VILLA TEMENOS - A SANCTUARY, RENEWAL, A RETURN TO ONE'S SELF...

Dominical House Rental Photos and Description

Stunning Oceanview, 2 Bedroom, 2.5 Bath One Of A Kind Getaway! (sleeps 4)

Perched in a hillside jungle, 300 feet above the gleaming Pacific Ocean is Villa Temenos. A private retreat designed to accommodate up to 4 guests total, 2 guests each in their own private “Palapa”. Surround yourselves in modern tropical luxury while experiencing the beauty and adventure of Costa Rica.

The compound consists of 2 tropical modern style thatched roof Palapas with Balinese flare. Each Thatched roof palapa is designed to accommodate 2 in a luxurious bedroom and bath opening to ocean views and nature on all sides. The woods have been hand selected down to picking the trees to bring in rich native woods while

keeping clean, contemporary lines. Cool Columbian limestone floor tiles and Sandstone carvings brought in from Bali add elegant but tropical accents to each palapa.

The upper palapa is two stories with an open living room on the first floor and bedroom on the second. Also here are is powder room and full size laundry. A wall of rich wood louvers doors slide away to provide you with a small kitchen comprised of a refrigerator, two burner stove microwave and sink. It's a casual setting to prepare breakfast and lunch or evening cocktails before heading out to one of our local eateries for dinner.

Leading out from the outdoor living area is a spectacular 40’ infinity swimming pool with 8’ waterfall. The pool provides several different areas with-in it to swim or relax on one of the benches or shallow lounge areas. Multiple terraces provide different areas to sun and dine all while overlooking the beautiful ocean below and jungle above. Step through the pool across a sandstone walkway to the Indonesian Pavilion or 'Bale'. A perfect place to read, relax or meditate...and that’s just what we want you to do!

As the house is perched on a hill, there is a series of stairs and bridges to lead you up to the main living and pool area, 50 steps in all. Along the way you get views of the magnificent gardens, full of tropical plants, as well as the great oceans views. One of the first focal points you see is the base of the bale adorned in river rock with a beautiful sandstone carving of Heliconias and Plumerias brought from Bali. Then, placed in the middle of the

garden, you enter through a set of antique Indonesian doors which gives you the first real views of the palapas.

Once up at the house you can enjoy the tranquility of the surroundings and spectacular views of the Pacific Ocean. It's not unheard of to see migrating whales, dolphins, and the birds and butterflies are amazing! Toucans pass through routinely. If it’s not the birds chattering you hear, it's the ocean waves providing a constant concert of sounds.

Located in the South Central Pacific region of Costa Rice this home is easily accessible from San Jose via a 3 hour drive and ½ hour from the regional airport just outside of Manual Antonia/Quepos. A 2 kilometer drive south of the small surfing town of Dominical. An important feature of the home is its premier location. Unlike many vacation homes in this area this home is conveniently located a short drive to stores, restaurants and services. You do not have to drive up or down long, high mountain roads to get to the main highway.

The area is rich with activities from zip-lining, river rafting, snorkeling, fishing and horseback riding just to name a few! It is also a great place to escape to and just watch the incredible bird and wildlife or walk the beach below.

We invite you experience our “Temenos” a uniquely styled Costa Rica vacation home

We are world travelers that enjoy architectural design and gardens, especially tropical plants who make it our 'work' to create wonderful places to share with others through our other vacation properties and our bed & breakfast in Key West, FL.

Dean Carlson purchased this house in 2005

We fell in love with Costa Rica the first trip there and bought this brought right then. This has been our 'dream' to create Villa Temenos. From the first moments standing on the raw land we started creating the vision that is now the reality of our home. We have more visions to come, but glad to start sharing Villa Temenos with others

This is our bit of 'heaven on earth' as they say. It is a unique getaway to unwind, recharge and refresh one's self and soul. It's very easy to not want to leave.

Villa Temenos couldn't be a more perfect destination for a getaway. My husband and I desperately needed a romantic getaway. I only have one complaint...it was simply not enough time to spend on the most incredible property I have ever rented. If you are a person who appreciates perfection in a dwelling, then this is the space for you. The thread count of the linens, the silverware...every little detail. I have traveled all over the world and stayed in many a rental and hotel, trust me, you cannot go wrong here. Screams DIVINE!

Everything we could have hoped for! The pictures don't lie one bit, this place is like it is out of a magazine. The pool is wonderful, the whole place in incredibly comfortable. The views are world class. The sound of the ocean is ever present. Henry is a true gentleman. Immaculately maintained, this is one of the nicest places I have ever stayed.
Wish we could have stayed longer, would not hesitate to return.

Just returned from Villa Tenemos and have to say it is as beautiful in person as the pictures describe. The people in Dominical are very friendly and the town is small and quaint. The Villa has unbelievable views of the ocean and is the sunsets are just as beautiful. There are plenty of things to do in the area and plenty of great restaurants. The beach in Dominical is a surfer's paradise. the drive from San Jose is beautiful. if you go to Costa Rica rent a 4 wheel Drive vehicle and get GPS that works in Costa Rica which will get you door to door. The owners have done a wonderful job maintaining this property and offered great advice to make your stay pleasant and enjoyable. We will return to Villa Tenemos to enjoy another great vacation.

Utopia in Dominical

Villa Temenos is perfectly situated high above the beach and nestled in some great vegetation. Beautiful trees and plants surround the house - providing lots of eye candy for us as we laid by the pool for seven days. The sunset is gorgeous from the property. The owners of this place spared no expense in providing a top-shelf experience. Everything from the columns to the furniture to the decor, tile, linens, etc. The infinity pool is the pièce de résistance - like you are stepping into the page of magazine. The views from both palapas is simply stunning. Having pocket doors in the bedrooms was luxurious; as well as being able to open the window in the upper palapa shower. The outdoor shower near the pool is also a nice treat. Don't worry - it's very private up there. :) The sound system allowed us to pipe our iTunes in the right locations. My wife and I also splurged on a couple of massages (as recommended by VT's concierge service), which were done by the pool. We were able to have about half of our meals at the property, due having a stove top, microwave and refrigerator. That was nice. This experience set the bar VERY VERY high for all of our future vacations. We hope to be back again and again.

If Frank Lloyd Wright Built A Tree House In The Jungle

For our honeymoon we wanted to find a place different from the standard fare found in Mexico or Hawaii. My fiancee (now my wife) lucked upon this place by chance through Google. We decided to go strictly on the pictures and crossed our fingers. The back and forth leading up to our trip was relatively easy: we used the car rental connection without a glitch and lined up a chef to visit for 4 nights of the 9 of our stay. As directed we rented a large, 4 wheel drive (which i definitely recommend) from Alamo. it was diesel and brand new so cheap to use and comfortable as its a 3 hour drive from San Jose. Be sure to bring/get a GPS - its a life saver. it was easy to find the Villa, and the private drive was as forecast very steep. When we arrived we couldn't believe the setting. It manages to be very secluded but with exceptional views. even the steps up to the main house were beautifully done. The main area has everything a couple(s) would need. we spent many a night sipping wine at night listening to the sounds of the surf and the jungle. I love pools, having owned them, so appreciated the beautiful layout and positioning of the pool. The pool deck gets just the right mix of sun and shade. We spent many a day just floating or lounging by the pool. The bedroom was just the right size but what was really impressive was the cathedral shower with a large, mediterranean window that opened to the jungle. We saw lots of toucans, hawks, monkeys, lizards, giant insects but no scary spiders! The local people were very friendly but we wish we knew more spanish. Henry the caretaker is a friendly and gentle soul who kept a lookout for monkeys for us. This was the perfect getaway for people who need a break from the hustle and bustle or middle aged surfers! The only downside is Costa Rican food is fairly basic. We will definitely go again, likely with another couple as the property has plenty of privacy for two couples.
