We brought the house at the end of 2012. After spending vacations in Ventura we fell in love with the area. The beach lifestyle, surfing, kite boarding and diving are what make Ventura an amazing place to live and visit!

The relaxing and friendly vibe of the Pierpont neighborhood is what sets it apart from all others.

My favorite things about this VRBO were the location, the yard, and the obvious care and attention to detail provided by the owners. This was the best appointed VRBO I have ever stayed in. No detail has been missed: kitchen tools, linens, well written instructions; the owners have invested in their guests having a wonderful experience. The space is so beautiful. The deck, hot tub, outdoor dining and shower, fire place, chalk wall, lanai, and in home decor were all designed to bring the beach into the living space. My third point is location. Being so close to a primary freeway, we were able to do a wide range of activities from Disney to the Santa Barbara Zoo. That being said, do not miss the local neighborhood! Try the frozen yogurt and fish & chips just one street over. I recommend the beach just before low tide. On the corner is a market, fresh donuts and Starbucks, and you are just a bit away from In-and-Out. Can't imagine a more relaxing and convenient space, with very thoughtful hosts.

This property most definately ticked all our boxes and we are frequent VRBO users! My husband and I and our pooch were travelling throughout California for a month and this property and it's location was perfect. The beach, just a 5 minute walk away is extremely doggie friendly and as you head down there you'll be on a lovely neighborhood street with chatty locals and visitors, we made many new friends. You'll also go by several eating establishments that are great for meals or happy hour. In other directions and all within walking distance is a great park and Von's grocery store. This wonderful cozy home and property had everything we needed and we cooked most of our meals in (perhaps a couple of cookie sheets could be added), keep in mind because we travel a lot we also carry our own spices, it's good to take some of your faves along. The very private and serene backyard with large Hot Tub and gas fireplace was perfect to enjoy after a day of excursions, hiking or shopping. Just sit back and enjoy a lovely glass of California wine. We originally thought the property might have some noise as the home is on a frequented street, but do not worry, we didn't here a thing at night and the neighborhood is very quiet. Getting Downtown from the Lazy Bay is super easy, not even a 10 min drive. Just book it....you won't be disappointed.

GREAT spot

Location, backyard, private outside and inside. Clean and well planned space.walked to many places, including down town. The beds are significantly soft...was addressed in previous reviews...I suggest upgrading to firm mattresses. Add a supply of basic spices at minimum, and olive oil/Pam would have allowed us to cook in more easily. The wine, coffee, creamers sweeteners and snacks were a pleasant surprise and much enjoyed. Laundry capability was great..bring bar soap and laundry soap. Beach towels were terrific and enjoyed with the fabulous hot tub.. lack of a dishwasher noticed, but we managed.
Over all...we would be happy to return if beds could be firmer.
Thank you Sarah and Andy for all the special touches.

Perfect for a Family Getaway

We stayed at the Lazy Bay for a weekend getaway and the house was perfect. We have two young children, 4 yo and 1 yo, and were driving from San Francisco. We usually pack the car full with stuff for the kids but this time we didn't need to bring anything for our kids as the house was super kid-friendly from the high chair, to the pack and play and the outdoor chalk board. The outdoor space was amazing - the hot tub, firepit (perfect for roasting marshmallows) and comfy furniture for reading in the sun.

Location was perfect as we were able to go for long walks and bike rides, walk to the beach and close to some great restaurants like Seawards Fish and Chips, Sushi House and Social Club (which we ate at 3x).

Highly recommend for a fantastic and relaxing family getaway.

The Lazy Bay is such a wonderful place to stay and communication with the owners Sarah & Andy was second to none. Any questions asked were answered immediately!
There were so many lovely personal touches on arrival which is what we needed after a long haul flight. Tea, coffee, snacks was just what we needed on arrival.
We didnt spend an awful lot of time at the house as we were only over for a week so tried to get out and about each day and hired a car from the local enterprise, I did use the hot tub once and it was lovely and very easy to operate.
The bedrooms were large and more than adequate.
My mother stayed in the twin room and even though she is fairly tall she had no problems on these single beds.
The mattresses are lovely memory foam and didn't take me long to get over jet lag!
There is a Vons supermarket very close by (2 minute walk) and at the Lazy Bay was also a discount card supplied which came in very handy.
The beach was also only a short walk away, you can walk to the pier and also the harbour (both in opposite directions) in about 40 minutes and there is a handy shuttle bus (downtown harbour trolley) which operates a free service to and from the harbour which came in very handy on hot days.
The house is about 1hr 30 mins from LAX and we used the Ventura County Airporter shuttle bus which had a pick up/drop off point nearby and worked out far cheaper than any taxi.
Our visit to CA was to see my sister for her wedding which was in Ventura, when she saw our apartment she was very impressed and told us that other wedding parties apartments were nothing like ours.
We were all very sad to have to leave and I can honestly say that the Lazy Bay helped make our trip an excellent one.

Ventura has something for everyone, family fun such as; Marina Park, famous for ‘the ship’ with the flying fox, Ventura to Ojai paved bike path, miniature golf at Golf N’ Stuff and Historic Ventura Pier. For the adventurous and the active there are surf breaks, sport fishing, kite surfing and several hiking trails. From nearby Harbor Village there are boat tours that can take you scuba diving, whale watching, snorkeling and exploring the nearby islands, beaches and wildlife. You can also rent bikes, surfboards, paddleboats and kayaks. Organize a wine tour on the Ventura County Wine trail which stretches from Malibu to Ojai. You must experience the relaxed chilled vibe of Main Street, a short 5-minute drive or take a 15- minute leisurely bike ride into downtown, where you can shop in boutique stores and find treasures in the funky thrift shops. There’s also fine dining, casual dining, coffee shops, wine tasting, museums, galleries, Historic Town Hall and a local movie theater. Main Street also offers an exciting nightlife experience, where you can enjoy live concerts, live theater (Check show times @ Rubicon Theater Company) and several bars and restaurants to choose from.

We also recommend a visit to Santa Barbara; a scenic 30-minute drive up the Pacific Coast Highway to see the beautiful beaches, mountains, pier and restaurants in the area, the Santa Barbara Zoo is also a fun and affordable day for the family. Another must see destination is Solvang, a quaint Danish village in the hills, windmills, clogs and all. Solvang offers shopping, Danish eateries and lots of great wine tasting.
