Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, our favorite, is a short 25 minute drive and there are several public beaches along Lake Michigan as well.
Interlochen is within 8 miles of our cottage, providing travelers with wonderful live musical and theatrical performances.
Interested in attending an authentic drive-in theatre? Make your way to the Cherry Bowl, a short drive away just outside Honor.
Frankfort is a wonderful little town for dining, shopping, and ice cream! It also is home to beautiful beaches on the shore of Lake Michigan.
Another popular destination for our family is Riverside Canoe Trips with canoe and kayak rentals which take you along the beautiful Platte River until it spills out into Lake Michigan.
Last but not least is Traverse City, a 20 minute drive from the Cottage where you can find the State Theatre, with its star ceiling and specially-priced matinees. This city is on Grand Traverse Bay where you can take boating excursions and enjoy sport fishing in the bay. Traverse City is also home to the National Cherry Festival each year in July. If shopping is more your style, many local shops and specialty stores are to be found, including The Brew, my favorite stop for coffee and sandwiches, and The Lost Art knitting store where I have picked up some wonderful yarns.
