About Sarah & Andy

We bought the house at the end of 2012. After spending vacations in Ventura we fell in love with the area. The beach lifestyle, surfing, kite boarding and diving are what make Ventura an amazing place to live and visit!

The relaxing and friendly vibe of the Pierpont neighborhood is what sets it apart from all others.

Awesome Getaway!

  • 5 of 5
We booked our stay at this vacation rental in Ventura to celebrate our wedding anniversary for a getaway week! We had an absolutely wonderful time! The house was so peaceful and comfortable. We loved being a block from the beach. We also enjoyed the beach themed backyard, palm trees swaying in the breezes and all! The spa was so relaxing. The kitchen was fully equipped and ready for cooking meals at home; pots, pans, dishes, etc. We really enjoyed the contact we had from Sarah, the owner. She made sure we had everything we needed. We definitely hope to stay here again!

Fantastic outdoor space, so relaxing!

  • 5 of 5
We had a super week at The Lazy Bay. The outdoor spaces are so fantastic that we spent most of our time at the house OUT of the house! We ate all but one meal outside, we enjoyed the spa in the cooler evenings (yes, even in July!), the fire pit was great, and there are two additional comfortable spaces to hang out, no wait, make that three if you count the hammock!
The rest of the house is wonderful as well, but the outdoor spaces truly make this place a gem. The kitchen was well-stocked with complementary spices, paper products, and even a bottle of wine. We appreciated having nice towels, great bedding, and again, paper products (TP :-) ) available. As we were visiting from the other side of the country, it was helpful not to have to buy anything but our food (even a few snacks were available though).
The only thing I would point out is that the bathroom is small and ready for an update (you may notice as I did that there are no photos of the bathroom), but everything else is as presented in the photos. Don't worry, even though the house is on one of the "main drags" of Ventura, you are far enough away from the few bars and restaurants on Seaward (i.e. any potential noise) that you won't even realize they are just a 2 minute walk away. This is a great home with a wonderful owner who is easily reachable and very accommodating. Thank you Sarah for a fun and relaxing week!!

Wonderful time! Great location and well stocked home!!

  • 5 of 5
My sons and I had a wonderful time in the house. It was very comfortable and welcoming. The kitchen is well stocked excellent cookware and serving ware. The beds are extremely comfortable with wonderful sheets!! The backyard is the jewel of the home. We had so much fun hanging out by the fire pit and soaking in the jacuzzi. The location can't be beat. It's within walking distance to restaurants and grocery stores. It's a quick drive to downtown Ventura. The beach is beautiful! We had a wonderful time and made wonderful memories.

Perfect for family of 4

  • 5 of 5
My family and I stayed at The Lazy Bay for the 4th Annual Clif Bar Mountains 2 Beach Marathon. It was the perfect getaway home we needed to start our summer vacation off right. The house was incredibly close to all the race events and some amazing restaurants—a couple within walking distance. And let’s not forget the short walk to the beach! Our girls, both under age 8, had no problem walking to the beach and back.
When we weren’t at the beach, we were relaxing in the amazing backyard paradise. When our girls first saw it, their jaws dropped! They then ran straight to the chalkboard—what a great idea! The outdoor shower made it super easy to wash all the beach sand off from bodies and toys. The hot tub was great for warming up after swimming in the Pacific. My wife and I really enjoyed the fire pit at night after the girls were tucked in, and we could enjoy a cold drink in the Adirondack chairs by the fire.
The Wi-Fi was fast and easy to connect to. The washer and dryer were not something we thought we’d need, but turned out to be most helpful. The beds were very comfortable, and our kids really enjoyed their room!
Sarah, the owner I corresponded with, thought of pretty much everything. They have many little provisions available to their guests, such as snacks and a bottle of wine. Very thoughtful.
There are only minor improvements I can think of making to this amazing property, and I mean minor. There is no reason I wouldn’t come back to TLB in a heartbeat! Nonetheless…there are a few things I can think of that would make this great property even better, starting with a garbage disposal in the kitchen sink.
The Rinai hot water heater was somehow turned up to the max temperature setting when we arrived, which led to some very hot surprises, including the outside shower hose rupturing. The temp control, located in the closet next to the bathroom, was not locked or secured, so I turned the temperature down to a safer level. It would be easy to put a clear lockbox over the temp unit to prevent unwanted temp changes by guests.
The hot tub cover was a little confusing to close our first night, as there are no instructions at the hot tub. A quick check in the well-organized house manual in the kitchen soon resolved the problem. I might also recommend instructions for the hot tub operations. Most were easy enough to figure out without them, though.
I’d recommend installing a simpler garage door. I believe our Honda Odyssey would have fit in

Wonderful Ventura Beach Vacation

  • 5 of 5
The Lazy Bay was the perfect Ventura vacation spot for our family of Mom, Dad, 2 kids and Grandma. The unique and beautiful décor and relaxed feel made for wonderful memories. We especially enjoyed the hot tub, hammock and outdoor chalkboard. We had everything we needed to enjoy the beach and accommodations. House was more spacious than the pictures suggest. It was impeccably clean and clearly well cared for. Owners were very responsive to questions and easy to work with. A very special spot. Highly recommend.

comfortable, relaxing home away from home

  • 5 of 5
My favorite things about this VRBO were the location, the yard, and the obvious care and attention to detail provided by the owners. This was the best appointed VRBO I have ever stayed in. No detail has been missed: kitchen tools, linens, well written instructions; the owners have invested in their guests having a wonderful experience. The space is so beautiful. The deck, hot tub, outdoor dining and shower, fire place, chalk wall, lanai, and in home decor were all designed to bring the beach into the living space. My third point is location. Being so close to a primary freeway, we were able to do a wide range of activities from Disney to the Santa Barbara Zoo. That being said, do not miss the local neighborhood! Try the frozen yogurt and fish & chips just one street over. I recommend the beach just before low tide. On the corner is a market, fresh donuts and Starbucks, and you are just a bit away from In-and-Out. Can't imagine a more relaxing and convenient space, with very thoughtful hosts.

Ventura has something for everyone, family fun such as; Marina Park, famous for ‘the ship’ with the flying fox, Ventura to Ojai paved bike path, miniature golf at Golf N’ Stuff and Historic Ventura Pier. For the adventurous and the active there are surf breaks, sport fishing, kite surfing and several hiking trails. From nearby Harbor Village there are boat tours that can take you scuba diving, whale watching, snorkeling and exploring the nearby islands, beaches and wildlife. You can also rent bikes, surfboards, paddleboats and kayaks. Organize a wine tour on the Ventura County Wine trail which stretches from Malibu to Ojai. You must experience the relaxed chilled vibe of Main Street, a short 5-minute drive or take a 15- minute leisurely bike ride into downtown, where you can shop in boutique stores and find treasures in the funky thrift shops. There’s also fine dining, casual dining, coffee shops, wine tasting, museums, galleries, Historic Town Hall and a local movie theater. Main Street also offers an exciting nightlife experience, where you can enjoy live concerts, live theater (Check show times @ Rubicon Theater Company) and several bars and restaurants to choose from.

We also recommend a visit to Santa Barbara; a scenic 30-minute drive up the Pacific Coast Highway to see the beautiful beaches, mountains, pier and restaurants in the area, the Santa Barbara Zoo is also a fun and affordable day for the family. Another must see destination is Solvang, a quaint Danish village in the hills, windmills, clogs and all. Solvang offers shopping, Danish eateries and lots of great wine tasting.
