I am a retired chaplain. I'm very interested in hearing about life in other countries. I love to read - especially fiction that conveys a sense of the experience and interior lives of characters in different cultures.
Judith Mason purchased this townhome in 1969
I grew up in the South and missed the natural world when I married a man from New York City and moved here with him. This brownstone with its front, back and terrace gardens enabled me to have a little touch of green serenity in all the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple.
I guess I'm a romantic at heart and prefer a home with the graciousness of the nineteenth century over the hard lines of the 21st. We have lived here so long we have something special for everybody of every age to enjoy.
My husband and I enjoyed a wonderful 3 nights, 4 days in NYC. We were in town to run the NYC Marathon and do some sight seeing. The studio apartment was very comfortable and we were amazed at how fortunate we were to stumble upon such a gem. Judith and her son were very hospitable and friendly. They provided us with info on how to get around the city; it was my first visit and my husband hadn't been there in over 20 years. The subway station was a short walk away and we were able to navigate the city easily using public transportation. I would highly recommend this rental and I hope to be back- to run another marathon or just to be a tourist. Thank you, Judith, for making us feel so welcome!
My teenage girls and I had a wonderful and comfortable stay at this lovely Brownstone It is only a few minutes walk to the subway in both direction and minutes away from Central Park and Museum Mile. We stayed in the studio and enjoyed the bagels and yummy lemon cake Judith provided for our breakfasts. The bed was comfy and the shower was quite spacious. We also felt completely safe in the area even late at night. Judith is kind and friendly and was interested in our plans as well if we were enjoying ourselves in NYC. She made us feel at home! Thanks Judith.
Judith is an excellent host! The location is safe and convenient. We especially enjoyed our breakfasts and conversations. It felt like we were staying with family!
Judith's bed and breakfast is in a fantastic location--two blocks from Central Park and less than that to the subway. We loved the history and uniqueness of the apartment. Judith was the perfect hostess, feeding us breakfast each day and asking us about our plans. We especially enjoyed the terrarium, complete with hammock. We would love to go back and rent out the other rooms to bring our children with us. Thank you Judith!
As a family of five with three children (9, 13 and 17 years old) we stayed for four nights at Judith's B&B. We had a great time and experienced outstanding hospitality. We booked the lovely studio and the children's room, where we found a basket with fruits as a welcome. The rooms were clean and the studio is equipped with a spacious bathroom. Judith is a very caring host. She cooked a lovely breakfast for us every morning, joined us for the meal and told us a lot interesting things about New York. The B&B is located in an interesting multi-cultural neighborhood, where we felt safe at day and night.
Even before our arrival Judith was very responsive to all our questions and gave us all information we asked for. We had a great time in New York and felt almost like home at Judith's house. Thank you very much!
This brownstone is one of many on a quiet, tree-lined block with free street-parking available. Half a block away is the neighborhood's 'Restaurant Row' which lines Lexington Avenue from 99th to 102nd Street. Mt. Sinai Hospital is a block away 'as the crow flies' and many museums throng Fifth Avenue, which - together with Central Park - is two blocks away. It is 1 block to a bus or 2 and 1/2 Blocks to a subway train, which in less than 10 minutes puts you in the heart of midtown and all that New York City has to offer.
