This property was originally developed as a small camp in early 1900 and was passed down to us and we replaced the old camp with a year round home in 1999. We have a lot of fond memories of growing up and spending summers here with our children and grandchildren. I am sure you will find it an enjoyable retreat in the state of Maine.
The greatest part of this home is the privacy you will enjoy with a dead end road location. The porch is the center of all gatherings and beautiful sunsets are enjoyed from the porch rockers. Our favorite thing is to enjoy a cup of coffee on the porch in the morning and listen to the loons, and enjoy the peace on the pond.
I have been renting houses in Maine for over 12 years and the house on Taylor Pond was by far the most comfortable, as well as afforable, of all the houses I rented. The house is well equiped and has a "I'm at home feeling" to it. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen had all that one needed to prepare any type of meal. The screened porch was a great place to relax and enjoy looking at the lake, no matter the time of day. The fact the house is located at the end of the road was a plus and there was enough parking for two or three cars. The fishing was, in a word, great. I caught a lot of big bass in the 3-5 pound range, as I apparently hit the time they were fattening up for the winter. The rowboat was a definite positive for me and the oars worked well. The owner, Steve, was extremely helpful in answering questions and providing information on place to eat, especially ice cream and to worship on Sunday. In fact, he was so gracious that he even made us some pumpkin whoopie (sp) pies that were great. Thanks Steve for your kindness and letting us stay at your house on Taylor Pond
The camp is very much like being "at home". It is very clean and very comfortable. It is a short drive to Auburn and anything you would want or need. Freeport is less than an hour's drive. There were homemade cookie waiting for us, a pantry stocked with all necessities and good instructions for how everything worked. We didn't spend as much time as we would have liked outdoors because we were visiting family and friends. We definitely hope to stay here again next trip. The listing is very accurate and just as pictured. It is a long drive from Arkansas but well worth it!! Thank you Steve and Barbara for sharing.
Everything was as advertised with the house being clean, modern and ideally located. The owners couldn't have been nicer and answered every question we had. I've done several trips to this area and this was by far our best experience. I would and will recommend this location to family and friends.
Cottage does not even begin to describe this vacation home. We thoroughly enjoyed the lake and the amenities of this property. The house is very comfortable, clean and modern. We really enjoyed our morning coffee and evening quiet time sitting on the screened in porch. The lake is very clean and our kids had a great time swimming in the lake. The owners are very personable and the welcome gift of chocolate chip cookies was very thoughtful!
We are looking forward to our stay next year!
The vacation property is definitely nicer than pictured! It is very well maintained and very tidy, well landscaped and in exceptional condition! Very peaceful (dead end road) and beautiful sunsets overlooking the pond. Nice dock with swimming. The owners are very personable and respectful of the visitors' privacy. We'll definitely stay there again next time we are in Maine!
The ' cabin' is really a wonderful house with enough plates, ktichen and gathering space to serve 12 of your closest friends inside. If you are lucky with weather you can enjoy the huge screened inside porch and the dock too. The beds are not limp, the showers and water tank plentiful, the towels and bedding not worn. the kitchen has basic spices and plenty of functional cookware ( even a pastry bruch!) to enjoy cooking and the owners welcomed us with a plate of homemeade chocolate chip cookies! If you are looking for a home a way from home, this is the place for you.
