Additional amenities include furnished multilevel decking areas and an outdoor fire pit for star gazing or just enjoying the breathtaking sunrises over Lake Huron. The lake is just a few steps out from the back door with full privacy. The lower level is partial walkout and has pool and ping pong tables, along with few exercise equipments.
We had eight adults and five grand kids and had plenty of room. The house is equiped with many extra for kids and adults on rainy day or nights. Ping pong etc. beach was great kids loved it. We could not have asked for a better experiance!
Our big family rents various cottages usually on the west side of Michigan. This year we decided to try the east side and we were not disappointed. The pictures posted on this site do not do this property justice! This property is beautiful and has everything you could need for a wonderful relaxing vacation. We had four families (we rented the other two cottages as well as the main house) staying for a week and it was just beautiful. The main house had a huge kitchen with and lots of space to move around. The older kids enjoyed the basement with the ping pong and pool tables. The private beach area was clean and the water clear. Sam and his staff were impeccable and we will definitely rent again. I highly recommend the Stone Lodge to eat at. Reasonably priced and food was great. If you are looking for a time of rest, relaxation and family bonding, this is the place. Very happy with our choice.
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary with all our children and grandchildren in this idyllic setting and loved it. The property was perfectly adequate for the needs of 15 people, ranging in age from 9 to 73. The big rooms, basement game room, beach and yard provided plenty of room for small or large group activities as needed. The house was well-provisioned and maintained, clean and comfortable. Sam, the manager, did everything he could to see that our stay was pleasant, and we appreciated his personal attention. We have already booked our stay for summer 2015.
We took a group of individuals for a long yoga weekend. The house suited us perfectly as we had individuals and not couples attending. Therefore, we needed a house with a lot of beds (not just bedrooms). There were 11 of us and we felt as if we had enough space. Getting to the beach was easy. The outdoor area was well kept and accessible. The bed we slept in was comfortable. The dining area was big enough so we could all sit around the two tables. Spacious, clean, on the water, reasonably priced...what else could you want?
My family and I enjoyed our stay in Port Sanilac last summer. These accommodations fit our family well. Four generations of family gathered here from 6 different states. About 20 of us stayed in the main house and 6 stayed in the white house. This worked well because my parents who are in their 80's stayed in the white house which enabled them to have a place to get away from hustle and bustle of the main house. The bedroom and bathroom were handicap-assessable for my mom who was in a wheelchair.
The little ones enjoyed building sand castles on the beach and playing in the spacious yard. the fire pit was great for making s'mores. We loved the view, sunrises, and watching the freighters on Lake Huron. Falling asleep to the sound of waves was awesome.
The houses were clean and well-maintained. Sam was very helpful and accommodating. It was adequately supplied with pots, pans, dishes, towels, and linens. We take turns cooking our meals, so an extra refrigerator was appreciated and the barbeque was well used.
We liked being close to Port Sanilac. We took advantage of the Arts and Crafts Fair, wine tasting, miniature golf, and general shopping. The guys also found some nice golf courses in the area.
We thought it suited us so well, we plan on returning for another reunion in 2014.
We stayed at these beautiful cottages last summer 2013 and I have completely forgotten to write a review. My family and I recently stayed at these beautiful cottages for our second annual family reunion. We had 15 people staying in the large house, seven people staying in the white cottage, and five people staying in the red cottage directly on the water.
Our experience was amazing and the owners were very very accommodating. The beach was sandy and the view was breathtaking; especially the sunrise view from the balcony of the bigger cottage.
The main house was spacious and probably could have accommodated 10 more people. The bedrooms were also spacious and pleasantly decorated. The kids were in love with the bunk bed rooms. There were plenty of beds to choose from, not including the pull out couches that we didn’t need to use.
The cottages had everything you need: pots, pans, linens, washer and dryer, plates and utensils, blankets and towels etc. We did not need to worry about anything. The houses were extremely clean and well kept. The beds seemed brand new and were very comfortable. The bedding was clean and all sheets were freshly washed.
The property had three different bonfire pits, but we didn’t end up using all three. Just the one by the big house. We ventured out to downtown Port Sanilac and Lexington during the day, went to the marina for music and ice cream, and spent time taking in all the nature. All the kids had a wonderful time and are begging to go back this summer—and so are the adults
Thank you Sam for a great time, we will be coming back this summer!
