|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
The property is located at the Executive Centre in Honolulu's Downtown/ Financial District. The Executive Centre is a 41-story, mixed use complex (hotel, residential and commercial property) that is conveniently accessible to public transportation, freeway access, and within walking distance to State, City, and Federal buildings, financial institutions, hospitals (Queens, Straub, Kaiser, Kuakini), Hawaii Pacific University, University of Phoenix, University of Hawaii, and many of Honolulu's historic buildings and attractions in the Downtown area (Iolani Palace, Kamehameha Statue, Chinatown, Aloha Tower, Mission House Museum, Hawaii State Art Museum, State Capital). The unit overlooks Hotel Street and the reserved parking and unit are both located on the 8th floor. Parking and wi-fi are included in the daily rate.
The unit is spacious (525 SF), comfortable, and affordable. There is a queen-size bed and a full-size sofa bed, room for 2-3. Whether you are here for business, leisure, or for family functions, our mission is to meet your travel needs, to save you a little $ when you visit Honolulu, and to offer you an opportunity to stay in the Downtown/Financial/ Historic District -- the Heart of Honolulu.
Enjoy fresh fruits, vegetables, and local favorites at the Fort Street farmers market on Tuesdays and Fridays or visit the numerous eateries in the Chinatown/Downtown neighborhood that offer international flavors. The famous Murphy's Bar & Grill is two blocks away (featured on the Food Network Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives). Explore the neighborhood on foot to find eclectic boutiques, cafes, bars, restaurants, bargains and treasures, and hop on the bus or take a drive to nearby neighborhoods -- Ala Moana, Ward Centre, Waikiki, Kailua, Kaimuki, Kahala, Manoa, North Shore -- anywhere you want to holoholo (get out and go places). Everything you need is within reach so pack your bags and enjoy a little Aloha. E Komo Mai (welcome in).
Together with my family, we have stayed at Home Away/VRBO properties in SF, Seattle, Portland, and Boston and found this hotel-alternative a fun and interesting way to travel. As a family, we enjoy the local experience and select places to stay where we can experience living in a city versus visiting a city. I am a resident of Hawaii, where I have lived most of my life, and will be here to assist you should you need anything during your stay. My wife is also from Hawaii and is a resource as well. We love Hawaii, our island home.
George R. purchased this condo in 2004
The Executive Centre is the only mixed use property (hotel, residence, and commercial) in the Heart of Downtown's Financial and Historic District. Formerly used as an office, a residence, and now a VRBO - to share our wonderful island home. Parking is expensive and having a reserved parking space at no extra charge is a plus. This parking space is literally steps away from the elevator and entrance -- a premium parking space.
The property is convenient for travelers visiting Oahu for business, extended stays, folks in town for family reunions, weddings, and special events, and travelers that like to stay in less crowded and not so touristy places. The location is easy to get in and out of (easy access to freeways and main surface streets). If you have a car, the reserved stall is located on the same floor as the unit -- and that's a convenience factor that many of the other units are unable to offer. If you chose to get around by bus or taxi, these transportation modes are just few steps away. The unique benefit of this Executive Centre unit is that the daily rate is reasonable and includes a reserved parking space, wi-fi, is more spacious than a hotel room (525 SF with two rooms), reasonable cleaning (out) fees, and 24 hour security. There's a well-equipped kitchenette for light meals, gear for beach/park outings (mat, chairs, towels); for longer stays, laundry service is available (United Laundry for a fee) or convenient, coin-operated washers/dryers are located on the 3rd floor. Walmart, CVS, 7-11, and coming soon -- Walgreens!
We had a good time in Honolulu. The vrbo was very nice, with lots of personal touches:
1. There were lots of library books about oahu about travel and history.
2. There was coffee provided, as well as the first mornings breakfast, including scones and guava jam.
3. There was a nice selection of soaps in the bathroom and the water pressure was great.
I forgot a battery charger at the vrbo. They found it and sent it back. very appreciated.
I echo the previous reviews of this wonderful home away from home. What more can I say? Jeanette is the most gracious host. She met us in the parking garage to show us the property and give us the keys. A convenient parking spot is an extra bonus. Bake goods, papaya, jam, and bottled water were waiting in the fridge. What a treat the next morning to get us on our way. We loved being in the city. We walked everywhere and enjoyed people watching from the eighth floor window. You can find every type of local food just minutes away on foot. Explore! Interesting eateries are everywhere. Everything you need is in the condo including coffee, shampoo, laundry detergent, beach chairs, cooler etc. What you might need can be found at Long's Drugs just downstairs. We were so happy to return to this air conditioned retreat after a long day. The fridge held our snacks and leftovers and the microwave came in handy. My only suggestion to soften the bus noise at night are ear plugs or a sound machine. Other that that, this place is roomy and comfortable and we would return to it without hesitation. Thank you Jeanette and George for your hospitality.
This particular rental was more than I ever could have anticipated. I had planned a one-week stay in Honolulu visiting my daughter who is a doctoral student and seeing the sights of Oahu. The hospitality of George and Jeanette was superb. George met me upon my arrival and showed me the rental unit, its sleeping quarters, kitchen, tv, and wifi, the swimming pool and jacuzzi, the parking space for the unit, and reading material for sight seeing, transportation, and necessities. The convenient city bus service provided easy access to such sights as Pearl Harbor, Waikiki, museums, and Our Lady of Peace Cathedral, among others.. Jeanette furnished delicious home made muffins, yogurt and cold drinks to start the stay. George and Jeanette were also available to be reached by phone for any questions throughout my stay. My daughter was able to visit and park her car in the unit's parking space. George and Jeanette made my stay feel like a visit to a home away from home. I would definitely like to return some time and would highly recommend this rental to friends.
Jeanette was very thoughtful and helpful. Her gift of scones and jam were truly tasty and much appreciated after a long flight. She had checked the paper for activities that might be of interest to us and helped us with transportation options. She has some wonderful books on the architecture, history and culture of Hawaii. Having a kitchen was great. If you don't want to cook or even make coffee there is a Starbucks just a few steps away, open early enough for even jet lagged main-landers, and plenty of restaurants nearby. We didn't have a car and found public transport is near, and walking downtown is easy. She has thought of everything in terms of beach, bath, and kitchen to make the stay convenient. For myself, a quiet suburbanite, the lack of room darkening window shades (there are privacy shades) and the noise of the buses below was problematic. The fix was trading spots with my son who wanted the big bed anyway and retreating to the very comfortable sleeper sofa in the other room. It provided darkening curtains and some dampening of the street sounds. If you are an urban dweller you may not find this an issue at all. I would definitely recommend this place and would stay again.
We have never been to Hawaii before so we were a bit nervous about staying downtown away from the typical resorts on Waikiki. But this condo was excellant. Hosts were wonderful (thanks for the great muffins Jeanette) and did everything to make our stay great. We were close to all the great history of Hawaii so walked everywhere. Although we did not need a car we had one and parking was right outside our entrance for easy access. I think next time i would try all the awesome bus service that is right there. Typical morning noise but we are early risers and the beautiful condo more than made up for that. I loved that shopping and sightseeing was right outside my door. I would stay here again. Maholo Jeanette and George
This apartment is in a perfect location if you want to conduct business and move around Honolulu. The apartment itself is simple yet well appointed and is the perfect size for a couple (plus a child). I was solo on business. George and Jeanette are wonderful hosts who are committed to ensuring their guests have everything they need. My five-star rating relates to value for the money - includes coffee, water, a good strong Wifi signal, parking. I loved setting up my office in front of the floor-to-ceiling windows to enjoy the views. The HNL very efficient public transportation service is on the street below which is fantastic if you wish to travel that way. A slight downside is the beeping sounds from crosswalks and the buses, however there are virtually no sounds from within the apartment complex. I will definitely visit again. Mahalo George and Jeanette!
For guests that seek to experience living the local life, this location will give you access to pleasant walks, eateries, shops, and other spots that often go unnoticed. Chinatown as well as many of Honolulu's treasured buildings are within walking distance of the Executive Centre. The property is 15-30 minutes from Waikiki (depending on the mode of transportation) and about 15 minutes away from Honolulu International Airport (depends on traffic and route). The location is -- central -- right in the Heart of Honolulu.
The unit is on the 8th floor, overlooking Hotel Street, the Pantheon Block, and the McCorriston Building. Public transportation is located on Hotel, King, Bishop, and Alakea Streets -- all within steps or a short walk from the Executive Centre. Longs Drugs (CVS), Walmart, Walgreens, 7-11, Umeke Market, Safeway, Ross, Fisher (office supplies), McDonalds, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Little Village Chinese Restaurant, and numerous local shops and restaurants are within walking distance (on the same block or less than 1/2 mile away). This building is non-smoking and has 24-hour security.
Happenings around Downtown (and nearby neighborhoods), First Fridays, Family Sundays, Honolulu Night Market, Eat the Street, and more -- Keiki to Kupuna, there's something for everyone!
