Montisi is a small ridge top village south of Florence, in the Siena province. The village is surrounded by olive groves and makes for a good base from which to visit Siena, Florence, and the many ancient hilltop villages in Tuscany. Although you can reach Montisi by bus, getting there by car is the most convenient way, plus the twisty, winding mountainous road to it is a thrill to drive. Immersed in the particular area called Crete Senesi located in the south part of Siena Province: Montisi, Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme e San Giovanni d'Asso are part of these nice area where the particular ‘Calanchi’ or ‘Biancane’ make the surrounding of one of the most unique and interesting scenery of Tuscany. A trip to the Crete Senesi has the flavour of a daydream.
