderful people. They give you lots of space but they are always available to
help you out if you need them. The apt. had everything I needed. The bed was excellent. Their place is off the
beaten busy path but yet it is close to everything that is interesting and fun...Harford Pier & Old Port Beach, Avila Beach & Pier, Pismo Beach & Pier, SLO & shopping & dining, Morro Bay & the Rock, Cayucos, Hearst Castle, wineries. I think of fern canyon rim everyday and I miss it. It was an incredible experience for me.
My husband and I just spent a wonderful four nights enjoying this perfectly comfortable space with its amazing views and fascinating hummingbirds. It was a perfect stay, we had everything we needed, spent much time enjoying the view and the hummingbirds, and found the location to be perfect for us.
It is a steep drive up to the property but that's why it has such amazing views. It is a lovely drive and we saw quail several times, enjoyed the fruit trees along the way, and saw several scrub jays (we don't often see those in WA state). Our final night there was an owl on the roof (we heard the eerie calls over the sound of the tv program we were watching so we knew it was close by!) and we were lucky enough to be out on the deck to see it swoop down after a meal.
It feels like a stay in the country yet it is about a 5 minute drive to San Luis Obispo, Pismo Beach, or Avila Beach. We would love to return to this special place.
Lovely cottage with an outstanding view! One thing to note: if you hate/are trying to escape fog, this area is not where you want to stay. We were socked in both mornings, but we loved the reprieve from the heat. The view of the hills & the ocean were clear by noon.
Other things worth mentioning: the hummingbirds! I have feeders at home, but there are never as many hummers around them as there were here;
The bed was fabulous on all counts;
The drive through the neighborhood (to the very long driveway) & up to the property is lovely;
It was very quiet & peaceful...a great way to wind down from our driving holiday.
SLO is a fun city for walking around, shopping & stopping for a glass of wine. Be sure to go to the farmers market & have appetizers & wine at Granada Bistro & Inn.
I found all to be as indicated in the description and photos. It's up a steep hill but only a 5-minute drive from 101 and well worth the ascent. Good views. You will hear the distant roar from the hwy on the porch but not from inside. Note that one of the owner's lives over the same garage and immediately next door, so "your" porch is not a completely private one. She did not use her end, however, during my week's stay other than to refill the hummingbird feeders daily. A bit of sound transmits through the wall, but was not intrusive. The living rm/dining/kitchen is cosy but adequate as long as you aren't doing much real cooking because there is only a foot or so of counter space between the stove and sink, and that's where the washed dishes are draining. The microwave and frig are more than adequate for easy meal preps during a short stay. For a longer period, unless you eat most of your dinners out, I'd want more kitchen space. A cover for the stove that doubles as a work surface would be useful in that regard. Comfortable bed. Good experience! I'd be happy to return another year.
The Central Coast is the most beautiful place in the world! we have a mediteranian climate. We are surrounded by the beauty of the mountians, beaches and numerous wineries.
