Conveniently located close to some of the best area attractions, Garden City Beach is directly south of Surfside Beach and ends on a peninsula at the mouth of Murrells Inlet. One of the most renowned attractions in Garden City Beach is the Pier at Garden City. Other attractions include Marlin Quay Marina, Gulf Stream Cafe, Original Sam's Corner, and Sara J's Seafood Restaurant

Just south of Garden City Beach is Murrells Inlet, a seaside community that is considered to be the "Seafood Capital of South Carolina", but is also home to some of the nation's best golf courses. Once primarily a fishing village, the town is best known for the Murrells Inlet Marshwalk, a half-mile long boardwalk overlooking a pristine saltmarsh, and the many award-winning seafood and barbecue restaurants along Highway 17 Business in the central business district.

Brookgreen Gardens, a sculpture garden and wildlife preserve built on four former rice plantations, is located slightly south of Murrells Inlet. It features several themed gardens with American figurative sculptures placed in them, trails through several nature reserve ecosystems and the Lowcountry Zoo.

If you're looking for places to shop, Inlet Square Mall, The Market Common, Coastal Grand, Myrtle Beach Mall, Broadway at the Beach, Barefoot Landing, two Tanger shopping outlets, countless strip-malls, and many more shopping facilities are all within an easy drive from Garden City Beach. Looking for some entertainment, take in a show at Alabama Theater, Medieval Times, The Carolina Opry, Pirates Voyage, and Legends in Concert. And don't forget about Ripley's Aquarium, Alligator Adventure, Hard Rock Cafe, Jimmy Buffett's Margaritaville, and The Pavilion Nostalgia Park.

Other points of interest close by include the waterfront community of Georgetown, the third oldest city in South Carolina and second largest seaport in South Carolina, and historic Conway with its downtown Riverwalk area nestled on the banks of the Waccamaw River. Both towns include fine dining, shopping, and historic sites.

Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach and Murrells Inlet are all close to Waccamaw Hospital and several urgent care facilities.

Whatever your desire, whatever your need, the south strand offers a little something on everyone's to-do list. We have a variety of restaurants, retail stores, miniature golf, entertainment venues, charter fishing, water of course, nothing but relaxation.

Thanksgiving 2014

Huge disappointment. The house was dirty. The toilets had black rings in them. The mattress pads were blood stained. There were ants on the counters. There were cockroaches in the bathroom, bedroom and kitchen. The photos show 4 nice rocking chairs on the deck. There were two and one was broken. The chairs around the table were broken. The dryer is full of rust. The windows are missing screens and the windows are screwed shut...so no ocean breezes. The windows that do open are broken. The back door had no screen.

i talked to the management company several times. They sent housekeeping to clean the toilets...the outcome was the same. Still had black rings around rim. They sent an exterminator for the insect problem. This only caused more bugs to come out of the woodwork during our stay. The management company was unapologetic. They didn't seem at all surprised by the bug invasion. They promised maintenance would fix the chairs...no one came. They didn't offer us anything, but they offered the renters on the other side of the house, new accommodations.

The location is fantastic. Can't beat being right on the ocean. If it weren't for that and the thousands I paid...we would have packed up and left. In the end i feel swindled. The photos are staged. The place is dirty. Maybe they should invest back in the property.

I dismissed / overlooked other reviews that said the same as I thought maybe they were being too picky...Apparently not.

Reviewer Comments:

Great friends at an awesome house. Been coming to bike week for 10 years now and we have used Garden City Realty for the majority of our stay and we have stayed at both Rivas A & B for the past 5 years. It is a great house and the layout is perfect for our group.

Reviewer Comments:

The location of this property was one of the best things about being here. The house is very nice and spacious and with all the details I read or viewed I really never noticed how “steep” the stairs where from ground level to front door. If there is anyone with health issues or walking disabilities this would be a difficult climb. The kitchen is big and stocked with most dishes/glasses needed to eat, but if you are cooking for a large crowd you certainly need to bring your own cookware. The bathrooms really need some deep cleaning and replacement of flooring, smell was a little overwhelming when we first arrived considering that the maids had been there the same day. The whirlpool tub needs to be cleaned, if the jets were ever turned on the person sitting in the water would not be very happy. The sofa in the master bedroom is a JOKE and needs to be tossed; even placing 2 cushions’ together doesn’t help. The bed frame on the sofa appeared broken, glad we had an air mattress.
We rented from Garden City Reality last year and stayed at Thies Cottage, we were much more impressed with this property than Riva’s A. It is a long distance from the pier and action, but a much nicer house. However as making our reservations the cost had increased nearly $1,000.00 from what we paid last year. We are a Non-Profit Group and had to fundraise the money for our trip so $1,000.00 extra dollars was a huge reason to look for other ideas. Other than being closer to the pier and cheaper for our budget there were many reasons I wished we could have worked out a deal with Thies Cottage.
Most likely wouldn’t stay at Riva’s A again.
We have rented many properties in many places and know to do our homework. Overall we were pleased, & had read of lack of pots & pans, so we took what we knew we would need to prepare our meals. So glad we did!! It was a hassle to have to pack our own, but otherwise we would have had to eat out every meal or have sandwiches all week. Also 1 stove burner does not work & oven is off by at least 50* (not hot enough)
1 toilet broke Sunday AM. I called & maint was out in 3-4 hrs.
Did not have a problem with bugs overall inside, but did see plenty of the big black bugs on/around deck at night.
There is no hose to rinse your feet when you come off the beach. You get sand all over your feet & shoes again if you rinse in the outdoor shower, so if you have a plastic dish pan, take it.
If you are a light sleeper, take earplugs. House is close to road & we could hear the music from the bar on the dock at night.
We were a group of 4 couples & 2 singles ages 22-63 and the house worked out just fine. We would probably stay there again, but the owners need to pay attention to the reviews & make some improvements to make their guests stays more enjoyable.

Reviewer Comments:

This is by far the worst home I have ever stayed in. We were completely disappointed with the accommodations. This house needs some serious maintenance and updates. The freezer is missing two of the shelves. The bathroom floors are worn and stained and the bathrooms have a terrible odor, most likely urine soaked into the old tile and wood trim. You have to hold some of the toilet handles down to flush them. The kitchen is poorly equipped. There is a shower in the parking area but no hose to rinse your feet and the sweeper doesn't work so there's sand everywhere! The dryer is rusted and caught several pieces of clothing on a jagged edge and either put a hole in them or grease on them. The area around the laundry is cluttered and dirty. The sliding glass doors are secured by 2 wooden sticks! And there are no drapes . Not a safe or very private feeling. Thank goodness the weather cooperated as it would have be difficult to be contained to the house for a week.
