Enjoy a walk on the property to the point and sit on the viewing bench with your morning coffee. Enjoy kayaking to Meeting House Pond or all the way out the river to Little Pleasant Bay and beyond. If you must venture out, 1 mile to Joe's Bar and Grill and the Sundae School and short bike ride to Nauset Beach.
This property has been in our family for generations. On the point, you will find 2 homes. My Aunt and Cousins live in the 'big house', my parents live in the boathouse, and our family cottage is being rented for the first time in it's history. I grew up in the Airforce and because we moved so much, I was able to spend my summers on the property with my brother and grandparents and it became my 'home town'. My children have now enjoyed the cottage every summer and with college upon us, we now have availability to rent our special home for the first time.
Betsy Bentley purchased this cottage in 1918
Every summer I spend time on the Cape with the intention of being a tourist - travel to Provincetown, shop in Chatham or dance at the beachcomber in Wellfleet - but then I arrive into the sanctuary of Meeting House Pond and I never leave. All stress is relieved , time slows down and we are able to enjoy friends, family, boating, long walks and reading with a view and a cool breeze.
East Orleans is a perfect Cape Cod location where the property is located on the inlet to Pleasant Bay leading to the Atlantic, it is biking distance to Nauset Beach on the Atlantic and Skaket Beach on Cape Cod Bay. See the sun rise over the water at Nauset and Sunset on the Bay. Here you can relax with a great book on the water or sign up for a whale watch or deep see fishing. Spend the day shopping in Orleans and Chatham or Antiquing along Rte 6A in Brewster. The bike trail will give you hours of fun where you can bike East to the National Seashore or West to a refreshing pond in Harwich - with plenty of ice cream stops along the way.
