Woods, sunsets over water, hiking and bike trails, lovely art and decor, seemingly removed from everything but only 20 mins from Portland. Perfect for 2 couples or single family with several children. It has it all.

A great escape for all ages

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I had the opportunity to get away from Boston for a week over Labor Day. We love the water and Maine, but also have a 10 month old puppy. And had family visiting from Oregon for part of the week. The pressure was on to find a relaxing space for us and the dog, but a good "base" for my mom and her partner to use for touring. Additionally, we wanted to spend time with our friends and their children from New Hampshire. As soon as we saw this house, I knew it would be perfect. It truly was. As soon as we arrived Tamson greeted us and made us feel instantly at home. The space is comfortable and the amenities make one feel as though they have always lived there. The dog took to the grounds and Tara (Tamson's dog) well. As soon as our friend's and there children arrived (ages 8 & 5) they enjoyed the grounds, too. With the youngest stating what everyone felt, "We should live here." The weekend passed with a lot of swimming and an evening spent just watching the thunder and lightening. My family felt the same way. We were able to have a few evenings in Portland and a chance for a make-up turkey dinner. Everyone had a truly fantastic visit. We were sad to leave.
So sad that my husband forgot his computers and work bag.; We missed several efforts made by Tamson to connect with us before we left the state (still in vacation mode, I think.) So Tamson overnighted the bag to us as soon as we gave her an address.
I look forward to many other visits. It was a space that provided exactly what we all needed.

Cousins Island Retreat is Amazing!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed here with a our family of five plus doggie and loved it. The house is walking distance to madeline point beach and the ferry to chebague, as well as very close to the cousins island bridge beach. Tamson is an amazing host who provides virtually anything you might need or want to know about this area of Maine. Short drive to Portland for culture or Sea Dogs Game and beautiful sunsets over Casco Bay. Hope to come back soon!

Family Days

  • 5 of 5
Our family likes to gather for a week each summer to get to know one another again. Let the cousins begin to know each other better as well. This year we decided to go to Maine.
My wife had heard of Tamson Hamrock's artist cottage on Casco Bay in Yarmouth. It seemed like the ideal spot. Not too far into Maine for those of us from New York and just the right distance for those from the Boston area. We were not disappointed!
What a location! Perched on a rise with magnificent views of the bay. The house has large windows which make you feel like the outside is inside. A path leads down to a large floating dock. Just the spot for a refreshing morning swim or cocktails after a day of exploration.
The house is full of charm and warmth. There are a number of rooms for sitting and reading or gazing out at the views. The kitchen is a large gathering spot for family breakfasts. The dining room is perfect for everyone to gather and compare notes on the day’s activities. A grill on a patio overlooking the bay is the spot for barbeque or lobster bakes. The entire house asks you to come in and be at home. Tamson could not be a better host and guide to her native town.
There are many activities to list. Hiking, biking, boating, exploring downtown Yarmouth, are just a few of the things our family did together or in small groups.
After one week we had all renewed our relationships and built new memories to enjoy over the next year. We have already booked for next year. This place is a real find.

Enjoy Beautiful Sunsets from this lovely home

  • 5 of 5
This house exceeded our expectation in many ways. From its tranquil setting on a pine tree dirt road, to its lovely lawn leading to sunset views on Casco Bay. Furnished with excellent taste and very convenient amenities and very clean! Views of the water from almost every room. We enjoyed swimming in the bay from the dock. Great for families who want to explore the Casco Bay area. Very conveniently located to Portland, Freeoort, Brunswick, etc. near tons of great dining in Yarmouth and neighboring towns.. Would definitely recommend this lovely home.

A Perfect Retreat for Artists

  • 5 of 5
Eight artists from various states gathered at the Art Cottage for a watercolor workshop on the first weekend of May. It was an ideal setting. As well as views of the water and coastline, we discovered many intriguing compositions around the property, of lovely groupings of birch trees, stone walls, and the tiny red artists studio. We also loved the views from inside the cottage looking out windows from each room.

The house was equipped with everything one could want; it is furnished and decorated with colorful and interesting artifacts as well as a large collection of original art. There are so many creative touches that make it a warm and delightful environment with lots of private space as well as rooms large enough to have a group gathering. The owner provided us with everything that was needed to make the workshop a comfortable and exhilarating experience for the artists.
We loved the beds and the views from the bedrooms on the third floor! The library is a perfect spot to sit with early morning coffee, read or write and watch the light change over the water as the sun comes up.
The excellent paintings that were created during those three days is a true measure of the beauty of this piece of "Maine Magic".
This is the best of all worlds for couples, a group or a family who want to enjoy all of the amenities and comfort in a secluded and peaceful setting which is also within easy reach of a great small city like Portland, other scenic areas of the Maine coast, and nearby beaches and restaurants.
