This cozy, yet spacious, cabin was built in 2012 and is located on 192 acres of outdoor lovers paradise. Elk Creek is a Class I Trout Stream and is located just 200 feet from the front door. Mowed trails along the creek make for great access while you are fishing or just enjoying a nature walk. Additionally, Elk Creek meets the Kickapoo River on the property making it the perfect location to catch the trout of a lifetime! Several animals including Whitetail Deer, Turkeys, Pheasants, Bald Eagles and Wood Ducks are often viewed from the front porch and back deck. The cabin features a full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room with electric fireplace, as well as a large loft with sleeping room and sitting area. All of these great features make the Lodge at Elk Creek your Perfect getaway!
Aaron and Angie both grew up in the area and live within 20 minutes of the property. Building the cabin close to home allows them to create family memories and share their outdoor experiences with others. Family is the true root of the Lodge at Elk Creek and by using the cabin as a rental has allowed Angie to go part-time at her job and spend more time with their daughter.
Aaron and Angie purchased this cabin in 2011
We purchased this property in 2011 because it had so many great things to offer; such as hunting, fishing, farming and being able to enjoy all those different aspects in one location.
A setting like no other! Enjoying the coziness of our cabin while being able to witness nature at its best is priceless! Watching the deer and turkeys eating in the field while sitting on our back deck, seeing the eagles soar right over the cabin, and listening to the bubbling of Elk Creek while having picnics by the water makes this a true escape from reality and a home away from home.
I won't repeat everyone else's descriptions of this amazing vacation spot (they are all spot on), but I will add that Aaron and Angie have created a truly ideal little spot for a family weekend away. The only small change I would make is that there is no storage space at all - no dresser for clothing, no shelf space for groceries unless I removed dishes, etc. My sons' clothing was transported in my suitcase, and then I had to just put it on the floor for the weekend. I would have loved to have maybe a couple of small baskets in each bedroom and the living room and some sort of shelving in the kitchen so we could put our groceries somewhere other than the counter. But this is a small detail about an wonderful property - thank you for sharing your home with us!
I recently stayed here with a group of my friends for the Trout opener. The lodge is really nice, it is setup great for 4 guys. The land it's on is amazing, and you have truly great trout fishing a few steps from the front door. There are a ton of areas around to hit too, within 15 minutes of the cabin.
The owners were great, and made the experience even better. Highly recommended.
Excellent stay. Top notch high end accommodation for the area.
This Lodge did not disappoint us. Everything was as good or better than advertised. The Mithum's welcomed us at the Lodge and showed us around the property. We enjoyed a day of canoeing on the Kickapoo River and spent evenings cooking out and watching the deer. Anyone looking for a great getaway can not go wrong spending it at the Lodge
What a great place to stay. Nice and homey, VERY CLEAN, comfy beds. The stream and river access from the property were great for fishing. Aaron and Angie were kind enough to provide info for some activities, nearby canoeing at Rockton was really fun and horseback riding at Redrock Trail Rides about an hour away was a great place. The cabin and property are beautiful. We had a great time and hope we can return next summer.
This home has everything you would ever need in a rental. First and foremost it's immaculate, the linens are soft, the bathroom is 5 star, the beds are comfortable, They even provided cold water bottles waiting for us upon arrival and they had firewood, The property has a stream and river running through it, if you like to fish, along with plenty of trails to hike. Plus, to top it off they have cable TV!! Definitely a must to visit and stay. Thank you for opening up your home. We truly had a wonderful time.
The Lodge at Elk Creek is nestled in the heart of the Kickapoo Valley, which offers numerous year-round activities for people of all ages. Additionally, the Kickapoo Valley Reserve and Wildcat Mountain State Park are nearby and offer numerous activities for outdoor enthusiasts.
