About Manager

Originally from the Midwest, my husband and I moved to Colorado because of our love of the mountains.

Manager purchased this house in 2012

Why Manager chose Buena Vista

We enjoy rafting, soaking in hot springs, jeeping, ATVing, hiking 14ers, exploring new places, and secluded relaxation so having a property near Buena Vista allows us to fully enjoy all of these activities.

What makes this house unique

As soon as we drove down the private, secluded driveway, we knew this was the place: creek side, quiet, acreage, awesome views of the surrounding mountains, no views of any roads, not in a subdivision, cozy but roomy interior, and the feeling of being out in the middle of nowhere even though we were less than 10 minutes from BV. Especially nice is watching the deer and herons move through the property and the soothing sounds of the creek as you are dozing off to sleep.

Retreat on the Creek is a Great Place

  • 5 of 5
This place is really outstanding. It has a ton of room and if very comfortable. The master is SUPER!! It's huge and very, very comfortable. The views from the cabin are very good and the creek running by the cabin was really nice. The cabin is a little older than I thought from the pictures, but, a very, very nice place. I would highly recommend it.

Wonderful venue for our family vacation

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed a perfect week at the Retreat on Cottonwood Creek. My husband and I and our four adult sons and two daughters-in-law gathered from all over the US to spend a week at this lovely home. We knew we loved the area--when our boys were small we had camped at Chalk Lake and explored the region.
The home itself is everything it claims to be....quiet, peaceful, secluded, comfortable. I have never rented a house with such comfortable furniture and luxurious linens--thank you! We used the house as headquarters for many adventures: hiking, bagging a 14er, fishing, and rafting. The beautiful surprise is that you truly can fish the creek that borders the property. My fly fishermen caught plenty of brookies and browns in Cottonwood Creek; the cutthroat and rainbow hang out above Cottonwood Lake and below Chalk Lake.
We will most certainly return to this home unless we decide we need to purchase one of our own.

Perfect Cabin in a Beautiful Part of the State.

  • 5 of 5
Really can't say enough good things about the cabin. The property owner is great to deal with and typically responds to e-mail communication very promptly, usually within a few hours. After making the drive up the long private driveway, I knew we had reserved the right place for the weekend. As another reviewer stated, there is another house visible from the cabin but there is definitely enough distance between the two for you to have complete privacy. We were there celebrating a friends 30th bday party and were outside a majority of the time near the hot tub enjoying drinks and talking without ever feeling like we were bothering the neighbor. We drove by him once and to me he just seemed like an innocent old man that wouldn't bother anybody. Not sure if he even noticed us besides the one time we drove by. The cabin itself is really quite cozy. Every single bed and couch in the place was as comfortable as you could ask for. The private tree house bedroom would be perfect for those looking to get some privacy from the rest of the group they are travelling with - no bathroom, but the walk inside is pretty harmless, if needed. Upstairs king bed area is huge with its own fireplace - I was able to open the door to the balcony deck and fall asleep to the creek rushing by which was great. There is a single bed connected to the master bedroom which is separated by cloth drapes, not a big deal to our group but something I thought I would mention. Hot tub 2 steps outside one of the bedrooms was our favorite feature of the cabin - awesome sitting underneath the stars in the snow in the comfort of a hot tub. We cooked some steaks on the grill which was a very nice propane with side burner - could probably fit 10 steaks on that bad boy at once. Location - Far enough way to feel secluded yet super close to town and activities. Literally 5 minutes away from some of the most beautiful hot springs i have been too as well as 5 minutes from "the colleges" which my buddy told me were 3 14K peaks which aren't found anywhere else in the country. Wireless internet is available but cell phone service was actually great if not better than wireless so no worries about lost calls while at the retreat. nice flat screen tvs with a decent selection of movies. One thing that tricked us a bit was that we did not think there was additional trash bags. These were located out at the bins at the end of the driveway. hope to be back again sooner than later.great bang for the buck!

This retreat is wonderul! You feel at home the moment you step inside. It is an extremely comfortable get-a-way! The owner truly takes pride in her property and in addition provided excellent information about the town and surrounding area as well.
We will absolutely return and I would highly recommend this place.

Beautiful, well maintained cabin

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at the "Retreat on the Creek" for two nights. There was 7 of us and we all had a comfortable place to sleep. The location of the cabin is perfect - right on a beautiful creek, just down the road from Cottonwood Pass with many beautiful trail heads. We will be back!
