Il Poggio is a gracious stone country house overlooking the breathtaking hills of the Orcia Valley, one of the most unpolluted areas of Tuscany famous for its Cretes. Its dominating position overlooks the area from Montalcino, Trequanda until Siena. The property is built out of stone and has been completely restructured. The strategic location of the villa offers the guests the opportunity to enjoy the beauty of the Tuscan countryside, and organising daily excursions to historical and artistic medieval villages as Montalcino, Pienza, Montepulciano or relaxing in one of the surrounding thermal spas of Bagno Vignoni, San Casciano dei Bagni and Rapolano Terme.

Park: Park: The villa is build on a 120 hectares, mostly used for cultivation and pasture. The house is surrounded by approximately one hectare of lawn enriched with flowers. Close to the property a spacious veranda well equipped with tables and benches for outdoor cooking is at disposal of the guests.

Swimming Pool: Swimming Pool: The swimming pool overlooks the rolling Tuscan hills and is located at 25meters distance from the property. The pool is open from the last Saturday of April until the first Saturday of October. It measures 6 x 12 meters and the depth goes from 1,20 to 1,40 m .The pool area is eqipped with sun beds, sun chairs, gazebo and tables.

Montisi is a small ridge top village south of Florence, in the Siena province. The village is surrounded by olive groves and makes for a good base from which to visit Siena, Florence, and the many ancient hilltop villages in Tuscany. Although you can reach Montisi by bus, getting there by car is the most convenient way, plus the twisty, winding mountainous road to it is a thrill to drive. Immersed in the particular area called Crete Senesi located in the south part of Siena Province: Montisi, Asciano, Buonconvento, Monteroni d'Arbia, Rapolano Terme e San Giovanni d'Asso are part of these nice area where the particular ‘Calanchi’ or ‘Biancane’ make the surrounding of one of the most unique and interesting scenery of Tuscany. A trip to the Crete Senesi has the flavour of a daydream.

  • The property is divided on two levels. The main entrance is located at the same side as the swimming pool area. From the main entrance there is direct access to the living room with satellite TV, sofa and dining table. Adjacent to the living room there is a functional corner kitchen. On the left of the living room there is one double bedroom, one twin bedroom and two bathrooms with shower. One of the bedrooms has a direct access to the outside area. On the right side of the living room you have access to the kitchen and to the spacious dining room that leads directly to the veranda, to an extra double bedroom with bathroom and shower and to the laundry room. The first level is accessible via an internal staircase in the hall next to the dining room. This floor is composed of two master bedrooms, , one bathroom with shower and a second bathroom with bath tub and Hydro-jet shower.

Our two families with children thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this wonderful villa. It was close enough to Florence, Siena and a number of smaller towns to make day trips and come back in time for appetizers and dinner. The layout worked well and the pool was a welcome relief.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children
