This six bedroom, three bath, three-story chalet is the perfect getaway for both winter and summer. Located in Tahoe City, walking distance to the backside of Alpine Meadows Ski Area, at the Sherwood Lift high speed quad chair, you can walk there and ski home. No crowds, no lift lines, no hassles. You'll have access to a homeowners parking lot that will allow you to park directly across from the lift if you choose to drive.

When the snow melts, the surroundings become a playground to hike, bike, and fish. Tennis lovers can enjoy the homeowner tennis courts, golf lovers can enjoy the multitude of golf courses within a ten mile radius, beaches and picnic areas are within biking distance to the house. There are a ton of hiking trails just out the back door, and a great fishing creek just down from the home. The activities in the Tahoe Basin are endless. Located on the West shore of Tahoe City, you are three miles from the Lake and restaurants, and close to Chambers Landing and Meeks Bay with great sandy beaches, BBQ grills, incredible views, and a day full of bliss.

The house is chalet-style and has an open floor plan that can accommodate your family and friends well. The 22 foot cathedral ceilings, and floor to ceiling windows, with expansive wrap around deck offer a great house to enjoy the spectacular views from. With 2 sliding glass doors, the sunny deck becomes an extension of the great room with lots of patio furniture, BBQ, and privacy. There is a large 2 car garage with extra parking, and 40 foot enclosed walkway for easy access to your cars in the wintertime.

As you walk in the front door, you are greeted by a Spanish tile hallway leading to 3 bedrooms. All bedrooms have Hotel style bedding which includes 400 count sheets, feather or memory foam topper, duvet with bed cover, 4 pillows, and throw at end of bed. Sleep hard, play hard is our Lake Tahoe motto. There are 2 bedrooms with queen beds, each with a sliding glass door that exits out to a deck. Here you can enjoy a hot tub with the views of Twin Peaks. In the wintertime, you can watch skiers short cut home from Alpine Meadows through the front yard, and in the summertime you can watch squirrels climb the trees. Down the hall is laundry home, full bath, sauna area and another bedroom with queen bed and twin. The sauna is the size of one you'd have a gym: 2 levels with enough room to spread out in. Next to the sauna is a changing area and with a 'Finnish' touch. Cool off in the shower room with four shower heads and glass atrium that looks out into the forest. It's a great way to end a non stop day. The changing area is also connected to a full bathroom. There a bathrobes in each bedroom and in changing area for your use during your stay here.

The second level is the 'Great Room' and that it is. With 22 foot cathedral ceilings with floor to ceiling windows you won't be able to keep your eyes off the beautiful views of Twin Peaks . Bring your binoculars to view the occasional extreme skiers who snow mobiles up the mountain range and ski's down. Two sliding glass doors exit out to a sunny wrap around deck with a barbecue, and patio furniture which is used in summer and winter. This level has the kitchen, living area and dining area all looking out to the views. The granite countertop kitchen is fully stocked and overlooks the living and dining area. The living area has a leather sectional and faces a large stone fireplace. The crackling sound of wood burning on a snowy day is a treat. The dining area is 1/2 nook with pillows, and 1/2 chairs. You can eat here, or relax here. It all faces an entertainment center with TV. DVD, stereo, IPod dock, and some games. From all areas in the main area, you can watch TV, enjoy the fireplace and views, or socialize with the rest of your group.

Off the living area is another full bath attached to a bedroom with queen bed. Next to that room is the Master Bedroom. There is a King-size sleigh bed with TV half bath off a changing area, and walk in closet. Indirect lighting and views of the forest make this room a bonus. Up the stairs from the living area, is an enclosed loft with pool table, and two twin beds. Play pool during the day, and use the room for sleeping at night.

There is wireless internet, 3 satellite TV's, 2 DVD players, 2 iPods docks, and 2 stereo's, washer and dryer, as well as upgraded linens and towels, and extra niceties for make your stay enjoyable. When you arrive at the house, all beds are made, towels hung, and coffee service is provided for your first morning. The house has all the amenities of home and more. The furnishings are user friendly with plenty of seating for your family and friends. High ceilings with large wooden beams, triangle shaped windows, and mountain decor compliment the 'Tahoe' feeling. The location and amenities of this home makes this a great vacation home year-round.

Guestbook comments from the owner
My family and friends stayed here for 1 week in March. We walking into the "the Great room" and was amazed at the views from the deck and the whole room!. The bedrooms were comfortable, the kitchen stocked with all the kitchen gadgets we needed, and the sauna and hot tub were a real plus. We skiing all day and it was bliss to chill in the tub. The skiing was fantastic. There is a homeowners parking lot that we had a pass for when we didn't want to walk to the lifts. We could just park the car and walk right across the street to get on the lift. There is also a warming hut with bbq and beer at lunch, but some of our non skiers enjoyed having coffee there in the morning and just watching the skiers.

It is located in Tahoe City, on the back side of Alpine Meadows, so it was a lot closer to the lake and downtown Tahoe City. The house was super quiet with all the house in this area divided by forest land. We really felt like we were in Lake Tahoe with all the pines, yet close to stores and restaurants.

We plan on coming back this summer to enjoy the Lake. It is 3 miles from the Lake on the West Shore, and close to Chambers Landing which is our favorite beach. It is also close to the bike paths so we're bringing our bikes.

Great home, can't wait to come back to this.

Lake Tahoe is a magical place to be both summer and winter. Please feel free to call me with any questions.

Lake Tahoe is unparallel to any other destination I've been to in the world. The skiing in the wintertime is suburb, the beaches at the Lake in the summertime is liked being in Hawaii. White sand and crystal blue water. The weather is perfect and concussive to doing anything you want outdoors, year-around..

The location and privacy. Homeowners and their guests have access to a private parking lot right across the street from the Sherwood lift at Alpine Meadows. You can walk there from the house, or park there and hop on the lift! There is also a warming hut by the lift that serves BBQ, hot chocolate, beer, etc and lots of chairs.

I like both seasons. The skiing speaks for itself, but in the summertime there are tons on trails to explore around the house. Page Meadows is a popular trail system located a block away. The house is just up from the Lake at Sunnyside Resort which has a great restaurant with huge deck on piers right on the lake. You can spend all day here watching the wooden boats come in for a beverage or dining. You can access the bike path here and ride to River Ranch which is a beautiful ride along the Truckee River. Once you get to River Ranch, you can enjoy another great deck for dining while watching the river rafters come in. Rafting is a fun thing to do also.

Tahoe City has lots of restaurants and shops to enjoy. There is always something going on there to add to a weekend.

Even though there are tons of things to visit in Lake Tahoe, I totally enjoyed just hanging out in the house and on the deck. You really feel away from it all, but are close to everything. Plus...the views from this house are incredible.

HOLIDAY GET-A-WAY

  • 5 of 5
If possible, I'd give my stay in this home 5+ stars. Sandy has a beautiful home and my family and I really enjoyed the stay here. Firstly, the pictures on this website can not capture how incredible the views are from her home. The home has a wall of windows in the living room area that allowed us to capture the views at any moment. The home was very clean and provided all of the amenities mentioned in the description and more. Additionally, the people in the area enhanced our visit. The home is just 2-3 miles from Tahoe City, and ~10 miles from Squaw Valley. Everyone was friendly and welcoming which made us feel right at home. We were also able to do some hiking as there are several trails in the area which was quite enjoyable. The owner provided as much information that we needed during the rental process and were very pleasant to work with. This was my first time visiting Lake Tahoe and my stay here was definitely memorable. I highly recommend this home and look forward to staying here again in the future.

FANTASTIC HOUSE WITH FANTASTIC VIEWS…

  • 5 of 5
Our visit was in May 2014. My husband and I and four other couples had just finished a bus tour which ended in Lake Tahoe and were looking for some down time together. We picked your house and were very pleased. It had the WOW! factor. It was even better than the pictures. The view from the front of the house looking across the valley and mountains was stunning! The many bedrooms suited everyone very well. We could all spread out and not get in each others' way. Several of us would sit out on the deck as the sun came up over the mountain, drink our morning coffee, and enjoy the tranquil beauty. The house had everything we needed and the sauna and hot tub were nice perks. Sandy gave us the names of some very good restaurants nearby and places to visit. Your directions to the the different spots were very helpful and we found many incredible places we couldn't have found without your help. We had never seen anything as beautiful as Emerald Bay. The East shore was great to see with many beaches to take our dog. We had a great stay at your house thanks for all your help.

GREAT TIME IN TAHOE

  • 5 of 5
Wonderful home for a 4 day weekend. Our group was 5 couples and we have been getting together for many years for some catching up on life and relaxed times. This house was perfect for us. You can leave for outings during the day but then come back home for a home made meal, some wine, and great music without disturbing any neighbors. The location is very private with really nice views. There is a wrap around deck where we would make many of our meals and enjoy the warm nights. Everything was clean, organized and in great condition! The owner was very communicative and friendly. Great location to nearby hiking, shopping and eating.
We loved the hot tub and watching movies on very comfortable leather couches. The house and beds are very comfortable and well. It was just a really lovely location and we would definitely
like to stay there again.

FAMILY VACATION

  • 5 of 5
I wish I'd kept track of how many times a member of the family said "Wow!!" during our visit to the Alpine Chalet . The views from the house are spectacular and change often, depending on the time of day and weather. The house itself was spotless on arrival and tastefully decorated in an elegant but relaxed style. It is spacious, well laid out and we found all appliances to be in fine working order. Our eldest daughter appreciated the privacy of her own bedroom with exit to hot tub on the lowest level, while my wife and I enjoyed waking up to glorious mountain views up in the master bedroom. I gave the well-equipped kitchen a real work-out as our family tradition is that each member gets to choose their favorite meal for dinner. So, we grilled, we roasted in the oven, we sauteed, we boiled, etc. The hands-down favorite place to dine was out on the deck section of the front porch. Other than a quick jaunt to nearby downtown Tahoe City and a few hours of shopping, our family wanted to stay on site, enjoying the hot tub and other amenities at the house. Our youngest is 12, but you could easily see how a family with children would enjoy a stay here The closest supermarket/wine store is conveniently located less than 15 minutes away. You'd be hard pressed to know that civilization is in such close proximity.

This was a perfect house choice for our Family. We will not only recommend it to our friends, but look forward to a return visit in the future. Thanks for providing our family with great memories of our annual family vacation.

SERENE HIDEAWAY!

  • 5 of 5
My family rented this house in late Aug just for an extended weekend (10 adults). It was clearly a loved home, and it was a lovely visit. My husband and I were in the back MST. bedroom with the King; we woke to the lovely sound of birds chirping and to the beautiful site of trees spread against the sky. The window above the bed looks into the forest with tall pine trees with tons of squirrels climbing around. The smell of the pines was intoxicating. Coming from the city, we had forgotten how special it is to be in the mountains. The beds were also quite comfortable with extra pillows and bedding. The kitchen was well appointed, and found the granite countertops easy to keep clean ( my husband and I are talking about changing ours! ) The great room has a nice sectional and the views from this room are spectacular. The 2 sliding glass doors were left open and we spent the days on the sunny deck totally enjoying the sounds and smells of the pines while looking at view.

There were fun board games, movies and some books in addition to the small pool table. There is national forest land pretty right out the backyard, and one of the marinas is less than a 5 minute drive (you can rent kayaks and boats there). There is also a beach we enjoying picnicking at next to the restaurant on the Lake. Across the street from the beach is a bike rental shop which we took advantage of 1 day and rode to River Ranch for lunch. It was the 1st time we spent anytime on the bike path and/or Truckee River and it was really enjoyable.
Even thought the cabin is surrounded by open space, we were just a few minutes to downtown Tahoe City. Lots of great Lake front restaurants and fun shopping. Try Jake on the Lake for happy hour.
Really fun weekend and the cabin and location was just what we were hoping for.

GREAT STAY

  • 5 of 5
We really enjoyed our stay. The chalet provided sleeping space for everyone and we have a great view of the surrounding woods and mountains from the two house balconies. The house provided for all of our needs and we were able to have some great barbecues. The cool nights made sleeping wonderful. My grandchildren loved all the forest creatures they saw around the property and along the hiking trails that were a very short walking distance from the house. We were close to all the many activities in the area but far enough off the main roads to be very quiet. It is a short drive to the lakeshore and downtown Tahoe City will lots of shops and restaurants. Loved Commons Beach and the many activities going on in town. We spent many days having lunch on the lake at the restaurant just down the street. The neighbors around were very friendly and informative about the activities in the area. Sandy was very helpful and informative during the entire rental process. It was a great vacation and my children and grandchildren look forward to staying at this alpine chalet again. I would recommend this property to my family and friends.

Located in one of the most desired neighborhoods on the North Shore, you are walking distance to the back side of Alpine Meadows with privileges. There is a private parking pass that will allow you to park right at the Sherwood lift, a quad high speed chair, and get on! Alpine Meadows allows the homeowners living in this neighborhood and/or guests to start here without at ticket and ski to the front side to purchase it. And, the homeowners have their own snow grader which purposely leaves enough snow along the roads so you can ski home if you want to leave your group. Don't ski? Enjoy the hut at the lift for morning coffee, lunch, or just watching all the activity on the hill. In the summertime, the cat tracks become a playground for mountain biking and hiking. Endless trails with Lake views and wildflowers will keep you entertained.

The snow melts into Ward Creek which is easily accessed from the house, known for its trout fishing. Tennis? yep...2 homeowner tennis courts are here for your use.

Ward Valley is known for its peaceful setting of houses divided by forest land and views that are breathless. Just up from the Lake at Sunnyside Resort, you have total peace at the house, and 3 miles away you're at the Lake with shops, restaurants, nightlife, and an array of activities. Tahoe City is the city to be in on the North Shore. With Alpine Meadows, Squaw Valley, and Homewood at your doorstep, you won't be able to ski a run twice. The winter months is a haven for skiing, snow boarding snow snowmobiling. cross county skiing, and with its backdrop the Lake.. you can't beat the experience.

Summer is as good as the winter. The Truckee River opens its doors to the melting snow which offers a nice river for rafting. You can pick up your raft in Tahoe City and cruise down to River Ranch. Its mild enough for the whole family. At River Ranch there is a large outdoor deck with BBQ, outdoor bars, and a great spot to watch the rafters come it. Raft 1 day, bike another. You can access the bike path from the house that will meander along the Truckee River to Truckee. River Ranch is a 1/3 way point.

Tahoe City boasts Commons Beach, but some of the best beaches on the Lake are found on the West Shore. Meeks Bay has a beach that will remind you of being in a cove somewhere in Hawaii but with mountains. Pristine, crystal clear blue water, white sand beach, smell of tall pines, views of mountains. Its a wonderful setting for a picnic. Chambers Landing is known for the long pier/dock with bar and restaurant at the end of it. This is where all the great wooden boats eventually stop at for a refreshment. The beach is beautiful here, and the entertainment remember able. Can't beat the lakefront restaurants. West Shore Cafe has dining on their pier, with large deck, outdoor bars, and incredible food. 3 miles from the house is Sunnyside Resort with outdoor deck, boat rentals, pier and definitely an afternoon libation. You'll find a multitude of lake front venues in downtown Tahoe City.

Lake Tahoe is truly a special place, and this is a special house to enjoy it in.
