Welcome to “The Bird's Nest,” Big Bear Lake’s finest luxury accommodation. When it comes to luxury resort living, our cottage is in a league all its own! Located in the neighborhood known as Lower Moonridge, the cottage is conveniently situated between both ski resorts, making it less than a mile to either Bear Mountain or Snow Summit. But Big Bear Lake is a four-season resort to be enjoyed year-round. The lake, golf course, zoo, shopping and dining are just minutes away.

We purchased this 1940’s cottage in March of 2012 and have just completed its total renovation in January 2013. Rent the cottage and be one of the first tenants to experience our charming and luxurious abode. No expense was spared in the renovation of our mountain retreat and every item in the cottage was selected or manufactured specifically for the home! The Rustic-Luxe decor features Restoration Hardware and Pottery Barn furnishings and accessories. Much of the furniture was designed and created especially for this cottage by our own hand-forged wrought iron company known as

'The Hill Ironworks.' The master bedroom features a magnificent and romantic queen size, Four-Poster-Bed dressed in 600 thread-count sheets and duvet cover. Goose-down comforters and numerous down pillows are provided for your ultimate sleeping comfort. The gourmet galley kitchen houses everything one could need including a dishwasher, gas range, under-counter refrigerator, microwave, blender, and toaster plus a Cuisinart K-Cup coffee maker with complimentary gourmet coffee, tea, cider and hot cocoa. High-end electronics including two LCD-HD flat screen TV’s, a Blu-ray Disk Player, IHome docking station with music speakers, high speed wireless internet and cable TV with movie channels will keep you entertained. Our guests will find themselves lounging in the comfortable living room under a cozy faux-fur throw, enjoying the gas-burning fireplace with a complimentary glass of wine in hand. And, the well-appointed bathroom featuring a rain shower head with eight body-jets will sooth ski-weary muscles.

An additional room includes a Day Bed/Couch to be enjoyed by day, which then converts into a Twin Bed by night, accommodating 1 additional guest. The cottage is ideally suited for one couple or for a couple with a small child. Given it’s limited size we like to think of our cottage as similar to a Suite at the Four Season’s Hotel.

Every detail has been meticulously attended to and no amenity has been overlooked in order to make your stay as memorable and comfortable as possible. Please take the one you love to this romantic retreat.

NOTE: We require that you be at least 25 years of age to rent the cottage.

About Celia Becker

My family and I have been part-time mountain residents for over 25 years. Eight years ago we escaped Orange County California for life at a higher elevation and now reside full-time in nearby Lake Arrowhead. We discovered the charms of Big Bear when our son joined the Snow Summit Ski Racing Team. This adorable cottage caught our eye and we decided to buy it as a showcase for my work. I am a Lifestyle Blogger (www.AfterOrangeCounty.com) and designer and manufacturer of hand-forged wrought iron furniture, lighting and decorative accessories. This home showcases much of my work. If you like what you see, most of the ironwork used in the cottage is available for purchase.

As a native Southern Californian I grew up vacationing in our local mountains and wanted to give the same opportunity to our children. We feel the weight of the world roll off our shoulder's as we approach our charming, cozy get-away. The smell of the pines, the beauty of the lake and surrounding mountains, the invigorating crystal clear air and the proximity to the ski slopes are what we enjoy most.

It is small and intimate yet comfortable and inviting. Our cottage exudes a warm & serene atmosphere in its intimate spaces. We furnished it using rich earth-tones, soft linens and jute area rugs over rustic wood floors. Layers of details both old and new, modern and traditional make our home the ultimate romantic couples retreat.

Truly the Best in Moonridge!

The owners spared no expense in making this Luxury Retreat a fabulous getaway for a couple, or family with young children. We were able to comfortably stay for three days and we were 3-4 adults with our fourth adult who joined us on Saturday. Excellent location just minutes to ski slopes, dining and “Big Bear City.” All the comforts and much more at this "gem" of a cottage.
It was immaculate, linens, bedding and beautiful interior decor. The owners are the best and were very gracious and helpful and the “rental” process was streamlined. No need to take a thing except for your toothbrush and enjoy the best of the best at Big Bear’s Finest Luxury Retreat. We have stayed at many different properties in Lake Arrowhead and Big Bear, this by far is the most immaculate and meticulously decorated with charm and elegance. It is small, but very, very cozy.
Thank you for a beautiful weekend getaway. We will be back soon.

Wonderful mountain escape

We were very pleased to stay in this newly renovated cottage. It had all the comforts and amenities we could ask for. It was as though a dear friend had tried to think of everything we could want or need to make us feel at home and taken care of.

We cooked, we played games, we read by the fire. We are already missing it, and hope to return soon!
