About Dara Liberatore

I has always had a love of the water and boating. Although I did not grow up on the water, and did not come from a family of boaters, I have been drawn to water sports - swimming, scuba diving, boating - both sailing and motor. Prior to having my own yacht, I did a lot of chartering, and often found the charter experiences to be disappointing - usually because the boat was not in great condition. After spending over a year in Charleston working with a client, the idea of having a yacht and having it in Charleston, as well as filling a need in the market for high end yacht charters all came together. So, I started Atlanta Yacht Charters in December 2012, with my first yacht - La Nina. I recently renamed AYC to Low Country Yacht Charters, to better convey the focus and value proposition that this business offers, especially as I start looking to expand. Outside of boating, my core professional focus is strategy and operations management consulting. After graduating from Georgetown University, I spent several years on Active Duty with the Army, both in the Middle East and Germany. After coming back from Germany, I started my consulting career, taking a two year pause to get my MBA from Duke and then going to work with Accenture. I currently work with Alvarez and Marsal, helping companies improve their performance, across multiple industries and functional areas, with a focus on strategy, supply chain, manufacturing, profitability improvement and M&A.I welcome you aboard my yacht - La Nina - and hope you have a wonderful experience!

Guestbook comments from the manager

I am writing this note to say how much we enjoyed our cruise on La Nina. She is a beautiful boat, and perfect for what we had in mind for a break during our two-day company meeting in Charleston. Our manager gave us a choice for a "team building" activity, and one of them was an afternoon trip on your boat. Our decision was almost unanimous, and what a great choice it was. It was sunny and slightly chilly, so we bundled up a little and spent most of the time on the flybridge enjoying the amazing views of Charleston Harbor and downtown, with our wine and h'ordeuvres. Our thoughtful captain had the heat on in the cabin for whenever anyone wanted to go below and warm up. I must say, I have been to Charleston many times, but have never seen the city from the water on "my own yacht". I hope you don't mind the reference, but that's what it felt like! Thank you for our wonderful time. We will certainly be back.

Great stay - Perfect way to see Charleston! Definitely will be back

  • 5 of 5

I stayed on La Nina for 3 nights while in town visiting the area. Captain Lisa was great and able to check in our party quickly! The boat is such a perfect fit for a small group of friends. We really enjoyed waking up to the sounds of the marina and being within close distance to everything Charleston has to offer. It's perfect for laying out, relaxing, and enjoying the sun! I love my stay and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a trip to Charleston. Thank you!!

Beautiful!!

  • 5 of 5

Renting the boat was more economical for my husband, sister and I than two hotel rooms. We had otters come up on the dock during the night which was very cool. The sunsets were amazing over the marina and the bird life abundant. We had a fabulous time and were close to everything. The shuttle made getting around so easy and inexpensive with just tips.

PERFECTION

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I have visited Charleston for 23 years. This was the best accommodation EVER. Thanks for making our 34th anniversary trip something very special. Making a cup of coffee and sitting on the back of the boat first thing in the morning is a wonderfully relaxing way to start a day. The boat is beautiful and well kept. The marina is quiet but quite expansive and makes for a great walk. The bath houses were easily accessible and well maintained. The list goes on and on. I am VERY familiar with the Charleston area and the proximity of the boat to dining and shopping is perfect. A 10 minute bicycle ride from the marina put us in the middle of everything. I highly recommend this.

A Peaceful Escape

  • 5 of 5

After spending many years coming to Charleston and staying in both hotels in town and condos on the barrier islands, this was a wonderful discovery. We came for a girls weekend and while enjoying many of the same things we have done in years passed, we thoroughly enjoyed lounging on the upper deck and taking in the breathtaking sunsets and sunrises. The boat was equipped with all that we needed and there were even light snacks waiting for us! If you are not keen on showering in the all in one bathroom, there is a "bath house" close by to clean up.

Ocean Breeze and Bug Free

  • 5 of 5

We stayed with our 3 teenagers and there was plenty of room. We had a few issues as we booked it last minute but the owner bent over backward to take care of all and made our stay a great time. We enjoyed the quietness and breeze of the water not to mention bug free zone. The boat is clean like brand new. Beds are comfortable. The marina is well keep and secure, we never locked the door. Thank you to Capt. Donnie who was very knowledgeable with Charleston history and very helpful in all ways with the boat.
