The kitchen is fully stocked with all the amenities to prepare a marvelous home cooked meal. There is ample dishware and silverware, along with any cookware that you might need. Electrical appliances are provided including, but not limited to, an electric skillet, blender, crock pot, 12 cup coffee pot and a coffee grinder for the gourmet coffee types! We also try to provide a variety of seasonings. The dining room table has seating for 6 and bar seats 2 with bar stools. If it is dining out that you desire, the cabin is within minutes of multiple fast food or fine dining restaurants. The living room is wonderfully cozy with a couch and loveseat that recline and a large Grandma's chair. You can curl up with a good book in front of the propane stove or watch a movie on the flat screen television with Dish Network or the DVD player.

The loft also has a television viewing area with a flat screen television with Dish Network and a VCR/DVD player. The couch and loveseat provide ample room for the kids to watch a movie of their own. We have provided a few small toys, lots of board games for the family and you can choose from a wide variety of books.

Laundry area has a smaller washer and dryer with all of your laundry soap, bleach and fabric softeners provided.

Pets are welcome - there is an area provided in the corner of the dining area to contain your pet if needed. We ask that no pets be left unattended in the cabin.

The wrap around deck provides room for sitting and enjoying the mountain air and wildlife with a barbeque grill and fire pit. While the adults relax there is a swing set for the kids to entertain themselves (summer only).

Cell phones work very well at the cabin. Internet access and WIFI is available at all times.

Arrive at any time, for your convenience, we have Remote Lock for our guests - you will get your own personal code to access the cabin without a tedious check-in!

Moose Crossing is open year around and is conveniently located in a central location. Your vacation home base is within minutes of some of the area's best activities. Just down the road is a public boat launch for Henry's Lake, the ice fishing on Henry's Lake is amazing with some record fish being pulled from its depths. Head south on Highway 20 to visit Mesa Falls, Johnny Sack Cabin at Big Springs or Sawtelle Peak. Enjoy amazing fly fishing on Henry's Fork of the Snake River or Madison River. There is a live dinner theater at Mack’s Inn Playhouse. Enjoy float trips down the river, hiking trails, horseback riding and even a round of golf at Island Park Village Resort. Take the time to hike Harriman State Park and enjoy nature’s wonders. This is a snowmobiler’s paradise with some of the area’s best snowmobiling accessible right from the cabin's front door; there is something for every level of snowmobiler. Enjoy over 500 miles of trail riding or within minutes you can boon-docking in some of the best over the hood powder back country riding or steep climbing that you can imagine.

During the winter, we keep the driveway plowed and attempt to keep the walkways cleared, especially on the day of your arrival. The driveway has ample room for one large trailer and 2 - 3 trucks OR 2 smaller snowmobile trailers and pickups. If your party has more than that there is a large parking area less than 3/4 of a mile down the road from the cabin.

When the snow is gone and spring and summer arrives, the area is noted for its wildlife with a moose actually being caught on photos right in the backyard. You might see fox, elk or deer and there is always a beautiful bird to be seen on a walk in the wooded area right across from the cabin.

This is a NON-SMOKING cabin. We are also under a county ordinance for short term rentals and ask that our guests please stay in compliance for their safety and health; we ask that you stay within capacity limits, read the burn ordinance and please be neighborly.

As you can see from the photo that our family is avid snowmobile fans. I grew up in Montana and my husband grew up in Twin Falls, Idaho, where our son was born. We live in Twin Falls, Idaho where we farm and have a custom baling business. Our summers are very full, so we take the time to enjoy every snowflake that falls from the sky!

Shawna purchased this cabin in 2012

We had a dream! We have wanted a cabin in this area for years as we have been coming here every winter for 13 years to enjoy the snow. We started coming here when we could still ride our mountain sleds into Yellowstone National Park. It seems that whenever we had a spare few days (even in the summer) we would load in the car and run up here to enjoy Yellowstone National Park, Virginia City or just to relax with friends. Some of our fondest memories as a family are on snowmobiles in these mountains. My dad even looked at purchasing property in Island Park back when I was 8 years old. We are truly blessed to live 4 hours from Island Park and we consider this beautiful cabin our retirement home! We can't hardly wait to retire!

We fell in love with this cabin and purchased it for the great loft - the big open feeling just made us feel so at home that we had to have it! It is cozy with the log walls and propane stove. The property sits on 3 lots so there is a lot of room to play outside! All of the pine trees and aspens on the property make this cabin very secluded. It was also a great bonus that it sits directly on the trails leading to some of the greatest mountain snowmobiling in the area. Our friends and family that don't snowmobile can't wait for summer so that they might enjoy the benefits of Henrys Lake, Madison River and Yellowstone National Park! I personally love Big Springs where you can feed the fish and sometimes see a moose just standing in the river. We are avid outdoors people and with all of the big windows, even when you are in the cabin you can bring the outdoors right inside with you. I love to sit early in the morning in front of the fire, sipping coffee and looking out at the beautiful snow drifts, it just makes my day!

Unfortunate problem, but great hosts

Our experience at this cabin was somewhat interrupted by an unfortunate water problem. There was apparently a frozen pipe that leads to the cabin, which left us without water when we arrived. That was the bad .
The good part was that the owner Shawna had a plumber out within 20. Inputs to take a look at things. Unfortunately he could not do anything.
Shawna really took the initiative to find us an alternative cabin to settle us into, she waived the first night we spent without water and was overall an amazing host. We loved this Cabin. It has a great location, it's wonderfully laid out, it's furnished with great taste and attention to detail. Leading up to the vacation Shawna took the time to hook us with a great deal on snowmobile rentals , took time to prepare a map for us to use as a guide of places to visit.
We all agreed that this was a great place to come back to and we will certainly look up Shawna and use one of her cabins .
We highly recommend.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for your review! I really appreciate your kindness and patience with our winter time subdivision water problems! I assure you that this problem will be taken care of next winter as we are in the process of getting a permit to drill our own well! Rest assured that should you want to come snowmobile next winter that our cabin will be ready for your stay!! Come back and enjoy our cabin and all that Island Park has to offer in the summer too!! : )

This may be our families favorite cabin we have ever rented! It was perfect for our family of seven. Plenty of space yet cozy with log furniture, fireplace heat, great large loft filled with games, movies and sitting area. Easy access to Yellowstone and Hwy 20. We were even greeted with a personalized gift bag! We will definitely stay here next time we visit Yellowstone again.

September at Moose Crossing

My husband, myself and our 2 Yorkies recently enjoyed a wonderful 4-week stay at Moose Crossing. We really felt welcomed and comfortable. Shawna, the owner was very responsive when we needed a little help - the router needed replacing and the pilot light was out on the woodstove. Both were easily fixed. We spent most of our time in Yellowstone, sightseeing, fly-fishing, and taking photos. The second week my sister-in-law and brother-in-law visited, first time visitors to Yellowstone. We had a great time. The fourth week our son and daughter-in-law and future grandson drove over for a visit, AND our youngest son finished a 2500 mile hike on the Continental Divide Trail. He started at the Mexico-New Mexico border on April 17, 2013 and finshed at Waterton National Park in Canada on September 19,2013. So we picked him up and brought him back to Moose Crossing to fatten him up a little. Moose Crossing was exactly as described in the listing. It is a true log cabin, well maintained and insulated. I would definitely recommend Moose Crossing. It would be perfect for one or two families with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms down, and a huge comfortable loft for the kids upstairs. The drive to West Yellowstone takes about 15 minutes. The night before we left, we enjoyed a nice meal at the Bar N Ranch just north on Hwy 20, good food, great sunset.

DONT BELIEVE THE PICTURES----ITS BETTER!!!!!!!

We began our search for a place to stay during our trip to Yellowstone. When I found this home, there were no reviews. I contacted the owner, Shawna, and we had many email conversations prior to our decision to rent this home. I rented this home based on her statements and EVERYTHING the owner stated was true and accurate! The week we spent at this cabin was PERFECT. If anything, the pictures don't do this home justice. It is roomy, yet very comfortable. This cabin was clean, neat, and well stocked, the only thing you need are your groceries and toiletries. DONT buy bottled water, their tap water is AMAZING! We drove to Yellowstone almost every day which was about 20 min, so this cabin is a PERFECT home base. The beds were very comfortable, and our kids loved having their own space in the loft. With 4 people, there was no shortage of hot water for showers. I have told all my friends, co-workers and family about this amazing cabin, and HIGHLY recommend it to everyone. DONT MISS OUT on the sourdough pancakes! although off the beat-n-path, WELL WORTH IT!!! Rent this cabin and you will not be disappointed!!. The best recommendation I can give is to state I overheard our kids (16 & 20) on the plane ride home, discussing that they plan on renting the cabin when they have kids!!

We spent 4 nights at the property, and it was wonderful. Its a very nice property, and was in outstanding condition. The kids loved sleeping in the loft, and we'd definitely stay here again if we come back to the area.
