Chris Lambert purchased this house in 2007
There are many beautiful places to stay in the Finger Lakes. Cayuga Sunrise is located near the Village of Seneca Falls, Cayuga State Park, just a walk away from 2 great restaurants. The inground pool is such a nice place to hang out at and soak in the sun.
We stayed at this home for a long weekend this fall. Not only was the home a special retreat we had a very nice experience with the property manager. She was very responsive, friendly.
The home was so comfortable and relaxing. Great area too. We will be back.
This was our family home up till 1982 when mom and dad sold it. We brought 4 generations back to the home for a week this summer...we did rent a second home north of the park for the third and fourth generations. My parents put in the pool, but the addition of the patio and fire pit was great. We had a fire most ever night and made smores. Our kids learned to dive and swim in the pool, and fish in the lake. Our only concern, it seems items may not get repaired, but in many cases closed down...hot tub gone, dock not in, expensive boat lift needs repair. However, all-in-all the home is in good shape, but may not remain without a little more owner TLC. Realize it is forsale (kids suggested we buy it) and this adds to the lack of re-investment. We hope the owners will keep it up and we get a chance to return in 2016...2015 we have a summer wedding in San Antonio. It is the premier rental in the Finger Lakes.
I'm the "nice gentleman" next door, or the supposed "noise hating" neighbor. Actually I only complained to the property manager Chris once 2 years ago. Her guests (22 Adults) partied till 4 AM for 2 nights, turning the Lake House into an Animal House.
A few days before our trip I checked this page and was horrified to read the only review at the time warning of the supposed noise hating neighbor, however as a small group with no plans to party we hoped there wouldn't be an issue. We were therefore very pleasantly surprised (and just a bit relieved!) when we read about the nice gentleman next door who appreciated a bit of peace and quiet, which is hardly an unreasonable request.
The house itself is very spacious, with comfy beds and several areas to relax and enjoy the beautiful views over the lake, especially the lovely large and airy porch. We also enjoyed watching the sunset from the gazebo.
Communication from the Property Manager was excellent and our security deposit arrived home almost faster than we did.
We stayed in the house for a week in June this last summer. It was our first time in the area. I am going to rent it again in 2014 but a little later in the season. I read the above review and have to say that was not our experience. We had a great time. The home is very spacious, clean, the owner/manager answered all of our questions. All the bedrooms were very comfortable. The home has wonderful qualities and enough rooms to get away from the "group". The front porch was wonderful to sit on in the morning and the gazebo was a nice retreat at night. We were able to enjoy the Village of Seneca Falls and went to a few of the restaurants and wineries. We mostly cooked out but found it was nice to walk down the street to the restaurant Wolfys.
We did not use the hot tub, (not our thing). But the pool was great! The pool service came mid week and vacuumed and filled the pool. I put the hose in it but did not feel put off by having to do so.
We had a great time relaxing on the patio with a camp fire. The contract that we signed advised us we could not have any parties. So our intention was to relax, not let loose. The gazebo for us provided a nice place to watch the lake at night. We were not bothered by the natural surroundings. It sort of just blended with the rest of the lake.
I contacted the manager and advised that our group will not be as big and am now getting a discount. I look forward to relaxing in the Finger Lakes again!
I am originally from the finger lakes area and was excited to take my family for a nice summer vacation. The area is absolutely beautiful and the Lake House is close enough to things to make it desirable. We had some problems with the house itself. When we arrived we found a note on the counter telling us that the hot tub was not working and that it would not be repaired that week, which was a disappointment, but as yearly vacationers, we understand that these things happen. I was a bit surprised that the owner.manager did not contact me personally as she had been very communicative and had all my contact information.
The second issue was that the pool was kind of dirty. There was alot of debris at the bottom of the pool which was clearly past the point of daily skimming. My husband cleaned it as well as he could and two days later, the pool guy showed up and told us the pool was leaking from an underground pipe and if we didn't keep it properly filled, it wouldn't clean automatically. We didn't realize this as we are not pool owners, so daily we had to leave the hose in the pool as each night it would drop over an inch of water. This of course made the pool cold for most of the morning.
Thirdly, once we got there, we read the house rules and found out that there was a neighbor who didn't like noise. Again, this should have been communicated when I was inquiring about renting the place. We had 2 kids and 2 dogs with us - not that we are overly loud people, but I didn't like that I had to think about the neighbor guy during my vacation.
Lastly - the picture of the Gazebo is misleading. It must have been taken right after clean up as when we were there, there was quite an overgrowth of weeds and nettles at the waters edge which made it impossible to even throw a pole in the water.
The rental is not cheap. There are many other rentals with a much smaller price tag but we chose the house because of the pool and the hot tub - both of which were not up to standard.
It's been almost two weeks since we left and I have not received my security deposit back. In my mind, with the broken hot tub and the leaking pool - it seems like they would have wanted to send me back my deposit and communicate SOMETHING.
As I said previously - the area is BEAUTIFUL and we will be returning, but we would not rent this house again.
