Location, location, location!
My charming 3 bedroom 2 full bath, Uptown house is the perfect spot to enjoy the magical city of New Orleans!! Live like a local! Walk or take the streetcar to all the major attractions.
Located in a quiet neighborhood, but still within walking distance of dozens of new restaurants, bars and music clubs. Check out the newly revitalized Freret Street! thenewfreret.com
Just 6 blocks from the St. Charles Ave. streetcar and the lovely antebellum homes that New Orleans is famous for. Jump on the streetcar & head downtown to the Superdome or the French Quarter!
Walk or bike to the Mardi Gras parades (10 blocks) - the apt is very close to the Uptown parade routes...Muses, Orpheus, Bacchus and many others! This area is a nice, 'family friendly' part of the parade route ;-)
The apt is the entire ground floor of a two story double. There is a fenced backyard with a private POOL, a very large deck and a BBQ. There is also a charming porch on the front of the house where you can watch the world go by.
Set up as a family home, there are two queen beds, and the third bedroom has two full beds. There is also a queen sized sleeper sofa in the living room.
Altogether, the apt will accommodate 8 people.
There is a Roku system and cable TV in the living room to stream movies. WiFi is also included.
The single driveway will accommodate 3 cars, stacked, or you can also find street parking out front.
Fully equipped stainless steel kitchen with everything you need.... gas stove, oven, microwave, and refrigerator with ice & water dispensers in the door. Laundry room front loading LG washer & dryer too!
Skip the car and walk to the famous St. Charles Avenue street Car with easy access to downtown. Less than 5 min by car from the shopping & restaurants on Magazine Street, Golf at Audubon Park, The Audubon Zoo, The Prytania Movie Theatre, and Whole Foods Grocery Store. Venture a little further & you can check out the Aquarium, or just sit & watch the mighty Mississippi River roll on by.
Casual meals are 200 feet away at Dat Dog (datdognola.com) or sushi at Origami. Grab a hand crafted cocktail at CURE (curenola.com) or listen to some live music down the street at GasaGasa & Publiq House.

Aloha!! I am a former resident of Hawaii who fell in love with the magical city of New Orleans 10 years ago! I have renovated 4 houses in New Orleans and I started working on this property in 2011. I searched for a house in this neighborhood for 3 years. I finally found my diamond in the rough. I love my neighborhood because of the exciting new restaurants, bars, clubs and coffee shops that have been opening on Freret street in the past 5 years. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
Kimberlee Lauer purchased this apartment in 2011
We had my granddaughters 13th birthday at the house. Kimberlee couldn't have been more hospitable and helpful. My granddaughter said it was " The best birthday she ever had". We really enjoyed the house, and the neighborhood. I highly recommend this property.
My wife and I come to New Orleans quite often during the months of February to May. Our son plays baseball for Tulane University and we've stayed in the French Quarter in the past but don't like the traffic or the drive. This time we've decided to stay in town and rent a home instead of a hotel. We now prefer to do this because the location is great for us. Kimberlee was very nice and accommodating. The house was comfortable and quaint. Very historic to New Orleans. Right off Ferret street made it convenient to walk to dinner some nights. Would stay again.
Awesome place! We are regular visitors to NOLA an this is absolutely one of the best places we have stayed. Location was great, accommodations were wonderful, very homey. Kimberlee was a wonderful hostess and the Abita upon our arrival was an unexpected treat. This gem of a house will probably be hard to rent when we come back in May, but we will sure try!
We were in New Orleans this past weekend for the first time. I had no idea where the house was in relation to the city and everything we wanted to do, but booked it solely based on the wonderful reviews. Turns out it was in the perfect location (a cute upcoming neighborhood called freret) that was walkable to several local bars and restaurants and only a 15 minute drive to the French Quarter and everything else we wanted to do! Kimberlee was a friendly, welcoming hostess and was available to answer questions and give advice throughout our trip. The house was comfortable and clean- we had 8 people and there was plenty of room. Can't say enough great things- we hope to come back again soon (the pool was under construction when we were there, but the backyard looks like it's gonna be awesome!)
Thanks Kimberlee for giving us a great first taste of the big easy. :)
5 of us girlfriends rented this beautiful home for a wonderful weekend in New Orleans. The house was very clean and spacious and the beds were very comfortable. Our location was great, we walked to St. Charles and you can catch the trolley from there. Kimberlee is an awesome hostess. She responded to us immediately if we had any questions about sight seeing or with the house. I would love to stay here again!
Where to start? So many things to compliment!
The house was absolute perfection. The pictures (which are very accurate) don't do it justice. We've rented other properties in other cities, and have never been treated to the quality and style found here. Tasteful artwork throughout the home, which beautifully compliments the antiques (yes, antiques!) that can be found in this home. Comfy beds, tons of hot water, and modern kitchen only sweeten the deal.
Our hostess, Kimberlee was a gem! Her "welcome package" of beer and snacks was a lovely touch. She routinely checked on us to make sure everything was all right. I feel like we've made a new friend.
And the location...... We had no idea what the neighborhood was like when we booked the property. What a find! We were steps away from the new "restaurant row" on Freret Street. Let's just say were were NOT disappointed with what was available.
We spent many moments relaxing on the front porch, chatting with people strolling by. It wasn't long until we felt like "locals". So much better than staying in a hotel. If you are determined to hit the French Quarter, you're only a stroll away from the St. Charles streetcar line, or a short cab ride - take your pick.
Thanks again, Kimberlee, we can't wait to visit again - and give Molly a scratch for us :-)
My charming Uptown/University apartment is located in a great part of the city, easily accessible to the Zoo, Audubon Park, and the Tulane and Loyola campuses, and within a 10 min drive (or 30min Streetcar ride) to the French Quarter, Marigny and Downtown.
Walk to dozens of new restaurants and shops on Freret Street...thenewfreret.com
The apt features 3 independent bedrooms, as well as a full sized sofa bed in the living room. There are two master bedrooms which are furnished with ultra soft, pillow top queen beds and the third bedroom is furnished with two full sized beds. There is off street parking for three cars in the driveway. There are two bathrooms and one large kitchen. There is, however, no dining room, so you will likely be eating family style in the living room, or on the lovely front porch --just like you probably do at home? :-)
Please note: The house has electric heaters and window a/c units. It does not have central air and heat. I have lived in the apt for several months and it has not been a problem for me on cold or hot days, but I wanted to mention it in case it is an issue for my guests.
The neighborhood features one of the hottest restaurant boulevards in the city. In the past year we have had 10 new restaurant openings, and you can walk to all of them all from my house which is located a half a block off Freret. Thenewfreret (dot com).
The St. Charles Ave streetcar is 6 blocks south. There is a dog park and playground across the street and the neighborhood is very walkable. Audubon park is a 1.5mile walk and the Tulane and Loyola campuses are about the same distance.
