The Flying Monkey Villa is a newly completed villa nestled in the beautiful jungle as it meets the ocean, with stunning panoramic ocean/jungle views from all areas of this luxurious villa. Enjoy the private 'never-ending' new infinity pool from the lower bedroom level. Walk straight out onto a large deck and enjoy margaritas you can make at the built-in custom outdoor wet bar. Enjoy the lush tropical landscaping while sitting in the patio furniture, or floating in your private one of a kind vanishing edge swimming pool. Enjoy dinner a level up on your private wrap around deck with pass-through bar seating area, which includes a beautiful thatched palapa, to allow you to dine and visit well into the evening.
The new pool and terrace add an additional 800 square feet of outdoor living space to total over 2700 square feet of indoor/outdoor living space.
The views from every room in the villa allow you to become one with the wildlife of Costa Rica. The Costa Rican wildlife is abundant, especially in the morning when the birds are singing and the monkeys are 'flying' tree to tree across the jungle just below your pool. Toucans come by for a visit and the local iguana will be sure to greet you, while you are sitting under the palapa or relaxing around your private pool.
The lower level includes two bedrooms, each with their own private full bathroom, with his/her sinks. The laundry room and a small living area (that fits a inflatable bed) is also on the lower level. The upper level of the villa includes a spacious living room, dining area, powder room and fully equipped kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite countertops.
For dining enjoy a huge variety of cuisine at the local restaurants or create your own meals in your kitchen or barbeque on your deck.
The villa is located in a gated community with 24 hour guarded security, so you can rest at ease. You will also have cable TV and a dock station for your Ipod or Iphone in the living room.
There is air conditioning throughout the villa, or you may wish to turn off the a/c and just open all of the screened doors and windows so the breezes and the sounds of the jungle are welcomed in.
Staying at the Flying Monkey will be a vacation to beat all.
As parents and grandparents, we are excited to introduce our family - and yours - to our new Costa Rican home and know that you will enjoy your time here .... the Pura Vida lifestyle.
Ian & Phyllis purchased this villa in 2012
We've traveled throughout several tropical countries before we experienced Costa Rica. We were mesmerized by the beauty of this lush destination on our first visit in 2007 and knew that we wanted to become part of this fabulous country. We have revisited Costa Rica on several occasions until we found the perfect home. We hope you love it as much as we do.
Dominical is where the jungle meets the ocean. Having monkeys, toucans, sloths and other wildlife in our backyard is amazing. We had the pool built in December 2012, which will make your experience at this villa one of a kind.... something to remember. Or adventure to one of the local unspoiled, secluded beaches - so rare in most parts of the world.
We got here on a rainy day and an electric pole was blocking the entrance. This didn't stop us from getting in the amazing villa where we spent a dark evening with the fireflies. We came to Dominical for the 6th Whale-Dolphins Festival. We went on a boat with Rony, our tour guide, and other people and saw the incredible humpback whales with their babies, who gave us a show and left us all speechless.
The evenings in the pool were one of the many highlights of the villa. It is also perfectly equipped and has a priceless view which we enjoyed all the time. The food from the local restaurants was delicious and can't be found anywhere else.
We hope we can come back soon.
We stayed at this wonderful villa for some of the most relaxing days of our month long trip through Costa Rica. Every morning we woke up with the jungle coming to life around the villa. While sipping coffee on the upper deck we would hear (and sometimes see) Toucans and monkeys calling. We spotted for Fiery billed Aricaris, Black mandibled Toucans, Laughing Falcons and Blue grey Tanagers from our perch above the canopy. Beyond we could see Playa Dominicalito, a five minute walk from the villa, and the Pacific ocean stretching to the horizon. If you have ever longed to see the "Green Flare" at sunset, this is the perfect place to catch it!
After a day of exploring the area we would chill in the infinity pool with a G and T (or two ... or three ;) and watch the iguanas sunning on the giant tree that shades the south side of the villa. There is so much and so little to do here it was sometimes hard to decide. There's great surfing, hiking, birding, sightseeing, tours (SUP on the Rio Baru is worth it!) and "wings" on Wednesday night. Snorkeling is best at Bahia Ballenas.
The layout and location of the villa are perfect. A spacious upstairs has an open concept with lots of floor to ceiling windows and a big outside deck for entertaining or having a quiet dinner together. The downstairs has two large bedrooms that open onto the pool deck with a view of the ocean. A/c throughout keeps the afternoon heat outside where it belongs! Dominical, a ten minute drive to the north has restaurants, entertainment, surf shops, food and liquor stores. Uvita, a twenty minute drive south has well stocked grocery stores, banks/atms and probably everything else you might need or want. We would definitely come back to the Flying Monkey again and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the natural Costa Rica with a bit of home-style comforts thrown in! A vehicle, preferably 4x4, will make a longer stay that much more adventurous! Pura Vida!
Pride of ownership obvious with this amazing villa in a gated community nestled in the jungle within walking distance of an expansive and uncrowded beach. Be prepared to spend most of your time outdoors either under the palapa or poolside watching spectacular sunsets and being mesmorized by the jungle and beach views. Look carefully for the wildlife right in front of you. From the beautiful infinity pool deck, we saw many iguanas, toucans, agoutis and even a three toed sloth. Bring binoculars for a closer look. Having the pool was a must. So refreshing. Bring lots of sunscreen but bug spray was not required. The villa was fully furnished and well appointed and met all of our needs and exceeded all of our expectations. The community of Domincal is very casual and the people are very relaxed and friendly. No pressure to "milk" the tourists.
We stayed for 4 nights in this beautiful home. The house was perfect! The views were fantastic and we absolutely loved the pool area. It was so relaxing sitting out on the porch or by the pool with a nice drink, watching the ocean. We could hear the monkeys yelling in the trees. I would have to say our favorite part was seeing the iguana's climbing in the trees!
The bedrooms are downstairs and makes for a wonderful view of the ocean when waking up in the morning. We really loved the bathrooms, they were very spacious and the shower was awesome! It was just the two of us and we were constantly saying how we could have our kids here and have plenty of room.
The area has plenty of great restaurants and everyone was very friendly to us. There are lots to see and do in this part of Costa Rica. There is a waterfall not too far from the house that we went to and swam in. My husband went kayaking for a day and I hung out at the house at the pool enjoying the scenery. The one thing I would say is to make sure you have a 4-wheel drive, which is beneficial for any part of Costa Rica. It was definitely worth it to come here and we can't wait to come back!
First I want to express how beautiful this country is and especially this villa. The concierge was high energy and made us feel super welcomed and safe. We felt very safe in the gated community.
The restaurants in the area were great and we had an awesome time traveling to visiting towns to horseback ride on the beach, kayak through the mangroves, jet ski in the ocean, and visit the nayuca waterfall (Definitely check this out) which is only 15 minutes away.
The Villa itself is separated from the rest of the homes and is in front of them all. Which makes the pool seem very secluded. You have a great view of the ocean and a amazing porch to drink wine and relax on.
Overall the trip was amazing, the villa was clean and beautiful. The one complaint that we had was the water heater was not working the best. The pool was VERY cold, which didn't allow us to use it at all (We attempted twice) which was a shame because the pool is gorgeous. In addition the shower was also a little cold.
Besides that one feature we did not have any other complaints. Other then the fact that I would definitely advise a 4-wheel drive :)
thanks for allowing us to stay, we hope to visit Costa Rica again!
We stayed for a week in the flying monkey villa to celebrate our honeymoon. It was an amazing experience from the time we arrived until we left. The concierge set up the villa with beautiful red roses and candles the night that we arrived...very romantic and set a romantic tone for our entire honeymoon week. He also sent us a grocery shopping list and stocked the fridge for us...including a wonderful bottle of wine. The views from the villa across the rainforest and out across the ocean were amazing. We enjoyed our breakfast and coffee out on the deck or under the palapa each morning. Each day the concierge had arranged excursions of our choice...we loved zip lining in Osa, the ATV excursion, and the couples massage and private chef in the villa. We also did a lot of self guided exploring around the villa...the waterfall on the property is gorgeous and well worth a hike to see. The community of Dominicalito and the town of dominical were very authentic Costa Rican and had everything basic you would need...they are little more than a single dirt road lined with restaurants, surf shops, and local vendors. We absolutely loved the food in Costa Rica...there are some pretty fantastic restaurants within 10 minutes of the villa.
Our favorite thing about the villa was the privacy and comfort it provided for our honeymoon. We did our excursions each morning but nothing was as romantic or relaxing as coming back to the villa in the afternoon for a dip in the infinity pool and enjoying the breath taking views. There is an amazing outdoor shower by the pool and a wet bar...you really don't even have to ever go inside!
Both my husband and I would happily return to the villa for another romantic getaway:) it really is a lovely home.
Within walking distance of your villa, explore Poza Azul - a beautiful waterfall and swimming hole. Or you can explore miles of sandy beaches - Playa Dominical, Playa Dominicalito, Playa Hermosa, Playa Ballena (Ballena National Park), Playa Ventanas - to name a few. Zip lining within 10 minutes, and only 25 minutes away is a great horseback tour to the Nauyaca Falls. Manuel Antonio National Park and its beaches are only 45 minutes away.
