One Bedroom plus a daybed in sitting area. The Fleur de Marigny Guest Suite was completely renovated with loving historic detail in 2009. The bedroom includes a queen size bed, bathroom with shower. An armoire houses a TV and ipod station. The pocket doors open to a comfortable sitting area with day bed, writing desk and comfortable seating area. The wet bar houses a small refrigerator/icemaker, sink, coffee maker, microwave and toaster. Condiments supplied by hosts. The sitting area contains a flat screen TV with DVD player and Bose radio. Built-ins showcase a complete library featuring an emphasis on New Orleans fiction and non-fiction titles. Central heat and air conditioning insure your comfort. From our convenient Touro St location all of the restaurants, shops, bars and attractions of Frenchmen Street and the French Quarter just a short walk away. Or catch the horse-driven carriages right outside the front door!
Brian and I bought our property in 2009. Originally, from the Washington DC area we fell in love with New Orleans after visiting 20 years ago for Jazzfest. We owned a vacation condo for many years and then found Touro St after we decided to make New Orleans our permanent home.
Kathy Olmstead purchased this apartment in 2009
Our home is an historic side hall shotgun home built in 1865. We completed the total renovation with attention to historic detail in 2009 and the front two rooms were reserved for the Guest Suite which we rent out for all the great activities and events only New Orleans can offer the discerning traveler.
The location of our home is perfect! We are in the quiet, residential section of the Marigny, but everything from clubs, restaurants and nightlife is right out our door. We are only 1.5 blocks to Frenchman Street where the 'locals' go for music and nightlife. The French Quarter is an easy stroll (only 2.5 blocks)!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful home with us. It is apparent that a great deal of love and thought went into the renovation. We had a wonderful vacation here and hope to return again.
Thank you for your help and hospitality
The location is perfect, a 2 minute walk to Frenchmen's and all that has to offer, 5 minutes to the French Market or the Quarter. But that's not what made this such a great stay in New Orleans. We are frequent travelers to the city, and this was our favorite stay. Kathy's attention to detail was amazing. The suite was perfectly furnished, with high end sheets, a very comfortable bed, spa sized towels, and just the right amount of modern amenities to be fully connected electronically without having a "business" feel to it. The beverages and snacks provided were well thought out for a broad range of tastes. After many trips to New Orleans we felt we knew the city, but Kathy gave us inside tips on things that were brand new to us, including alternative transportation to Jazzfest, and neighborhood "specials" that are generally unknown by tourists. I highly recommend this quaint retreat as a quiet respite to recharge after exploring all that is New Orleans.
Wow, what a place!! To start, you are greeted by Kathy who is THE warmest, most welcoming host. What a sweetie. Then an antique key opens the door to your beautiful, charming, super comfortable room. It is all it looks like in the pictures and more: super clean, beautifully furnished, and full of great snacks. The bed is one of the most comfortable beds I have ever slept in. The bathroom was also really nice and I loved the tiles. The best part is the location - walking distance to everything! Only a few minutes away from Frenchmen Street and a 10 minute walk to the heart of the French Quarter which is nice at 2am when you want some quiet to sleep. :) You will love it here, I promise! I just hope it's available next time we come to NOLA. Thanks Kathy!!
Fabulous, Fabulous, Fabulous.
Can not fault this property, wonderful location, wonderful accomodation, wonderful host.
This is the perfect place to stay. Huge rooms with all the amenaties you could need. Comfotable and spotless. Lovely living room with comfy sofa and HD TV. Great range of snacks and treats on arrival and the nice wet bar where you can brew coffee, do toast etc. (to be honest eating out is so good you will probably not use that much anyway).
Hosts were very helpful and nice to chat to about the best things to do in Nola, they balance that with allowing you all the space to do your own thing without interuptions.
As a female travelling alone this is a wonderful alternative to hotels or house rental, as you share the front door but have your own keys to your appartment, so have the security of being around others at the same time as having your privacy.
Thanks for a wonderful stay.
We stayed only two nights, and I wish we'd had more time! The apartment is even more beautiful in person than the pictures seemed, which is saying something because the pictures are amazing. Kathy was a wonderful host, greeting us with keys and a walkthrough upon arrival. The wine, beer, bottled water, snacks and coffee were unexpected gestures of hospitality that we REALLY appreciated. The location was perfect for easy access to the French Quarter. We enjoyed The Ruby Slipper for breakfast both mornings. We would most definitely stay again in the future. Thanks again Kathy for everything!
My husband and I loved everything about Fleur de Marigny. It is within walking distance to the French Quarter, Frenchmen Street, many jazz clubs and the Super Dome but far enough away for peace and quiet. One could have an evening out on the town and the next a lovely quiet dinner. The apartment is beautifully decorated, clean and just like the photos on the internet. Kathy and Brian go above and beyond making you feel welcome and attention has been made to the smallest detail. My husband and I throughly enjoyed our stay and plan on returning.
Unfortunately our home is currently on the market for sale and will be unable at this time to accomodate any requests for accomodations. Thank you for your understanding.
