Beautiful property set in lovely grounds where you can watch amazing sunsets over the distant mountains. The property is well equipped, clean and well maintained. Lots to do and see in the surrounding areas. I would highly recommend Casa Miele. We've already booked to return this year!

Wonderful holiday home in Tuscany

  • 5 of 5
Casa Miele is a real home from home, we have 3 young children and the house is fully equipped with everything we need, with a covered patio area for dinner outdoors and a big garden for the kids to play safely in and watch the fireflies in the evening. The house is in a beautiful rural area with the village of Bagnone only 10mins away for some tasty local produce, the surrounding area has some lovely restaurants to eat out in and for a day trip the beach is only 1hr away! We had such a great time there the last two years, we've booked again for this year.

Casa Miele

  • 4 of 5
Casa Miele epitomises a home away from home.
On arrival the house was very clean and well presented. The views from the villa are breath taking.
We specifically requested some 'baby gates' for our daughter and the owner and her local support were very accomodating to our requests.
The kitchen is very well equipped and set up to do whatever type of cooking you may or may not desire.
There really is everything you could wish for in Casa Miele. The only small suggestion we would have is a little more details in the house book of local places to get supplies, we struggled as we arrived on a Sunday when most shops were closed.
A very comfy, home from home stay, way up in the hills, secluded and exclusive.

Owner's Response: I am glad that you enjoyed your stay and that we managed to provide what you needed for your daughter. Thanks for highlighting the need to elaborate on the shopping info especially on Sundays when not all the shops are open. I will get on to that right away.

Hidden Gem

  • 5 of 5
This is a beautiful and spacious Tuscan home located in an amazing rural landscape, but in easy reach of all amenities you could want. I'll try and avoid the estate agent tone from hereon - but it is TRUE!

I stayed in July - a sizeable group of us - and enjoyed a truly relaxing holiday, with an array of different pursuits to experience and entertain us. Firstly, let me say that Casa Miele itself has attractively decorated, good sized rooms, with all facilities to hand, and lends itself immediately as a home from home. A favourite feaature was the porch overlooking the large garden, and the views of the valley beyond - a fabulous setting for spending warm summer evenings, eating and drinking al fresco. Ah yes - the food and wine - we know Tuscany is the home of culinary delights - and certainly we indulged ourselves - we even booked our own wine tasting evening on the mentioned porch! Highly recommended.

But it wasn't all about feasting - we explored the local area on some leisurely walks, taking in the villages, as well as more adventurous walks in the Appenine mountains, where the views down the valley down to the Tyrrhenian Sea were spectacular. Further afield, we spent a day on the coast, near La Spezia, picnicing and swimming; a day on the Cinque Terra, with its quaint fishing villages hugging onto the steep, rocky shoreline; a trip to pretty Pontremoli and its market where you must try the local cakes; and also the trail of the famous hilltop towns of Tuscany - Siena, San Gimignano, and Volterra.

Visiting the latter - the more famous sights - made me appreciate that the Lunigiana region of Tuscany, home to Casa Miele, is a relatively unknown hidden gem. I say definitely go and discover this treasure for yourself, and what better place to stay to do this, but the delightful Casa Miele.

Inoubliable !

A gorgeous hidden away haven any time of year

  • 5 of 5
My daughter and my partner and I stayed here back in early October 2008 and we were one of the first sets of guests to be treated to what can only be desribed as 'a gem in the mountains'. A very satisfying, unwinding and relaxing holiday.
First and foremost I'm not going to bore you with the details of the property as the pictures speak for themselves and other reviews have already listed all the facilities and comforts it has ( which are spot on!)Though I will point out that we loved the wood burner and the outdoor space there. Breathtaking to say the least!
Panoramic views of all the surrounding villages and mountains and with the most extraordinary changes to the scenery through the day as the sun moved across the sky. (big thumbs up!)
The great thing about holidaying here is that it's great to spend odd days at the villa enjoying eating and drinking al fresco, (local food and drink cheap and in abundance)
but it's location is perfect (especially if you hire a car) for visiting great tourist spots like Florence. I had the fortune of convincing my partner that Modena and Maranello were just up the road and it would be worth a visit. Now being a car nut and a foody meant I got to go to the home of Balsamic vinegar and Ferrari all in one day!
If either of these interest you then they are well worth the 2 hour drive
we ended up taking. And to top it all my missus even enjoyed the Ferrari excursion at the Galleria in Maranello displaying some of the most sought after cars on the planet. Not forgetting the Fiorano test track is in the town also and if yer lucky you might spot a practice taking place?
There are things to do local to the villa also. It's certainly worth jumping in the car as we did so many times and just go off and explore all the little villages scattered around the hills locally. And of course, not forgetting that Tuscany is food heaven on earth!
Bagnone has a food market a couple of times a week and further afield you have places such as Parma where Parmesan cheese and of course Parma ham come from.
A very pleasent place to visit and we may try and go again this year.
It's ideal if you want to relax and just read a good book in the sun and it's also good if you want to go on walks or drive around and visit the coast or go off hunter gathering. One of my favourite holidays on record.

Owner's Response: Thank you so much for the positive feedback. I had forgotten that people can visit the car track place, I had better clue up on that and add that to the guests information book.

Bagnone is one of the prettiest villages in the center of Lunigiana. Topped by a castle fortress with the typical round tower of Lunigiana, the castle is now divided into several family units for the lucky few that get to live in it and enjoy the view. It is possible to walk up to the castle from the lower town. A wonderful walk it is too, over the ponte vechio where an obligatory pause to enjoy the view and a great photo opportunity.

Bagnone was home this Summer 2009 to Europe's biggest ever lottery win. Well the ticket was purchased in one of its several cafes. The small picturesque town was swamped by international press for one surreal week where one reporter noted the irony of winning the lottery when you already live in a place that people fantasise about moving to after a lottery win! That says it all really it is a spectacular town known as the jewel of Lunigiana.

Amazing mountain walks for all fitness levels and he works with local schools so he knows child friendly walks and the things that kids love to see and know about. we also have a wine tasting expert who will come to the house and put on a wine tasting for you. There is a wide range of tasting packages to suit all budgets and tastes. Its recommended that you book early to avoid disappointment and to book the event at the start of your stay so you can enjoy all the leftover wine for the rest of your stay.
