Overview

Kapaau House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2BR+/2Bath (Sleeps 4-5)

'Hale Nahele' (Forest House in Hawaiian) aptly describes the PRIVATE setting for this custom multi-facetted redwood and cedar 2BD, 2BA house set among mature tropical trees and plants. The home is perched above a seasonal stream on a 3/4 acre property. You may enjoy a game on a large yard, while grilling on the Barbeque, an evening around the fire pit in the gazebo or perhaps star gazing in serenity on a 'floating bed' outside the master bedroom. Help yourself to any of the edibles you discover freely growing among the mature trees such as avocados, passion fruit (lilikoi), surinam cherries or papayas. Anthuriums, the native 'Nanu' (gardenia) and seasonal orchid flowers scattered about the landscape are sure to please your senses!

Inside, you'll be pleasantly surprised at the spaciousness of this customized 12-sided home. Antique Amber stained concrete floors were cut to look like large tile. Your eye will be drawn to the vaulted ceiling and peer through the spectacular 6ft circular skylight. The guest room has 2 twin beds, the master has a plush queen bed. The master bath features unique his and her sinks in front of a large picture window and an outdoor bamboo-surround shower! Both rooms have spacious cedar-lined closets.

Amazing forests views encompass the house from every room.

You'll appreciate your privacy while being within 1-2 blocks of the conveniences of Kapaau town such as local coffee shops, cafe's, and restaurants, shopping, ATM, and salon services. There are many other visitor attractions, including the popular statue of King Kamehemeha. The nearby Kamehameha Public Park has a pool, gym, tennis courts, playground, 6-hole golf course and skate park. A few minutes drive to the north will end at the breath-taking Pololu Valley where you may hike down and enjoy wiggling your toes in the black sand, collecting driftwood or simply relax and soak in the Hawaiian sun among the picturesque scenery. Boogie boards, beach chairs, towels and snorkel gear are available for your convenience when you venture out to any of our great nearby beaches.

About Kandace Eubank

This vacation home is run by the Eubank family: Kirk, Lani, Aaron and Kandace. We have been Kohala residents for 30 years.

Kandace Eubank purchased this house in 2008

Why Kandace Eubank chose Kapaau

We chose this property for its location and size. We found this right-in-town, yet private jewel of a lot and decided that it called for a unique house! All who have visited there have commented that they would love to use it as a vacation rental...and now it is! E komo mai.

What makes this house unique

We loved the variety of the trees and plants surrounding the property. The driveway enters the lot between two tall mango trees. Stand outside the front door and across the lawn you can't help by marvel at a banyan tree root that has 'S'd it's way up a palm tree! Though it's off the beaten path, it's still close to everything! Come enjoy this private, quiet, beautiful spot in North Kohala!

Aloha Found..

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here in March of 2015.. If you are reading these reviews, the first thing I'd want to know is that do the pictures in the listing accurately reflect the property.. They 100% do.. The place is just about "perfect" everything is clean, as represented and wonderful. The owners and manager are professional, and great to work with. We travel quite a bit, so have a bunch of history to call upon. This place was truly Hawaii.. If you are looking for "low key" area this is it.. So peaceful, quiet, with the local vegetation all around you. We simply loved this location and house. We spent most days enjoying the morning sun starting the day slowly then packing up the kids and heading south to check out the amazing beaches or explore the Island. Its a great "base" to explore from. We saw sooooo many whales along the way that we lost count... There are numerous restaurants within 5 minutes.. Very local,,, Very downlow Very yummy.. It was our first time to this Island, and frankly I couldnt have been more pleased with everything. If you are wanting the "Aloha" experience in a quiet relaxing home, feeling like a local instead of a tourist, this is your place!

Absolutely perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Without a doubt THE BEST Hawaiian vacation home I have rented so far! The property is large & tropical..perfect for my 2 yr old to run around & play. The home is immaculate. All of the features! ..the beautiful sinks, the huge shower, the outdoor shower, the kitchen.. so perfect! The beds were comfy, the house was clean & comfortable..truly felt like our home for the week.

This was our first time on the Big Island & the Kappau/Hawi area was definitely the prettiest in my opinion. An easy drive down to Hapuna Beach & walking distance to a lot of shops & restaurants.

If I visit the Big Island again, I will absolutely rent this property again!

Loved the nature it brings

  • 5 of 5

We had an amazing 6 nights stay, enjoyed all the amenities it offered. Couldn't ask for more. The place is very well taken care of as its been build recent years. Couldn't ask for more nature, the outside is just perfect with clean cut grass and high trees all around covering the property giving a secluded sense. everything worked the way it should, very friendly neighbors around, and just a walk away from local café shops and stores.

Owner's Response: Just a note to clarify: while we love animals our property is not a 'pet-friendly' listing.

just be careful of the mosquitoes :)

Owner's Response: Our guest's comfort and opportunity to relax at our property is our highest priority! Therefore, we go to much effort to mitigate mosquitos, which is a challenging problem in Hawaii where it is beautiful and green due to higher amounts of rain, especially lately! Nonetheless, we are delighted that you loved your stay. Come again!

Beautiful Unique Hawaiian Home

  • 5 of 5

We truly enjoyed our stay in this very unique home. My husband and I along with our boys ages 18 & 20 had plenty of space to spread out and relax. We really loved the round hammock and out door shower. Although it was very hot in the house during the day it cooled off in the evenings. It was wonderful to open all the windows at night and hear the breeze through the trees. The house was well furnished and had everything you needed. It was a huge plus to have access to the beach chairs and snorkeling equipment not to mention it was really nice to be able to use the washer and dryer. We really enjoyed how close the home was within walking distance to the town. GREAT pizza just around the corner. Highly recommend the Kohala Ditch Adventure Tour which was really fun. Our tour guide Hula was filled knowledge about the island. Enjoyed the black sand beaches and snorkeling areas. Just a note to keep in mind there were a lot of mosquitoes, geckos and a few cane spiders both outside and inside the house. The owners leave plenty of bug spray for you to use. These critters are all harmless but I would have liked to have known we might see them in the house. Keep in mind you are in Hawaii and are staying in a beautiful home surround by lush tropical foliage. The owner Kandace was very nice and always available with a quick response to my questions. Great place to stay!

Owner's Response: Thank you for your high praises of Hale Nahele and the surrounding community. You spoke so well of what makes Kohala special. None of us have yet learned how to completely tame the critters that pester us, though we will continue to try! So glad you enjoyed your stay nonetheless!
