I'm a writer. While staying in my home, you will get a taste of the warm artistic atmosphere I have surrounded myself with, and you will quickly find yourself at home. Simply imagine yourself sitting on the terrace, enjoying a glass of wine while swans and ducks pass by.
Sometimes, with hard winds or when boats go too fast, you will feel the boat move!
With a modern comfort, this houseboat measures 53m2 complete with an adjoining terrace of 15m2.
As you walk thorough the entrance hall with a half bath, you will find the spacious living room with an exit to the terrace, the fully equipped kitchen, a working/sleeping area. The boat has wireless internet access.
Each part offers beautiful views on the water through their large windows. You will find it to be complete with a comfortable bathroom with shower and a washing machine.
This houseboat is the perfect getaway FOR TWO people looking for something new and different.

I'm a writer. In 2011 I published my first novel. Theatre plays have been played and a singer/songwriter sings a few of my songs.
Apart from that I'm also working as a researcher in Television. I love this work. Especially when it gives me the opportunity to travel.
Caroline Ligthart purchased this house boat in 1995
I always had this dream of living on a boat. At the age of 30 I was able to buy this beautiful boat. So I live my dream!
For years I've been busy to rebuilt it (the state it was in was very bad), and now it's all finished.
I'd like to share my boat with other people because it's such a special place and otherwise a tourist would never get the opportunity to experience what it's like to be so fortune and live in tho special way.
You can sit on the terrace and just watch the ducks and my special friends the swans go by. Every morning there is a swans who swims up to my window when I am behind my desk to write. I always have the feeling he comes to great me and wish me a nice day.
The view of the boat is very special. Trough every window you can see the water, and that is very relaxing and I find also inspiring.
The owner greeted us at the boat, showed us how everything worked, and was gracious about giving us pointers of some of the local sights and establishments. The houseboat is artfully decorated, comfortable, and ideally located in the center...yet has a very private feel. And if that wasn't enough, there are a couple swans that visit you daily. The terrace is ideal for a morning espresso. We'll stay here on our next visit!
This is a unique and eclectic property, full of personality and beautifully decorated. All the amenities are here for a comfortable experience, including an outside terrace, where visitors can sit and enjoy the canal and the boats passing by.
We stayed four nights and were able to walk easily to many locations within the city. The property is extremely well situated for enjoying the many layers of culture in this historic city.
Caroline is a very accommodating host whose personal touch is felt in the property, making it feel much like home..on the canal. We were very impressed with all this property had to offer, including the wide windows that frame the canal, the convenience of cooking in the lovely kitchen and the proximity to all that Amsterdam has to offer. We highly recommend this property.
We will never stay in a hotel again after experiencing staying on this beautiful houseboat. All of our friends were extremely jealous! It was really easy to find and a great base to explore the city. Sitting out watching all the boats passing by waving at everyone was amusing. A weekend was not long enough we did not want to leave! You will not be disappointed if you book this, Caroline the owner was there to meet us and was very helpful. Great that there was WiFi as well. 5 stars from us we highly recommend staying here.
Caroline's houseboat is wonderful. The photos and descriptions are accurate but the reality is even better! It is full of character & very comfortable and homely. It is very clean, well equipped and well maintained. We loved the Nespresso machine (coffee pods provided) so much we bought one when we returned home. It is in an ideal place - very close to the station but a world away from busy traffic and congestion. The canal is very picturesque and the views from the houseboat give a real sense of where you are - so much better than an anonymous hotel room! Sitting out on the decking watching passing boats and the neighbouring family of coots was a recurring pleasure during our stay. The supermarket is not far away and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. We would recommend Hemelse Modder, just a few yards further up the street - the food was excellent, the service friendly and in good weather there is an attractive leafy back lane behind the restaurant for al fresco dining. All the major Amsterdam attractions are within walking distance of the houseboat and of course walking anywhere in central Amsterdam is a pleasure in itself. We have already recommended this property to friends and if we ever return to Amsterdam we hope that Caroline's beautiful houseboat is still available for rent. It would definitely be our first choice.
We spent 4 days on Caroline's houseboat and we had an awesome stay. The house is as pictured and is brimming with personality. All the amenities like a comfortable bed, strong shower and well equipped kitchen were part of the package. It was hard to believe we were in the center of all the hub-bub of Amsterdam-the canal and surrounding neighborhood were quiet and picturesque. Caroline was a pleasure to deal with-she was informative, flexible and unobtrusive. Nothing makes you feel more like a local than sitting on your deck and have the tourists take your pictures!!
The hot spot of Amsterdam, including the popular Waterloople in flea market, the Opera House, the Red Light District , China Town and the Dam Square are all within short walking distances.
During spring/summer/autumn there is a antique curiosa market on the Nieuwmarkt, a beautiful old square with the old Waag, surrounded by cafes and restaurants.
A perfect way to see the area is to rent a bike. Within 15 minutes you can enter the Van Gogh Museum, or the Stedelijk Museum (modern art) or the famous Rijksmuseum. Very special is also the Hermitage, situated on the Amstel river, only 5 minutes by bike.
But you can also just walk through the little allies, on the canals and admire the wonderful architecture of the old city.
The oldest house of the city is a 4 minutes walk away, and a wonderful cafe is situated in it! A must-seen!
