North Webster Cottage Rental Photos and Description
Efficiency Cottage With Kitchenette And Lake Views And Access
Chandler's Knob is a 225 square foot efficiency cottage, newly restored and remodeled in 2012. It is primarily intended for individuals or couples, but there is also a single hide-a-bed for a third person (maximum occupancy is 3). The open floor plan makes it feel much more spacious than the square-footage would imply.
Comforts include a double bed with all-cotton coverings, a kitchenette with sink, microwave, cooktop, and refrigerator/freezer, a dinette table with chairs, a bathroom with shower, and a living area with hide-a-bed couch and flat-screen TV with DVD player.
WIFI is available, and the heat and air conditioning make it suitable for all seasons - come play in the water or on the ice!
The historic nature of Chandler's Knob has been preserved through the remodel, which means that the ceilings are of varying heights and are relatively low -- the cottage is best suited to people of average height or below. I am roughly 5'11', and am comfortable throughout the building.
We have a pier that guests may use during their visit. The marina just down the street has a launch available if you bring a boat.

About Paul Henning
Paul and Jenny moved to the area in 1989. We raised our daughter here. We are active in our church, and love to meet new people. We regularly think about what a blessing it is to live in such a beautiful area, and are eager to share it with you!
Paul Henning purchased this cottage in 1995
Why Paul Henning chose North Webster
In the 1930s and 1940s, Barbee became a popular tourism destination, to enjoy our beautiful and clean lakes. Lots were sold, and early cottages were built. These were usually very simple fishing cottages, only a single room, and about 8 feet square. Over time, they were replaced with larger homes, or turned into a shed for a newer home.
Barbee remains a popular vacation spot, but only a few of the original cottages remain. Chandler's Knob is one of these originals. It started out only 8 feet square, then doubled in size, and eventually became its current size of 225 square feet. In recent years, the building was used mostly for storage, and as a place for our daughter to host sleepovers.
Over time, the years took their toll on Chandler's Knob. So, in 2012, a labor of love began. We fully restored the cottage to far beyond its original glory. We fully insulated it for all-season use, and added the modern conveniences. It now contains all the comforts you would desire, but in a tidy and affordable package.
What makes this cottage unique
Our home is immediately adjacent to Chandler's Knob. When we first viewed the property in 1995, our then-young daughter told us we must purchase it, because she wanted the little summer house to play in. We love the lake view, the access to the water, the gentle resort atmosphere, and Chandler's Knob, itself, has always been a special building to us. In 2012, we set out to make it into what we had always imagined it could be.
Guestbook comments from the owner
My sister and I recently spent four days and three nights at this charming cottage at Sechrist Lake. It is small, but perfect for two or three and didn't feel close or crowded in the least. It was well equipped with just about every need addressed. Everything was new and the decor was visually pleasing and attractive. The bed was extremely comfortable to sleep in. Even though it was only a full size bed, we did not feel cramped. While the cottage is not lakefront, we found enough to do in the surrounding area that it didn't matter too much. We spent a day on the beach at Center Lake in Warsaw, took a tour of Lake Webster on the sternwheel paddle boat, the Dixie, and explored the antique shops in nearby Pierceton. Having the cottage to return to after a busy day was something we looked forward to and it was relaxing just to be there whether reading, watching TV, or taking an afternoon nap. We totally enjoyed our time there and would consider returning. I may even return alone for a few days of quiet time. The owners, Paul and Jenny, were friendly and helpful and clearly have pride in ownership of this unique little gem of a place.
