The suite's amenities include queen bed, full kitchen, toiletries, cable TV, Blu-Ray player, wireless internet, outdoor gas grill, firewood and outdoor fire pit, terraced gardens with rock walls, vibrant flower planters, trail access, expansive decks, lounge chairs, children's play-set and toys, guidebooks/books, maps for reference.

Born and raised in Minnesota, our jobs and the lure of frontier adventure brought us to Alaska. Tony-biologist by training; lifetime painter; loves hiking new trails and revisiting old ones. Avid reader, bird watcher, Sci-Fi geek. Katie-High school teacher; worked trails/interpretation for Alaska USFS; is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer, and an avid hiker, paddler, cycler. We have a darling school-age daughter and a happy, well-behaved lab.

Fantastic, comfortable home away from home. It worked great for my long-term stay but would be perfect for a weekend getaway, too. Close to downtown but is right on the greenbelt so I felt like I was out of the city. The hosts are wonderful and so welcoming. Their tips gave me the inside scoop on how to make the most of my time in Alaska. The unit itself was very cozy and had everything I needed. It also felt very private. I will stay here again on my next trip to Anchorage!
From the moment of our arrival at Alder Bluff Stay, we knew we had found a wonderful place from which to explore Anchorage and the surrounding area! Katie and Tony welcomed us like family. The apartment is at the back of their property, and feels very private, with a wonderful hiking path just beyond the deck that connects to Chester Creek Trail four houses away. It felt like staying in the woods, with the comforts of civilization just minutes away.
The apartment contained everything we needed, and more, and was immaculately clean and modern. Katie provided coffee and muffins for our first morning's breakfast, so thoughtful! The bed was exceptionally comfortable. The mudroom at the entrance of the apartment is very convenient in the volatile climate of Anchorage, and made it easy to follow the "no shoes" request. Hooks to hang wet coats were provided, and there was a handy shelf to put the keys. We can honestly say this is the best equipped VRBO we have stayed in. Best of all, Katie and Tony were happily available if needed, and were invisible when not! They offered their expertise in all things Anchorage (and beyond), and were handy with brochures and maps. Best of all was our visit with Katie and Tony the day we departed (sadly); we shared a delightful hour of coffee and conversation. We felt they had a genuine interest in our visit to Anchorage. We are only sad that we did not book more days at Alder Bluff Stay, and we will definitely return there if destiny returns us to Anchorage. Oh, and Yogi and Maggie were just frosting on the cake!
Property is as represented online. There were no unpleasant surprises. Host greeted us and welcomed us to the property (after midnight - late flight - rainy night). Otherwise left us alone. Freshly ground coffee and muffins were waiting for us for our first breakfast. Very welcoming personal touches. This property was exceptionally clean. Lovely thick towels, nice toiletries. I will recommend to friends!
I strongly recommend Alder Bluff Stay. This was our second time here and we look forward to more stays in the future.
Very charming, clean and comfortable rooms, really lovely deck overlooking the woods and trails; a swingset that charmed our grandson when he visited, and Katie went to the trouble of loaning us some toys for him. It is a great location between the University and downtown, a quiet street. We feel lucky to have found Alder Bluff Stay!
perfect little place, very clean, great location, very private. Easy access to trails and bike paths. Incredible and wonderful hosts who went out of their way to bail us out when we found ourselves with no place to stay very late in the day. We would recommend this place without any hesitation!
