Perfect getaway spot!

I can't say enough good things about this condo. First off the place was immaculately clean, the pictures look exactly how it does in person. It is in a great location, quiet with that getaway feel to it but within walking distance to the village. The owners were great and responded to any questions very promptly. The condo has everything that you would need right down to the tempurpedic mattress! I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

Great ski vacation!

We come to N.Conway every year to ski and always rent a house or condo when we go. This was a great spot, close to everything without the hustle and bustle! Extremely clean home and also full of wonderful things for the kids! We had kids from 2-17 and everyone had something to keep them busy! The owners were great to deal with, very quick to respond, and extremely helpful! One suggestion was that it would have been great if we could have used the front door closet for ski/snowboard equipment but other than that highly recommend!

Good but not great.

For the price this location was pretty nice. It did have plenty of room for everyone to stretch out and have their own space. The kitchen was perfect size to cook in and the pots/pans and plates where nice to have. I could see that this would have been especially nice for a family with small children since there are child gates EVERYWHERE. I also like that the downstairs bathroom had another shower. It made it easy for a lot of people to get ready in the mornings.
Some of the things I thought were not great or particularly good . . .
The first floor (actual floor) was always cold. The master bedroom suite included a memory foam mattress. If you are used to sleeping on a regular mattress, it is difficult to try to sleep on a “total” memory foam system. A more practical solution might be a regular mattress with a memory foam top. This would be better for a more broad range of sleep types. I didn’t see any dishwasher detergent, so we did dishes by hand. The light switches were annoying. I saw an earlier post regarding this and I thought the owner had resolved. This did appear to be resolved at all. The proximity of the condo made it sound like it was a short walk to Mt. Cranmore or the center of town. Mt. Cranmore was a 8-10 minute drive with multiple turns. To get to the center of Town in North Conway took between 6-8 minutes by car. These would have been one heck of a walk. Communication needed to be better. The own sent a PDF of some things to know and one was available on the hutch of the dining room. There are no clear checkout times in this document. There is a paragraph entitled “When you leave” with a laundry list of items like “turn off TV’s” and “put sheets in hamper”, but nothing that says “Checkout time is _____”. The “When you leave” should be replaced “Checking out” with the top item being “Checkout time is ____”
Other than that the stay was fine.

-Our check in and out times are stated in our rental agreement that must be acknowledged prior to booking, however, assuming that some may not read the document, we will add it to other communications as well. We are always flexible with our times if the calendar allows.

-Our location is clearly listed in our advertisements. We are 1 mile from the village and 2 miles to Cranmore.

Friendly, clean, and great for groups

We had a great time up in N. Conway - the house was clean, more spacious than I anticipated, and the owner was so helpful in answering questions and getting us sorted out. One thing that was GREAT if you're traveling with little ones is that this property not only has a crib and pack n play, but the fireplace area is babyproofed, and there was also a baby seat for meals.

There were 8 adults and 1 baby in our group, and we all fit in the house no problem.

Our only slight drawback was that we happened to go on a VERY cold few days, and the downstairs heat wasn't always quite up to the task (but it was literally -17F overnight, so, I think that may have been a bit of a fluke).

Disappointed

The furnishings and decorations here are all nice and newer. Also, everything you could possibly need in the kitchen or for entertainment are provided. I did feel that everything was reasonably clean. But that is where the positives ended for me. We walked in, and there was an odor. Kind of like smoke covered up by air fresheners, which was annoying, since this is a non-smoking listing. Even more annoying was noticing that our bags smelled like smoke when we got home. As put together as the place looks in the pictures, I'd have to say that the property itself is almost in a state of disrepair. The screen door didn't stay latched closed. It took our 2 year old running out the front door to notice that one. All of the fixtures were chipped/cracked and dingy. The tub didn't drain well, so we were showering with water up to our ankles. None of the bifold closet doors were on track, they all just swung open. The fenced in back yard didn't have any grass. It was basically just dirt and leaves with filthy furniture and a grill out there. The kitchen window was cracked and did not close all the way or lock. No screen either, so bugs came in through the gap. The bathroom sinks had used bar hand soaps, complete with a dingy draining soap dish. It seems like more thought and effort were put into the decorating, furnishings and extras like video games, flat screen tvs and a Tempurpedic mattress, and not enough consideration was given to updating the basics that are falling apart.

Owner's Response: We are truly saddened when our guests have anything but a wonderful time and feel at home at our condo. We are hands on owners and appreciate that our guests choose us when staying in North Conway. We welcome and request that our guests reach out to us with any comments, concerns and suggestions for immediate and future improvements. In fact, we ask exactly that when asking our guests to review our condo. We also leave three phone numbers and emails for our guests to reach us during their stays. We were taken by complete surprise by this review, considering no on in the party felt the need to contact us during their stay. The review starts by saying that the condo is nice, comfortable, convenient, and clean, yet they only give it one star. We try hard to provide everything our guests could need except for the food. As we get suggestions, we have added to the amenities for our guest’s comforts. We are a non smoking unit. We ask that all guests smoke outside. We do not use air fresheners, what guest could have smelled is the cleaning supplies. We pride ourselves at the cleanliness of the unit when our guests arrive. We actually clean everything, where others may just make it “look” clean. A slow draining tub does require attention, and we have taken care of that, however, if we are not told it could go unnoticed. We provide cleaning products, paper towels and tissue, and bath products. If you did not wish to use the bar soap (located in a draining soap dish so that it does not sit in scum) we also have liquid soap and bath gel instead, or boxes of new bar soap in the closet. The condo is located in the woods of North Conway. Most guests enjoy the peacefulness of it, the cool shade of the trees and the sounds of Artist Brook babbling by. We too would love to have grass in the back yard, unfortunately, grass does not grow in the woods. Fortunately, the complex has a large grassy common area.
The condo is large. When our guests check out on time we have 6 hours to clean the unit for the next guest. Again, we pride ourselves in the cleanliness of the unit and take our time to ensure it. Cleaning and safety are the number on priorities. In the high seasons especially, we have guests checking in and out on the same day. As this is a home, we cannot give our guests a different room as a hotel would, to attend to a closet door or cracked window pane. We do the best we can, but some things cannot be fixed in one day.

We had so much fun staying at the Artist Brook Condo! The 3rd floor loft was a blast for the kids they enjoyed every second of it. Everything you would need for your stay is there so that was super convenient.
