There is one bedroom on the main level and a semi-private loft upstairs, there is an addtional day bed in the living area. There is one bathroom between the kitchen and bedroom. The beds inclued: 2 doubles and 3 twins. There is a large front porch to watch the stars on a warm summer night. (Open fires are prohibitted)
There is a landline phone for making local calls, there is not internet, television or cell phone access. Who needs that when you are so close to hiking trails and many other outdoor activities?
This cabin is pet friendly, we allow up to 3 dogs that must be 25 lbs. or smaller. They must be house broken and cannot be loose unsupervised in the cabin or outside.
My husband and I loved our weekend stay at this lovely cabin. We came for a wedding weekend in Lyons and the drive back and forth was lovely. We particularly liked the sense of old-time mountain Colorado. The cabin is an honest to goodness old log cabin structure with lots of lovely patina on all the wood surfaces. It's in an area with other older-looking cabins, which makes for a nice overall Rocky Mountain feel. There are lots of aspen trees in the area, so an autumn visit would be magical. It was chilly a few times, but there are baseboard heaters to warm things up. There is a lovely seating area outside by a little rivulet and very friendly ground squirrels. There is also access to the river in the neighborhood and the sound of flowing water is very relaxing. We will definitely be renting this cabin again.
The cabin was well equipped and easily accessible. Close to the stream and very peaceful.
It was a wonderful experience.
The only thing that was a bit of concern was that the heater and lights could not be used at the same time. It would trip the fuse and the fuse box was in the basement.
As another reviewer said, this was a great place to unplug with the family! Our family of four (including 2 teens) stayed two nights, but wish it could have been longer. Conversation, board games, and good books were a healthy alternative to electronics....we didn't miss them at all! This rustic cabin was so homey, peaceful, and relaxing, we had a hard time leaving. Loved that you could hear the stream across the street! Can recommend the food at Oskar Blues in Lyons. Bring long sleeves and jackets even in the summer, as the nights can get really cool. Our one complaint was that we were cold the first night, but I still had to give this rental a five-star rating.
This was a wonderful place to unplug with the whole family.
The little kids were entranced by the little stream and waterfall in the back of the property. They spend a lot of time finding blue jay feathers and watching the red fox explore the property in the evening.
This is our new favorite place in the mountains.
My husband and I stayed for several nights, then we were joined by other family for a total of 7 people.
We all loved this cabin!! We enjoyed hanging out in the living room, porch and kitchen bench as we all caught up with each other.
The cabin has a stream in the back yard that can be heard from the loft beds and is very soothing to sleep. The beds up there are soft and springy, so if you like a firm bed, be sure to call dibs for the master bedroom downstairs, which was firm and flat. I gave this a "good" instead of an "excellent" because of those beds and their location along a slanted roof, which made sleeping 2 people in each bed there a bit tight.
However, I would still reserve this again and feel good about recommending staying here. The atmosphere of the cabin is very welcoming, it has everything we needed (kitchenware, linens, and even local guide books).
No TV was NO PROBLEM for us!
The cabin was clean and well maintained.
And the location was fantastic. We spent several days in Boulder and several days in Estes/Rocky Mountain Natl Park. All were easy an scenic drives. And Lyons, the neaby town is very quaint with several good restaurants and a cool little grocery store.
If you like rock climbing, this location works well - again good access to Boulder, but we also saw people climbing right along the road on some rocks. Not sure if they are rated climbs or just people having fun. We also saw many cyclists along the road. Lyons also has a river with swimming and even a little whitewater tubing and kayaking, if that if your thing.
