Photos and Description of the Upper East Side vacation studio rental
A Serene Studio Retreat In The City That Never Sleeps

The large studio apartment with a kitchenette (featured) is part of a bed and breakfast in a Manhattan brownstone that includes other rentals: a suite with queen tempur-pedic sofa bed, bath, 3D TV with surround sound system, terrace (and hammock) plus library with aquarium; a children's playroom with bunk beds and a crib; a suite with a jetted, walk-in safety tub and antique marble vanity sink, kitchen and curtained, queen-size bed; and a room with a single bed that converts to a king and has a bath and video game loft. A continental breakfast, The New York Times, wifi and cable are included. There is also a heated, year-round indoor pool/jacuzzi and a private garden and fountain (with tree house!)

About Judith Mason

I am a retired chaplain. I'm very interested in hearing about life in other countries. I love to read - especially fiction that conveys a sense of the interior lives of characters in different cultures.

Judith Mason purchased this studio in 1969
Why Judith Mason chose Upper East Side

I grew up in the South and missed the natural world when I married a man from New York City and moved here with him. This brownstone with its front, back and terrace gardens enabled me to have a little touch of green serenity in all the hustle and bustle of the Big Apple.

What makes this studio unique

I guess I'm a romantic at heart and prefer a home with the graciousness of the nineteenth century over the hard lines of the 21st.

Good place to stay while visiting New York City

We were very happy that we chose to stay our 9 nights in New York City in April at the Manhattan Brownstone B&B studio suite. The location was handy to the Metro and buses, and only a few blocks away from Central Park. While we could hear commuter trains going by on nearby tracks, they didn't bother us. Although up a steep staircase for two levels passing by two friendly dogs, the suite was roomy enough for two people. The queen size bed and pillows were very comfortable - above average. The bathroom had been updated and looked really nice.. The owners were friendly and very helpful, going out of their way to assist us when one of our suitcases didn't arrive until 24 hours later. They also let us use the main kitchen downstairs when we wanted to cook dinner, as the studio suite only had a microwave for cooking. The breakfast food provided was matched to our tastes and generous in quantity. Each morning there was a New York Times paper outside the door, plus there were lots of books on shelves in the room. While we didn't need air conditioning, the ceiling fan kept the room comfortable on several warmer days.

We'd stay there again and recommend it to others wanting reasonably priced accommodation in Manhattan.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review, Ian and Wendy. We thoroughly enjoyed having you both. I'm glad to hear you might visit us again - even when you might need the air conditioner! Judith

Unique, comfortable and affordable

This was the perfect affordable place for us to stay on a weekend get away to the city. Lovely, clean and freshly renovated room. The owners, who live on the first and second floors, were very helpful and generous.
We stayed in the room that had a queen bed and private bathroom and kitchenette.
You must be able to climb stairs to the third floor, which could be difficult for some people but was fine for us.
There are 2 friendly dogs who greeted us at the door but who do not go into the upstairs area.
During our stay we enjoyed walking in the neighborhood and down Park and Madison Avenues to the museum district. It was a nice non-touristy residential neighborhood. The train goes by every half hour or so but the noise is not too loud and was a sweet reminder of city life.
Check it out!
