Sunnyside is a newly updated and luxuriously furnished elegant home on a very private lot with panoramic oceanfront views.
Located in South Ponte Vedra Beach south of between Ponte Vedra, home of the TPC Sawgrass Golf Tournament and north of St. Augustine, the oldest US city, and to the east oceanfront along the beautiful Atlantic Ocean and to the west and unobstructed view of the Guana Nature Preserve and River this property offers something for everyone.
Shopping at cute boutiques, upscale outlet stores, surf shops, and chain stores are all close by. World Golf Village and Sawgrass offer top notch golf and there are many locations nearby for tennis.
The nature preserve has kayaking and other ecological adventures and education. All water sports are available either on the ocean, the intercoastal or a nearby lake. From the old St. Augustine fort, Ripleys Believe it or Not, and Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth, St. Augustine offers much sight-seeing either on foot, bike, or trolley. Nearby Vilano Beach is one of the few beaches left that you can drive on which is a unique experience.
To the north, nearby Jacksonville offers a children's museum, the zoo, the Cumner Art Museum and Gardens, home of the Jaguars, and a beautiful riverfront walk with Friendship Fountain and several venues for arts and entertainment. The piers in Jacksonville and St. Augustine have fishing and the town squares have movies or music on most weekends.
To the south, Marineland is a must visit. Nearby is an Alligator farm and other zoolocial and wildlife centers. Kennedy Space Center and Cocoa Beach are 90 minutes south. Mt Dora and Micanopy beckon with antique shopping and quaint small town charm. And, not to be missed, Orlando and theme parks are less than 2 hours west! Disney, Seaworld, and Universal Studios await with magical adventures!
A typical day could include an early morning walk enjoying the sunrise and shell collecting, followed by swimming or paddleboarding. Then, head into St. Augustine for some shopping or sight-seeing and shrimp for lunch at O'Steen's (bring cash as they don't take credit cards!), then take a drive along the beach and people watch followed by a snack at Yocool, the yummiest frozen yogurt around (my favorite is coconut with frest strawberries!), have a nap outside and then head to Cap's on the Water (Intercoastal) for dinner (super fun for kids, they have these cool trees they can climb on) while you watch the sunset and the boats go by. Or, tour St. Augustine and have a delicious dinner at Harry's and hear the history of its ghosts. You can head into Ponte Vedra and have a relaxing spa day at the Ponte Vedra Spa, check out the Jax Beach pier, watch the surfers and have dinner at Barbara Jean's--don't forget to order the chocolate stuff ( yes, it is really called that!) or stay in Jax Beach and eat at Salt Life.
There is an abundance of camps and fun ideas for kids at the Jax4Kids website as well as surfing and paddleboard instructors available from the local surf shops. St. Augustine city is lit up from Dec to Jan 31st and there are many festivals from Amelia Island down to St. Augustine. Shrimp fest, the Jazz Festival, the Air Show, fireworks, and surfing competitions are just a few. One of the most fun pastimes is collecting shark teeth--I have a friend who found over 200 in under 2 hours!
