This beautiful home was built in 2007. It offers a large elevated deck to view the 1800 feet of river frontage and enjoy eating on after grilling your meal. A large open floor plan with vaulted ceilings, granite counter tops and solid rustic ash flooring really adds to the charm and beauty of this home. Along with 3 bedrooms and 2 full baths, the master bath having a steam shower, it also has a back deck with a hot tub for 8 and a fenced in yard. A complete kitchen is set up for all your culinary needs, and linens and towels are also provided. There is a view to the River from every room in the home except the bathrooms. Wireless internet and cable tv are also provided. There is plenty to do here with the river activities and many, many mile of state land to walk or hike! Guide service also available upon request.
I have been an active outdoors person all my life. I enjoy gardening, hikes, animal watching and many more outdoor activities.
Richard purchased this house in 2007
This property is one of the best in the area with many outdoor activities. Close to Traverse City and many tourist hot spots it can't be beat!
I purchased this vacant property in 2005 and camped on it for 2 years on and off to get a feel for the land before I built on it. I believe the location of the home and its surrounding land makes it a great vacation spot for all.
We rented the house for a getaway with two other couples. The guys had a mountain bike race. The house is unique, very clean, and well furnished. The owner met us when we arrived. The three bedrooms are about the same size, with the one on the lower level having a queen sized bed and a bunk bed if you have kids. We spent a good amount of our weekend laying on the deck, sitting by the river, or in the hot tub. The house is not as far as we thought from town. It only took us about 15 minutes.
Beautiful home with such wonderful amenities that I need to write this review to rave about it. Stayed just 2 nights in early May with 3 couples total - 6 adults. Fantastic places to relax every where - great chairs by the river with wood in the fire pit ready - - 2 hammocks - cozy lounge chairs on deck - best couches in house by TV - beautiful dinning table with wonderful seating and soft bar stools around the kitchen counter/bar. Top it off with nice hot tub on back deck and complete with steam shower. AH! Just the most relaxing time and will certainly highly recommend to all!
Earlier in 2014, we booked Richard's home for the week of Christmas with our family from Columbus, Ohio. The previous summer, we stayed on Richard's other property in his amazing cottage on the Boardman River with our daughter and son-in-law. It was the perfect getaway for the four of us, and everything about our stay was exceptional.
During this recent visit, we spent 5 days at Richard's house, with our family (7 adults and 2 grandchildren). As you drive onto the property and over the bridge, there is a beautiful view of the home, set in the woods, overlooking the river.
My husband and I were first to arrive. As we walked up the stairs into the "Great Room", we noted the smell of fresh pine. Richard had put a live Christmas tree up in the room with lights and decorations. It was a special touch! He warmly greeted us shortly after and showed us around the home to explain some of the amenities (woodstove, tv, etc) and answered our questions. This home is lovely, spacious and has been built with great attention to detail. Loved the views of the river from all bedrooms and the Great Room. The house is very clean and neat, and it is easy to feel very much "at home". Richard was easy to contact when we had a question, and always helpful.
During our visit, we celebrated our granddaughter's 5th birthday and had a fun Christmas celebration. There was some snow on the ground before we arrived. Our grandchildren did get to play in it their first day and build a snowman. We all were hopeful for more snow, but it rained instead during our visit. We stayed busy with other activities, including walking the trails, playing ping pong, board games, and also went bowling.
When it was time to leave, my husband and I wanted to stay a few more days to enjoy the calm, serene environment of the home and property. Thank you again, Richard, for providing such great hospitality!! We will be back!!

I spent the weekend with my four brothers; a sibling gathering. Words are inadequate to describe the wonderful time we spent in Richard's vacation home. The house is beautiful, well appointed, and thoughtful in design as well as detail. Every comfort was at our fingertips with gorgeous views of nature all around us. After our first encounter with our host, we wanted to ask him to join us for a drink or a conversation as he was multi-faceted and incredibly interesting. Richard provided ideas for activities and places for dinner. His suggestions were wonderful. Clearly, his talent is as well. I highly recommend enjoying this vacation heaven. In the very same moment, I wonder how difficult it will be to book as time goes on with the fabulous reviews he receives.
My wife and I stayed here for 4 nights while on our honeymoon. The property was fantastic! Very beautiful, especially since the colors on the trees were in full swing by the time we got there. The pictures are very accurate but they don't really do it justice until you actually get there and see it for yourself. The property was very clean and although we did not meet the owner when we got there, he was very helpful throughout the stay and always only a text or phone call away. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone who needs a place up north to vacation at!
Myself, my wife and two other couples recently had a wonderful biking vacation in Traverse City. Richard was a great host. He met us upon arrival, showed us how everything in the house worked, gave us suggestions on where to eat in Traverse City and invited us to pick and eat the tomatoes from his garden. Not only was he a great host, he is a wonderful builder. Our rental was built by him and it showed a attention to detail that impressed each of the couples on our trip. Our days consisted of breakfast, a day of biking, working out the muscle soreness in the hot tub, a drink on the balcony overlooking the river and dinner. (I cannot do justice in describing the beauty of the live edge slab dining room table) Traverse City itself is a wonderful place for day of biking. A great trail system, wineries, great lunches at small cafés and a vibrant downtown. Thanks Richard for allowing us to share your little piece of paradise and I hope we we be able to return some time in the future.
Located on the beautiful Boardman River just min. away from historic downtown Traverse City. Many wonderful restaurants, wineries, golf courses, and shops just to name a few of the many things available to do and see in the area. Great boating and fishing, hiking and kayaking. We have the Cherry Festival in July, Horse show in July, Movie Festival after that and many, many events thru-out the spring, summer, and fall. And don't forget about the fall colors. There is no better place to see them than on the River! There is plenty of wildlife in the area, lots to do and see right in this beautiful home's backyard! Enjoy a bonfire by the river and watch the night sky for northern lights and satelites!
