George's Pond is a beautiful pristine lake with public access nearby. Jet ski's, kayaks and paddle boats are seen on the lake all summer. The loons pay a visit to our quiet cove and the bald eagles fish right outside our door. The mallard ducks will come visiting every day. If you are looking to unwind, come and enjoy the peace and quiet of the hammock located under the trees out front. Visit Acadia National Park and experience the best Mount Desert Island has to offer. Take a lighthouse tour or whale watching boat ride in Bar Harbor, all within 30 minutes of this peaceful place. Local restaurants, antique stores, water parks, miniature golf and plenty of shopping nearby.

Things to do:

Welcome to Wild Acadia Fun Park!

Experience the Bar Harbor region's best Fun Park and Water Slides! PLUS the only aerial park and ropes course for 100 miles! Wild Acadia offers affordable fun for the entire family! Experience our Aerial Adventure Park, slide down wickedly wonderful water slides, challenge your friends to a round of mini golf, or race your friends in our New for 2013 Go-Karts!

This is a hiking/biking trail. The entrance to it is on the black top road on your way to the cabin.

This link has a lot of cool things to do in the Bar Harbor area. Bar Harbor is on the same island as Acadia National Park.

This site has lots of information about Acadia. There is a free bus, provided by LL Bean, that has many routes around Acadia. We have information at the Nest about it, but the site is a great tool!

Thanks! Rick and Connie!

Stay TWO Weeks -- You'll Be Glad You Did!

My family of 5 (2 adults, 2 kids age 10 + 12, and Ginger the dog) had an absolutely wonderful time at Robin's Nest on our first 2-week vacation ever. Plenty to do right at the cottage -- kayaking, swimming, exploring the lake, and relaxing on the porch. Plus Acadia just 30-45 minutes away for whale watching, hiking, biking and taking in some truly magnificent views. Wonderful to be immersed in nature seeing birds and animals we never get to see in suburbia -- bald eagles, osprey, otters and porcupines.

Robin's Nest was clean, comfortable, and well equipped and owners were very friendly and helpful. They came out immediately when the weather turned cool and we asked to have the gas fireplace activated. They gave us useful local knowledge about the diving board and island to explore across the lake, best place to buy produce, etc. We especially loved having 6 kayaks so the whole family (even Ginger!) could paddle together.

VERY NICE BUT.....

  • 4 of 5
Very secluded property. You'll drive a mile on a gravel road. Neighbors are quiet. Very relaxing. Eagles flying around especially in the morning. My husband loved sitting out by the lake before the rest of us got up. Adequate for 4 people. Bunk house not optimal for sleeping. Air mattress came in very handy.

Take bottled water as the well water isn't the best tasting.

Dryer door broke and the owner had it fixed quickly.

Only big complaint was the bathroom wasn't clean. Black hair all over the tub and under the mat. Found leaves under rugs in bath and toilet wasn't cleaned completely. Told owner about hair in tub but the owner didn't send the cleaning crew back in - which would have been greatly appreciated.

Owner's Response: While we have had many wonderful reviews, the ones like this concern us most. We use a bonded cleaning staff and they did seem to fall down on their duties this time. I spoke with the renter and the cleaning staff about the issues, but the renter did not ask to have the bathroom "re-cleaned", which we would have happily done. We have taken steps to ensure that this doesn't happen again! Thank you for the feedback, we truly appreciate it! it is our goal to make your vacation in our home memorable!

AMAZING VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
Thank you so much for sharing your piece of paradise with us. The cottage was clean and comfortable. The two oldest boys enjoyed having their own space while utilizing the bunk house.

As soon as we arrived at the cottage one of the boys cut himself on our bike trailer. I was far from unpacked and had no clue where my first aid kit was. To my surprise, the cottage was stocked with basic supplies including band-aids. Thank you for providing us access to supplies that we either forgot or could not easily locate.

The boys loved the pond, which honestly is what I would consider a lake. The kayaks were a family favorite. The boys will have fond memories of paddling out to the rock island and jumping off the diving board. I could not get enough of watching the eagles dive into the pond for their mid-morning snack. Everyone on the the pond was so friendly.

I could not of imagined finding a more perfect cottage to enjoy our Maine vacation. The fresh flowers and homemade cookies put the "welcome" beyond our expectations. Connie provided us with some fantastic information on the less-known parks to visit. She was great to work with. I highly recommend Robin's Nest. Everything (minus the occasional poison ivy) was perfect!

PERFECT VACATION

  • 5 of 5
PERFECT! This was a perfect place for peaceful rest and relaxation. The house is immaculate- everything we needed was at our fingertips. The access to the lake made for happy fishermen and the kayaks enabled us access to the wonderful water and wildlife. A pair of eagles entertained us between the songs of the loons and bullfrogs. We were close enough to travel most days to Acadia and even took a day trip to Canada to visit Campabello Island! We definitely would return to Robin's Nest and have already shared our photos and great review with many friends!
